I can't tell you how much I LOVE Dr. Kalan and his staff. After a couple rough experiences with…read moreother fertility specialists in the area, Dr. Kalan was a breathe of fresh air. From the initial consultation, he was so warm and explanatory. He answered all my questions (without irritation) and we had a go forward plan. Ultimately, we did two unsuccessful IUIs (out of pocket) and did one round of IVF (mostly covered by insurance). We were fortunately successful with round one of IVF and I am currently 23 weeks with our baby boy! We transferred two embryos, one was a blighted ovum and one successfully stuck. I had a few random days of spotting, likely from the blighted ovum and each freak out email I sent to Maribel, she calmed me down lol. They also allowed me to come in an additional week for a scan to make sure all was good while I waited for my OB appointment. The only minor inconvenience (which is the case with every fertility specialist in Bakersfield) is that for IUIs, egg retrievals, and transfers, you have to go to his Encino office and the lab there. Not a terrible ride from Bakersfield, but just FYI. He was also really good about scheduling and flexibility in life. If you are in need of a fertility specialist and live in Bakersfield, don't waste your time with anyone else. Dr. Kalan and his staff are the best and I don't say that lightly!

He made us feel very comfortable and confident in our treatment plan, and he just genuinely cares about his patients. After 5 years of trying to get pregnant we did a round of IVF with dr.kalan and now expecting our little miracle baby girl and boy august of 2021!!! Thank you Dr. kalan and staff for making our dreams come true. I am so greatful for the doctors and staff at this place!!!!

Dr. Kalan is one of the great doctors in this phenomenal medical practice. He travels to…read moreBakersfield weekly and communicates with his practice partners fluidly, so that I was able, as a Bakersfield resident, to continue with IVF that I'd begun in their Tarzana office, right here in town. Anyone in Bakersfield seeking fertility treatment knows that there isn't much, in town, for advanced infertility treatment. It was so frustrating for my husband and I. Then, we found The Center for Fertility & Gynecology. This particular practice, Drs. Kalan, Vermesh & Winkler, have so much to offer medically, but what is more, they show outstanding concern for their patients as individuals. You are never just medical protocol with these doctors! Their years of experience and love of helping people overcome infertility are very evident. Our son was born last week and my husband and I are eternally grateful to this practice and these doctors. They gave us the chance of a lifetime & we cannot thank them enough!

I love this doctor! Wait times to see her are generally a little longer than desired. But, there is…read morean obvious reason for that. She is a long time ob/gyn and she has tons of patients. She delivered my daughter in 98 and will be delivering my son in 2 weeks. Her walls are filled with pictures of babies she delivered!! She will definitely rush through a routine appointment, if you have no questions or concerns. She's busy!! BUT, I've never had an issue that she failed to address. If I tell her, "I have a few questions for you." She sits down and listens to me. I can imagine that if she does sit with her other patients like she has sat with me, her appointments will sometimes run over. Big deal. I get my fair amount of time with her when I need it. Also, she has been a doc for a long time, so I trust her judgment. Being pregnant is a scary time, full of "what-ifs" and fears. She's very to the point, but also the kind of doc that will give you a hug or encourage you through the difficult times. Almost motherly.

I agree with Judy. She was smart and only went 4 Times, I stuck around for 6 years. She's in a…read moregood hospital and she's also "fertility specialist". I never achieved a pregnancy while under her care for that. And yes, service is horrible, wait times were a couple of hours, even when you requested her 1st as ppt of the day, she was never in on time. Going to a new obgyn, even if it means giving birth at a different hospital.

He wanted to leave in the laboring process and told my daughter to cross her legs n he'd be back. Hours later, after much suffering he returned. He also told my daughter to be quiet as she was scaring other girls there in labor. She acquired a large hematoma we suspect from holding the baby in. Also, he stitched her with no pain medicine. We also found out the pleasant surprise she could not get an epidural as she had titanium rods in her back. It was told before hand it would be no problem.. I used him when I delivered her- my daughter, so I thought it would be a special thing to use him too! SO WRONG! Such a horrible experience. And my fault. Damn Anyway our experience was dreadful and I was so disappointed. I truly do not recommend this man to deliver your child.

One of the first things he said to my client was "stop screaming because you are going to scare the other women on the floor". He gave my client an unwanted episiotomy without telling her or getting her informed consent. When he was stitching her up and repairing the unnecessary episiotomy, my client said she wanted more numbing in the area. He ignored her. Then I said to him multiple times, she said she needs more numbing in the area before you proceed, he again ignored me and proceeded to stitch away. Lastly, when the father of the baby came over to cut the chord of his baby, as instructed by one of the nurses, Dr Finberg had already cut it and made an excuse that the NICU team would get upset with him if he didn't cut it. The NICU team was there and it was non emergent. The baby was not in distress and non of the NICU team had said he needed to hurry or get the baby to them immediately. These things were in the 30 minutes I was in the room with Dr Finberg and I am extremely disappointed in his care. He was rude and did not listen to the birthing women, let alone get her informed consent before he did things to her body.
