He cuts hair the technically correct way and will proudly show you his Illinois licenses, that originally took him over 2,000 hours of schooling to obtain. Or just a barbershop that can cut Black hair. I always get a bunch of recommendations for overpriced barbers who take FOREVER to get a fade and it's mediocre at best. In their defense, my hair isn't 100% Black, so many Black barbers can't get a tight fade and non-Black barbers don't know what to do. Until I found Excel. From the moment I walked in, I knew it was different because they designed the barber shop to be very inviting and relaxing. Very modern setup with phone charging stations, flat screens and great music playing. Most importantly, my haircut. I had Xavier who was super friendly and is the owner. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and explained the issues I've had with other barbers and he got to work. The cut was PERFECT. It didn't take too long, he didn't talk too much, everything was perfect. I've been there a couple of times and I know the other barbers there are also great. So glad I found this place!
