I would put -Zero. They messed up my transaction. The mortgage payment is not correct as they haven't mentioned the right down payment to the financial lender. Besides Axess Law clerical assistant asked me to deposit money into their trust account. Even the holdback money they took from the seller was lessened and who knows who took the difference of $4000?! My joy with my new house is totally ruined and I am ribbed out of money. Veryyyyyyyyyyyyyy bad service and real scammers. Axess Law took 27K on top from my down payment, I have no clue where my money went. The financial lender is waiting for an update but Axess Law doesn't respond back. Roughly 31K has been taken away into Axess Law pocket. My husband and I dealt with Axess law for a mortgage discharge loan payout. I was contacted by one of the law clerks who asked me for documents and to complete a stater form which I did. In her email she stated that once all is completed they will take care of the rest and will make it a seamless transition. It certainly wasn't a seamless transition.! We booked an appointment with one of the Admins in Heartland and we were instructed to go to the bank and transfer the amount owing on the loan payout dated June 22nd 2022 and make it payable to Axess Law in Trust, he said Once they receive Funds they would take care of the rest and The law clerk we were dealing with will keep us posted. Well that was't case. she never reached out to us. On July 15th the mortgage monthly payment was deducted once again, we were fuming !! Well no one contacted us at all, so we tried to call and email them a few times and never had a response email or call. My husband even went back to the Admin at heartland demanding information on why is there a delay and what is happening with our money and why our Loan hasn't been paid back in June 22nd and why we were again deducted for our monthly payment on July 15th, he couldn't answer any of the questions and he said someone will contact us. Well no one did of course, when I received renewal documents for the Mortgage loan we were trying to payout I knew they screwed up. I finally contacted one of the Lawyers which I should have dealt with right from the beginning, she responded immediately not aware of what was happening. As of August 9th they finally wired the funds and was told that the Lender received the funds and will keep us posted once our our discharge papers are done. This should have been dealt with back in June 22nd and wasn't settled until August 9th. Do not deal with their Law clerks, Overall experience was very unprofessional and very frustrating. We ended up paying more money. They never kept us posted or gave us any direction and never responded to our emails or calls. We will definitely not recommend this place Axess Law to anyone. Pay the extra money and go somewhere more professional, these Law clerks are not experienced and do not know their stuff. Beware!! read more

What kind of operations do you guys run? Anne just hung up the phone in my face without giving me confirmation that my personal information is deleted. What kind of customer service is this? I will be taking to google review and will be writing my absolutely horrible experience from my very first phone call till now. I am just trying to get one document notarized (it is a single page). I jumped through hoops literally going back and forth since Saturday (it is now Monday afternoon) with your firm and still nothing. The lawyer hasn't picked up the phone to tell me what is wrong with my document...only giving the information to their receptionist who then transfers it to me (broken telephone). This back and forth went around literally 6-8 times since Saturday and still no signature. Completely unacceptable. All I want is confirmation that my file is completely deleted. I should never have experienced this especially with having the phone call ended right in my face. Good luck to whoever decides to use this lousy service. They should not be in business and with this type of customer service, won't be for too long. read more

