Fix-A-Fence

Fix-A-Fence

How great was it when I found Fix-A-Fence to know that I was getting exactly what I needed--not just a "handyman" company but a company that knows how to do a wooden fence (or other types I'm sure) right! I called, sent a few photos, and had an estimate in hand the next day. The price was great so I agreed and was added to the schedule. Unfortunately for me we had many days of rain which pushed back my original date a bit but John was good about keeping me updated on a final date. Once we had a new date locked in he had a cancellation come up so I actually got booked sooner than planned (again, great for me!). The arrive on time (a little early even) and had the new gate hung, repairs completed on multiple sections, and a good once-over on the whole fence for some minor repair. Total time from setup to driving away was only a few hours and the work looks great! Also, I really appreciate the advice he gave me on a few "repairs" I had planned for them that he said could be taken care of in a less costly way (i.e. something I could easily do on my own since it was cosmetic work). Great to see someone willing to give me the best work at a very fair price. I highly recommend Fix-A-Fence and will gladly have them back for any future repairs (here's hoping another tree doesn't fall through my fence again!).

I can honestly say that Thompson Home Improvement isn't just another roofing company--it's run by…read moresomeone who truly cares about people, and I've had the privilege to experience that firsthand. The owner has been more than a boss or a coworker to me--he's been a mentor. He's taken the time to teach me the skills I need not only to be successful in roofing but to become independent and start building something of my own. I've worked for other roofing companies in the past, and none of them offered the opportunity for growth the way he has. Most places want you to stay in your lane and help them grow their business. But he's helped me grow mine--he's even helped get my painting business off the ground, connected me with jobs, and given me guidance when he didn't have to. That means the world to me. He let me get into sales when I had no experience at all, just to help me build confidence and learn how to connect with customers. That kind of trust is rare. He's shown me what it means to be professional, sincere, and fair in every part of the job. Every customer he works with walks away happy, and he consistently goes above and beyond--even doing free things he doesn't have to do just to make sure people are taken care of. He understands that people have bills, families, and real-life financial limits--so he offers financing, fair pricing, and flexible solutions instead of trying to drain someone's bank account. That kind of integrity is hard to find. If you're in or around Ashland County and need a roofing contractor--or just someone you can trust with your home--Thompson Home Improvement is hands down the best choice. This man genuinely cares about his customers, his crew, and his community. I'm proud to have learned from him and even prouder to recommend his business.

Dear Owner Timothy Surprise, Assistant Adam Van Gorp and Customers of Mae Fence…read more In 2024, I hired Mae Fence to install a $14,000 fence along my back yard. During the sales pitch I was told that my fence would last over 20+ years. I am attaching pictures of my fence after only 2 years. The horrible supposed cedar wood they used is failing. The majority of slats are starting to show holes where each knot is. Posts are splitting and screws are coming out of the fence! This fence won't make it 2 more years. Of course the small print says they don't cover knots. Well of course. Mae knows the cedar wood is cheap and faulty. We were happy when it was first put in. Now we are furious at the company for poor quality and lack of response. Their response was basically a form letter email on how to repair all the knots that are holes now. UPDATE: They sent Randy out to say the slats and posts weren't that bad and would only replace the bare minimum. Again, I got nothing from Randy in writing on what they were going to replace. All we got was a false claim of repairing the problem. If I said 4 slats needed replaced, they said 2. When speaking with service, the assistant Adam was in the background causing an argument with me so he could back out of repairs. I was at their mercy to decide. Replace very few slats and no posts or nothing?? They actually hung up on me. They are not going to appease me by replacing 3 of the 20 slats that are bad and multiple posts that are splitting down the middle. Through working with Mae Fence I have realized that they use poor quality material, their workers are subpar installers and their owners and customer service are full of charlatans that are looking for the cheapest resolution to a very serious problem They will probably try to say it was my fault. They are that type of company. People need to stand up to these current companies and their shotty work. Companies who thinks they can hide behind phones and false promises. Look at your contract and warranty on knots and holes. I would never hire them again for this shady practice. I will have to update this review every month to keep it up top of Google and keep the customers aware of the progress. Hopefully, I can help another person avoid the headache that is Mae Fence. Their reviews cannot be real . They had me take down my original review with false promises of repair. Well I made it longer. Buyer and customer of Mae Fence beware!

The total contract amount was $2680.00 and we were asked to pay half to cover the cost of the railings which we did. We were told that there should be no problem getting the materials and since it was a small job there should be no problem scheduling the job. My wife has attempted to contact the company 5 times. To date we have received 2 responses with no information regarding the job. They have to check on the material is the usual response. We still do not know if the railing and posts are on order. This is very frustrating.

I was told that the job could start the first week of December since I wanted it done before spring. When no one contacted me about actually scheduling the job I began calling. I was given many stories about the materials: they had all but the gate, they had some but not all the material, then they had none. I was told that they would follow up with supplier to see what the problem was. By February I told them to just forget it and return my money. I was told that they could not do that since they had used my money to order the materials. What reputable business doesn't have terms with their supplier? I was told that they would check with said supplier to see if they would be willing to refund the money. They were. I was also told that I would have to wait until they closed on a house they were selling to get the rest of my money. I have continued to call and leave messages, but to date (June 2024) I have not received a call back nor have I received a dime of my money back. This is getting to the point of being outright theft, not just shoddy business practices.
