I have been here on a number of occasions and many friends of mine have stayed here. A small place with only five rooms, each room is themed for a famous wine. In house gourmet expert AmbasciatoreGusto Debora (who is also the owner with her partner Matteo) is super friendly and has some great restaurant recommendations if you are looking for some great (and affordable) food during your stay. They also have private parking (huge plus), wifi internet and an outdoor garden where you can hang out after a long day walking around Florence. They also let you use their kitchen. The rooms themselves are very large and comfortable, breakfast in the morning is impressive and organic, plus they also have a lending library, you can take a book or donate a book. You can tell this is a place with a personal touch, last time I was there they gave me a bunch of zucchini and lettuce from their back garden, score!

This is a great family-run hotel that is big on personal service and comfort. Monica and Andrea and…read morethe whole staff are incredibly gracious and helpful. It's located in a neighborhood that is often overlooked by Americans because it is seemingly too far from the city center. Actually, it's no more than a 15 minute bus ride (the stop is across the street.) The hotel is spotless and the AC works well enough to be comfortable. I stayed in 2 different rooms, one large King and a small Single. The King was huge and nicely appointed with a homey touch. The Double was quite small but allowed the AC to cool well. In time-honored Italian tradition, rooms have the requisite 24" x 24" shower stall and bidet. Several great restaurants nearby and the gelateria 50 feet away, IMHO, is one of the best I've tried. I come to Florence frequently (I have family around the corner) and will make this my new go-to place.
