You all know what I'm talking about! Like old sweaty feet! Definitely one thing I have noticed at other places. So that was a huge plus! My kids brought their own skates. Entry fee wasn't bad at all. It was busy! This was on a Saturday. Half the day they have younger crowds and the other half older crowds. They rent walkers for $5 for those who are learning to skate. Keep yours close someone will take it! They sell out quick so get there early! They have a small arcade area and a jungle gym playground area. Which has a height limit. There were a few birthday parties going on at the same time. From what I could gather they offered private rooms and the DJ would announce important information to each of those parties. The food was typical- like pizza that was pretty good! The shaved ice is my family's favorite! The music is up to date. Which is great because no one wants to skate to Conway Twitty. They sell skates and of course rent them as well. Everyone was friendly. They have lockers if needed. The bathrooms were clean. In particular, this year, after having moved up to the next program level she has really improved. She started with the Kidz Power Developmental Program and is now playing Non-Travel. This is her favorite sport. She plans to play for the middle school team once she is there and this program should give her the experience and instruction required. The coaches are top notch and very friendly. Jimmy is awesome. Most especially, the kids really enjoy themselves both at tournaments and practice. I can not say enough about this program and just feel very lucky to have it available to my daughters.

This facility has the potential to be really nice, but it's got a lot of rough edges. I was there…read morethis past weekend for a tournament. The first thing is they need to have janitorial on staff the entire day on tournament days. Someone to walk around and pick up trash that people leave, someone to sweep up all of the debris, and someone to clean those nasty bathrooms. Every time I went to the bathroom this weekend, the sinks were stopped up, the toilets were stopped up, there was either no paper towels or there was a mountain of paper towels all on the floor. Someone should definitely be taking care of those bathrooms every hour with that many people at a tournament. It's just not sanitary. The other problem, and this is with most sports facilities, is that there weren't any healthy food options. All I saw were donuts, chips, burgers, and chicken sandwiches. The last problem is that there was no clear direction on how to pay to get into the tournament. We didn't know until the moment we showed up that it was cash, Venmo, or you could use an ATM in the corner. It would be nice to be able to online pay ahead of time, or take credit cards at the door. Especially now when people rarely carry cash.

I love the mission: Promoting the Discovery of Jesus Through Sports. The Upward Star Center hosts tournaments throughout the year which are very exciting to attend. The Adidas Gauntlet national basketball for high school is here every year with hundreds of teams and college coaches. There's always something new for kids to do, from summer camp to personal trainers for elite athletes. I enjoy my weekly group work out class through the Spartanburg Medical Center Velocity group. The trainers are so helpful and teach correct form constantly. I always leave feeling exhausted but strong. I've seen a huge difference in my strength and confidence from this class!
