I contacted Almands Self Storage on March 11, 2023, to request a refund as the units were not…read moresecure. During the conversation the woman informed me that she was the manager of that location and asked if I wanted to cancel my account. I requested she do so and refund the charges I had incurred so far before I was charged for the mandatory insurance. I had earlier stated that my homeowners insurance covers my property even if off my premises but saw no reason to provide proof of insurance as I had just canceled the rental. In an attempt to prevent any further charges I went to their site on March 17 and attempted to "Move Out", it's impossible to do so at the location as there is no attendant, but after completing the form and survey I got an error message that "Move Out" was not available online. I attempted to call them only to get a message that they were not available and to leave a name/ number for a return call, though the time was well within their posted hours. I did not receive a return call. Today, March 19, I was notified by email that I would be charged the monthly charge for insurance on the two storage units, the same units I canceled the contract on and have put nothing in. Looks like my next option is to report them and their parent company to the Better Business Bureau and dispute the charges with my bank. I'm still open to a full refund of all charges and proof of cancelation of the rental agreements so there will not be any future charges.