If I could give minus 5 stars I would. This was the worst experience from any company that I have ever had. I can understand why the virus is spreading when you have to fight for 1 week to ask if a paper can be given outside rather than walk through a Walmart store into the small tiny cubicle with no air circulation. I was told by Michael "I am not forcing you to come inside, but if you don't, you can't have the papers". I was told by Ann when I asked to speak to the manager "The manager doesn't like to use the phone". I could go on and on but it would end up too much for one review. My advice is stay away. Now these incompetent lawyers are lying and saying its my fault. The lawyer emailed me saying they cant close my utilities for privacy issues and that it was my responsibility which is a lie. I have an email from Provident energy indicating I cant close my account that my lawyer must send in the proper documentation. I sent the law clerk the email provident sent me and provident confirmed they received nothing from Axess law until two months after closing and I got billed for those utilities during that time. Not only are they not taking responsibility for their incompetence and refunding my money they are now saying its my fault. This is what you get when you use a lawyer located in Walmart. I hired Axess to handle a simple house purchase that closed February 15th. I found their services to be extremely lax and poor in terms of level of care and client service. I followed up with them on March 21, 2019 as I was informed by my bank that the previous mortgage had not been discharged. I was told by Axess that it could take up to 3 months and there was nothing I or they could do. I was told that they would notify me as soon as the previous mortgage was discharged. Every bank advisor and real estate agent that I spoke to have never heard of this taking such an inordinate amount of time after a transaction. Another month goes by and on April 15th, I receive my first notice from Toronto Property Taxes that my account was in arrears with interest and fines totalling $154.63! When I called the city they explained to me that it was my lawyer's responsibility and Axess should have followed up with an ownership update and expedited the process 2 months ago. When I contacted Axess to complain they stated this was not their issue and said I was out of pocket this $154.63. With regards to the Discharge of the Seller's mortgage Axess again neglected to inform me that the payout was completed on April 3rd, 2019 and that the Registered Discharge provided by the Seller's lawyer to their office on April 5th.... eleven days earlier. I am very dissatisfied with Axess Law's poor client care and level of service. This is by far not my 1st legal Real Estate transaction and one of four for 2019. I definitely would not use Axess again and do not recommend. read more

Do not use this company!!! My 83 year old mother made an appointment to do her will. They required a deposit of $33.89 over the phone. When she got there, they would not accept her I.D. after they told her they would over the phone. They apologized and said that they would put the request to refund her deposit through to head office. Two months later no refund. She called and they gave her the run around. She tried to open a case with Visa for the money, and Visa can not open a case for deposits given over the phone. They know this. This is an unethical company. Stay away!!! read more

Took two days to make them understand what I needed and after they confirmed with one of their lawyers, booked an appointment and I asked them to send notes to the appointment person of our two days conversations in order to avoid issues with the notarization of a document, arrive at the meeting, the guy says first i will charge you per page then after I disagreed, said can't do it without reasonable reason, asked him to read the notes, made me wait for a good ten minutes and after i asked him what are we waiting for, said i don't know. I was referred by my broker. I have not talked to the lawyer but only lawyer clerk, and on the appointment date which is 2 days before closing, a random person came to the appointment... The contact has wrong date on all signed page, unbelievable! The person threaten to us and said nothing we can do and then called the lawyer clerk after I lost my temper..... What was ridiculous, the same person call us the next day and told us medical card is not acceptable for photo ID. My wife have to go to their office and presented the driver license... The broker has requested some financial reimbursement which they agreed to pay us, and this never happen! read more

