A Carrefour City store and this Carrefour Market. What is the difference? I chose the latter as the store is larger in size. Still not as big as a regular Carrefour store, which would be comparable to a Walmart. This store is on one of the main roads into the center of Nice. It is a mix of apartments, condos and seaside hotels with views of the Mediterranean. Decided to walk which was about a 10 minute walk away. There is a tram that runs by the store with a stop down the street. The store was decently stocked and prices were reasonable. I was drawn particularly to the selection of packaged baked goods, like the huge bags of madeleines for a few euros. Overall, I found the selection to be sufficient albeit nothing particularly standout in quality or appeal about the goods. It is a mainstream grocery, so don't expect to find a lot of specialty products here. If you are looking for premium goods, I would recommend shopping at Monoprix instead.

I happily spent several hours shopping with the assistance of the charming owner, Katrine. The star item was a vintage parasol that I purchased for a friend's birthday gift. Also found a bakelite necklace, a great pair of vintage slingback evening shoes, and some costume jewelry. Definately worth a special trip!

This spot seemed geared towards tourists and shoppers in a mid-upper economic situation, as it's def on the pricier end from a quality and assortment perspective (think Bloomingdale's in NYC). There are signs posted on how to get tax refunds on purchases over a certain amount. That being said when I went mid-January they were having a fair amount of end of season sales across most retailers so shopping (or window shopping) can be an alternative activity for a rainy January day when it's not nice enough outside to enjoy the gorgeous views along the coast. The store is divided into 5 stories (first floor being floor 0 in Europe). Floor 0 includes cosmetics and beauty, watches and accessories and a salon, plus individual shops for the luxury retailers like LV, Balenciaga, Gucci, etc. First and second floors are higher end and mid-high end women's apparel and additional accessories. Third floors is men's and fourth floor is everything else--furniture, home goods, gourmet foods, restaurant. Personally wish it carried more gourmet food items like the Paris locations, but I guess it's not as big as those locations so there's less selection.

Loved finding some beautiful gifts for friends here as well as some larger sized beach bags and cotton/linen wraps for chilly nights on the beach. They don't have an online store yet, but the clerk I spoke to said that they have plans to have one in the future. She was very helpful and helped me pick out some wonderful items.
