I stopped by B & B on my stop through Asheville. They are conveniently located a short walk or drive from the center of town. The folks working and smoking in the shop were very welcoming and social. The humidor is clean and well maintained with my favorite cigars and also many brands that I had not yet tried. There are plenty of smoking areas inside and outside the lounge. I received excellent advice on the correct cigar to enjoy during my visits. I also stocked up on a pipe kit for a friend. These guys know their cigars and pipes. I highly recommend smoking a cigar in the shop and taking home some for later. You won't be disappointed. read more

I'm new to the pipe, so when I told Charlie and Philip I was looking for the "kiddy sh--" to smoke, they had a chuckle and pointed out just the thing for a newb. Charlie gave me the history on the shop, as well as a simple explanation of the various types of tobacco. These guys couldn't have been more friendly and knowledgeable. And the shop is something to behold. I originally went in to buy an ounce of something maple-y and left with a tin, a 2ounce jar of cherry cobbler, and a new Molina pipe. She's a beaut. Excellent cigar shop!! We got there right after it closed, but the owner opened the shop for us anyway. The cigar selections are great... Much better than those at the shops downtown. After making our cigar selections, we chatted with the owner for a while... He gave us a "she" cigar and "nip" for the road. I started coming here two years ago. I tried the place at the mall but they don't have a very good selection and the place downtown only has their own brand and they are terrible. A friend told me about this place and I have been coming here ever since. You can sit down and smoke it there and if you are not sure what you want the guys that work there will help you pick one out. I also used to smoke a pipe and they have a big selection of tobacco and they have now mixed me my own blend. I highly recommend this place. There is an eclectic group of characters that hang out there. I just got a locker and and it has become a favorite Saturday hangout. read more

ASHEVILLE institution for decades, located close to downtown, with off street parking. Good selection of cigars, stored correctly in walk in humidor. Proprietary pipe tobaccos, pipes, and tools are extensive. Staff is extremely knowledgeable, eager to assist when asked. Numerous leather chairs, occupied by locals and transplants of extremely diverse backgrounds. The decor, alone, is worth a visit. Overall, what one would want from a cigar bar, a local institution. Nice local shop good selection of quality cigars. I kept it on the cheap end and selected three sticks a punch, a Cameroon nub and a nick's Maduro. I really came for pipe tobacco selection was ok there was some really quality tinned tobacco bulk selection is mostly their blends. There was no description in person for the blends but online they have descriptions for all bulk blends. The prices on cigars and tobacco was mildly higher than some online sources like pipes and cigars, but you can't beat the atmosphere and supporting a local brick and mortar shop. The proprietor was super nice and offered assistance several times but was not pushy like some tobacconists I have encountered. read more

Stopped by to get my Father some Cigars, my daughter was with me. There were 3 or 4 guys in the shop smoking and talking to the man behind the counter. He did not even speak to us, mind you I do not want people to stop what they are doing to help me, but he was just leaned back on a stool. Never did offer to help us...I knew exactly what I wanted....I found them and was just looking around for a new Cigar for myself. Then they start staring at us like we are going to steal something....I have never felt that uncomfortable in a place of business. I put the Cigars back in the appropriate boxes and left. My daughter said "daddy"....(I thought she was going to say why did you leave)...but no.... she said daddy "why didn't those people like us..Even a 5 yearold could feel the cold shoulder. This place has a big selection of cigars but you better be a good old boy to shop there. I did ask around to see if is a private club but I was told that it was open to the public. I found another shop in town, not as big of a selection but let me tell you they are ready to sell cigars and build their business by being friendly. I did have a conversation with Cigar Dave about the lousy service at B & B...he had some interesting thoughts about why the service is so bad. read more