To say that we had a very painful, disturbing and unprofessional experience with this law firm is an understatement. I write this message for common people like me, who care about their hard-earned money and I hope this message helps us common folk to not get scammed by these unprofessional lawyers. We appointed them for a simple residential condominium purchase. They first made glaring mistakes in the closing cost calculations, which we found only because we felt something was wrong and realized that they even had the purchase price wrong. I also realized the taxes and other amounts were wrong. It would have cost us so much extra money to close, even when we were not supposed to pay it. They then refused to acknowledge the mistakes they made, even telling us that our explanations do not make sense. After a long time, they finally understood that their calculations were wrong. That they had put extra closing costs for us when they were not to be paid. This is just a day before closing. It was a horrific feeling thinking that your first home purchase will not go through because of a law firm you have paid thousands of dollars to. However, after hours of persuasion, yes they had to be persuaded, to correct their own careless mistakes. They started blaming us for not sending documents; when we pointed out the emails with the documents, they ignored us. They argued and insulted us every minute, because they knew we were at their mercy because the date of closing was upon us. They took advantage of our helplessness. So many people would not study documents prepared by their lawyers because they have paid so much money to them and trust their experience. I shudder to think how many dollars common people have lost by employing this careless law firm who makes such basic mistakes. It still shakes me to think how many of their clients must have paid extra money when they should not have. They made very basic mistakes that are not expected from any lawyer, who is being paid thousands of dollars to at least get the documentation and cost calculation correct. They refused to answer questions and were extremely arrogant, dismissive and unapologetic. I see the other reviews and feel shocked when I read good reviews. Our entire experience was that of pain. One more important point to note - when we first contacted them, we were assigned a lawyer. Who did not work on our file. Then it was handled by a law clerk (not a lawyer), who messed up everything from the purchase price, to the calculations to the documentation. She did shoddy work to say the least. Then she passed our file to an intern. The rudest and most arrogant law clerk made so many mistakes and was so blatantly rude that it is shocking. I do not know what she is so arrogant about, when even after her claimed "years of experience" she can make such elemental mistakes. Probably she needs to go back to a good law school to improve her work output, but more importantly, I think she needs to attend a class on customer service and basic manners. Once her mistakes were pointed out to her, she passed our file to an intern - yes an intern - to handle our first residential purchase. The intern was of course bored and uninterested and lacked knowledge (can't blame her, not her fault). She made more mistakes in our documents. When we pointed out that the purchase price itself was again wrong on the documents (even after hours of discussing with the law clerk that this was wrong), she tried to tell us that it wasn't a big thing. I leave it to you to decide if getting a wrong purchase price on final legal documents you have to sign is a big thing or a small thing. I wonder if they did it deliberately to spite us. If you want an intern to handle the biggest purchase of your life, please employ this firm. I leave it to anyone reading this to decide if you want a law firm to increase your stress and pain or you want them to take care of your purchase for the thousands of dollars you are paying them? Do you want to see them make mistakes that would make you pay more money or would you just go to another lawyer in this great city that has so many good lawyers? I hope my review helps even one person in this great city, where there are so many other lawyers. Hello, I recently found Axess Law online to do a Will and POA, I came to their location in Mississauga at Wal Mart. Unfortunately they do not have a private area or office, on one side there is a toilet, cashiers across, and Macdonalds on the right side. They do not disclose that there is absolutely NO privacy, no private office, and you can not hear anything as it is a kiosk in Wal Mart . Once I showed up I did not feel comfortable discussing private matters in public place and left. I tried to get my refund for $29.00 booking fee, and got a call back from Manager Shaila, who said "Unfortunately, you have to first go see the location first and than book it", there fore they are not able to refund. I live 45 minutes away. read more

Submitting an application for a callback within 24 business hours yielded no results and following up through the online chat they promised a callback in under 24 hours and again they did not call. In the past we only walked into them for notarizing services and now we see that is all they are good for. Worst Service ever. My wife needed notary service.They told her she only needs drivers licence. She made appointment and went next day 15 minutes before her appointment. At that time they told her she needs passport also. She was there with our twins and she asked if she can come back home to pick it up . She would be back in about 20 minutes. They refused and told her she needs to make appointment again . Only available time in 3 days. It takes 30 seconds to notarize document. Who does that to mother of 18 month old twins and it was snowing hard that day. read more

According to my father, who went to the meeting alone, as per their instructions, it was almost a utter waste of time and money. Unless you want absolutely minimal service, not ask any questions, not ask for anything else other than the standard requirements, not consult any notes, hand over your money, then Axess Law is perfect for you. My father is over 80, in full control of his faculties, but the 'lawyer' he got told him he cannot consult any notes, cannot make any requests regarding his estates other than the standard, cannot ask any questions that he does not want to answer, just fill in the form and be done with it. Charged him more than the flat fee of $199.99+hst as stated on their website. But what can you do when you're not allowed to be with your octogenarian father and so cannot protect them from being bullied? My fault for thinking this would be the easiest option for my dad. Unprofessional. Their promising is that they "deal with all aspect of the closing from A to Z". In reality I have to call them multiple times every step of the way, otherwise it almost seemed like they completely forgot about my case. My lawyer is nice and invisible. The law clerk is very arrogant and irresponsible - almost never replies her email or returns voicemails. and when she does, it is full of attitude. I'm very disappointed with their service. I would have given them one star but the price is very affordable so I will give them another star for that. Then again... I guess you get what you paid for. Frustrating experience. read more

Excellent service. Went for a will and post. The lawyer went to great lengths to ensure we understood the implications of what we had decided. Great attention to detail. The firm has been undergoing some restructuring lately and is now run solely by the female partner. The result is heightened professional customer service and strict attention to detail. Terrible...I think? I made an appointment, which I had to do 1 week in advance, for after work and arranged for child care to cover the time. When I arrived at the "office", they were with another client. There was only one person (who was busy) working so I could not check in. After about 10 minutes into what was supposed to be my appointment, I finally interrupted and inquired who much longer it would be. I was then told that no one had booked the appointment into their system and that there would be no one to see me that night, wasting both my time as well as the money spent on child care. The person seemed embarrassed (although unapologetic) and offered a whopping 10% discount and rescheduled my appointment for a few days later. About an hour after that, the person called my cell and informed me that they had spoke with their supervisor and that they could not offer the discount as they had no proof that I actually booked the appointment?!?! Perhaps they thought this my elaborate plan to save 10% off their services. They also told me that they would call the day before my new appointment to confirm. That call never came. I did not bother to go back. If this is how well organized they are with making appointments, I shudder to think how effective their legal work would be if called into question. My husband and I just had a horrible experience at Axess law on the Danforth. The lawyer was 15 minutes late. Not in a meeting late, just couldn't bother to get there on time late. He didn't bother to introduce himself. He pulled out a chair at the reception desk and expected us to discuss our personal business with people walk-in in and out so we left. read more

STAY AWAY! I wish I had read these reviews before using them for a very simple mortgage refinancing. You deal with a law clerk that has to refer every question to the lawyer, who answers very condescending and in legalese - that means the lawyer needs to show off and put the client down. Everything I had verified with my broker had to be reverified - but instead of working with the broker (as I have seen in all my previous real estate dealings) or just asking for the same scanned information, they made a big deal about needing the info. AS well, what I signed for was NOT what was in the contract - the lawyer pretended they work for both bank and client, but they do not - instead of changing the amortization as the rate changed (and the bank had said they would do this), they just upped the payment. That is the lawyer not caring about the client. When I went to sign the documents, only an admin was around, who had to call for pretty well everything. I am SO SORRY I SIGNED THE DOCUMENTS. I wish I could get out of the refinancing now. DO NOT USE AXESS. I was conned by the initial contact people being knowledgeable, friendly and respectful. Horrible and Sad Story today: my wife will go out of country for 6 months due to family reason and she want me to be her power of attorney. We applied a mortgage for new home and I have to sign on her behalf. I discussed this matter on the Axess Law central line and the man on the phone booked an appointment for my wife 2pm today for Scarborough Town Center location. The man charged me on my credit card of $33.89 to ensure the appointment. Upon arrival Axess Law at Scarborough Town Center, my wife went in by herself and I was waiting in my car with 2 kids. About 10 minutes, my wife called me asking our new home address. I told her that we just need a simple POA for property (for banking only, the mortgage application sign on her behalf) and I do not know the new constructing home address. Then the lawyer on site (named: Walter Luk) started to loss his patient and rise voice to her, said to my wife: you should make clear before coming to the law office otherwise you should go back to make it clear. You need to come back again next week. My wife told him that we do not have time next week, but Walter told her that: if you want to deal with lawyer, you should always make yourself free. After that, Mr. Luk refused to issue a POA to her. My wife went out with tears in her eyes and told me why a lawyer could be that rude. After hearing that, I went into the law office and want to talk to him. Walter saw me and start yelling at me: I don't want to talk to you, you are not my client. I told him: I am sure do not want to deal with you, but since you could not provide the service, I want my money of $33.89 back. Walter yelled to me again: I am not talk to you and you should call you wife back. I told him: the money was charged on my credit card and under my name, my wife did not need to come for issuing a refund. Then he decided to call his manager and want me to talk to his manager. I repeated to his manager that I am requiring a refund because he could not provide the service. The manager agreed to issue a refund. After hanging up the phone, I asked Walter to pay me back, he refused and told me the refund will be paid from his head office. I told him that I do not trust you and you could issue a refund to me (because the law office has a credit card machine & suppose charge another $33.90 once POA issued). He refused again. I insist to issue me a refund and call his manager. He took the phone, instead calling his manager, he called the mall (with Walmart) security and ask security to throw me out of his office. I was so horrified and felt threaten and took out my phone to call 911 for seeking some kinds of protection. While I was calling 911, security officer came and asked to talk with me outside the law office. I was calm and quietly followed the security officer walked out and explained the situation to him. The security office told me that he could not do anything but I could complain to the Axess Law head office. I agreed. The security officer went into the law office and got the Axess Law office information and name for me. The Security Officer Ian also gave me his phone number if I needed. Now I am complaining to the rude and horrible Mr. Walter Luk at Axess Law Scarborough Town Center location and asking my money back. read more

This was my worst experience ever! The only time I got a timely reply from the lawyer/owner was the first time when he was trying to recruit business. Everything after was a mess. We met at the Richmond Hill office a few days prior to closing and there was no privacy at all. We waited for 45 minutes because the documents were not ready. There was another lawyer at the office and he didn't even bother to greet us. After the clerk did the paper work he just stamped. Then they messed up with the date of closing and they blamed on the fax being unclear. On the day of closing they had no idea when the key to the apartment was. They said they would call me about the key and I had never heard from them after. I had to make so many phone calls and finally I got the key from the builder 3 days after closing. Terrible service. Will not recommend it to anyone. Painful! read more

Completely incompetent and unprofessional service. I went to Axces law the first week of April to begin a very basic process of incorporating a business. I filled out the forms, and was told that I'd receive a call in less than a week from the lawyer to pick up my incorporation papers. I was told VERY clearly that the process would take a week. After 10 days, I heard nothing from Axces law, so I called and left 2 messages. Someone called me back finally and had me come in again. I was under the impression I'd be picking up the incorporation documents that day. Nope. I had to review the draft which contained an incredible amount of mistakes for a qualified law firm. I drew attention to their mistakes and then was told again by the same incompetent secretary that on Monday (the first business day), they'd e-mail me. Nope. After another week, I left 2 more messages.. Someone called me back and had no idea what I was talking about. I told them ho it's been weeks and I can't move forward in my business without these documents, not to mention that this is that business registration is the most basic process and I could have had it done elsewhere in a week. Finally the initial receptionist I was dealing with called me back and had me come in a third time (Everytime I was driving in there, it was taking me 40 minutes and woul dhave to take time off from work). I told her that I absolutely NEED the papers that day. Once again, it was the same draft copy with nothing edited. Nothing had been done since my prior visit. The last straw was when Axces law promised me this was the last draft copy, and for sure i'd have mypapers ready on Wednseday May 3 (yesterday). I go to the law office, and the lawyer was dressed SO UNPROFESSIONALLY. He was wearing jeans and a tshirt, nothing close to what you'd expect from a professional. He had had completed NOTHING on my business and had not even completed the name search. I spent 4 visits and over a month trying to get this done with Walmart and ended up telling them yesterday I would NOT be paying for these services an cancelled the whole thing. I wasted an entire month with useless back and forth visits, no follow up from the lawyers, constant leaving of messages to get calls back from receptionist, only to literally realize that they had done nothing after over a month. Completely ridiculous and insane. DO NOT GO TO AXCES LAW. read more
