Nice mid-high end department store with 4 stories, one of the larger stores in the shopping district along Jean-Médicin. This spot seemed geared towards tourists and shoppers in a mid-upper economic situation, as it's def on the pricier end from a quality and assortment perspective (think Bloomingdale's in NYC). There are signs posted on how to get tax refunds on purchases over a certain amount. That being said when I went mid-January they were having a fair amount of end of season sales across most retailers so shopping (or window shopping) can be an alternative activity for a rainy January day when it's not nice enough outside to enjoy the gorgeous views along the coast. The store is divided into 5 stories (first floor being floor 0 in Europe). Floor 0 includes cosmetics and beauty, watches and accessories and a salon, plus individual shops for the luxury retailers like LV, Balenciaga, Gucci, etc. First and second floors are higher end and mid-high end women's apparel and additional accessories. Third floors is men's and fourth floor is everything else--furniture, home goods, gourmet foods, restaurant. Personally wish it carried more gourmet food items like the Paris locations, but I guess it's not as big as those locations so there's less selection. read more

Another trip made even better by a visit to Galeiries Lafayette. The Mr seems to score big everywhere we go, when it involves Galeries Lafayette & Nice was no exception. On the off chance they might have some lightweight pea coats, we almost immediately found this awesome French brand Balibaris. Fly to Paris. Store is horrible. Service - F Poorest of all department stores And if you don't speak French, they dont treat you with respect or try to help. If you do speak French, they only help if you have a question where they are standing. Anything outside of that they tell you to go ask someone else....who is normally not at the station Cause - F You can only pay at cashier stations. 100 registers and you are directed to go to the rudest cashiers in the history of shopping. I do not appreciate being charged to go to the bathroom or having 3 stalls for many shoppers, in a so-called "luxury" shop. That is just so déclassé it's downright GREEDY. Also, I do not appreciate unhelpful staff. Do people in this shop think their jobs are below them, or what? Awful attitude. As a New Yorker, I expect to be helped in a friendly, polite manner. I will be the one putting the butter on the bread, after all. But I find this store stocked with boring things -- nothing we have not seen before a million times. This place is absolutely ginormous.. This needs to be stated off the back because if you're looking for an boutique shopping experience in Nice, this is not the spot. However, they do carry a large amount of luxury Italian brands as stated by another yelper. I'm not a shopper so I was dragged here by my mother and sister. After spending a good amount of time in Nice, I can say that this definitely isn't the best place to go if you're looking for quaint shopping experience. However, from a one stop shop standpoint, it's definitely convenient. All that aside, there is a huge pitfall here... Actually let's not even call it a pitfall, let's call it falling into the abyss of the earth. They charge shoppers to use the bathroom. So when needing to use the restroom, imagine my surprise when I saw a line of over 30 people waiting to use one of three toilets. I stood there in horror for 10 seconds and then made a u-turn to get the hell out of there. Overall there much better quality shopping experiences in Nice, which are highly recommended before coming here. That said, it's a good one stop shop for clothing diversity and a hallmark venue in Nice that would be good to attend in conjunction with larger touristy activities. read more

Terrible service!!!!!! 3 years living in Nice and every time when me or my friend are entering this always continuously under construction shop with old wood floor feels like you are back in 90s. Women In female section are not able to help and don't even trying to. They concentrate ONLY on retired old ladies. No respect. Once while I was choosing my underwear one woman who works in this "great" shop opened the curtains, to show obviously everyone my ass, asked if there is someone inside and how long will I stay there (just entered in). Terrible shop. To all my friends who are visiting Nice I advise to stay away from this "smth". Needed to be avoid by everyone read more

On several floors according to the types of products here you are in galleries. For my part I like only two floors: the last one with the household electrical appliances because I find certain marks there as I do not see anywhere else and then the basement with The galleries Lafayettes Gourmet (for food) where I also find products which I do not find somewhere else. Set apart it I am not a fan besides in big part because of the after-sales service and the techniques of sales. Every saleswoman in its stand but it is necessary to pay at first then to fetch its product later... It is just boring. To finish the prices: always more raised than somewhere else read more

a far cry from the galeries lafayette in paris. they charge for you to use the toilets, which was shocking for france, and even more shocking for a high end department store that sells luxury items. the last time i saw charging for the toilets that was in china, and even then, it would never be in a luxury department store. other than that, the selection was amazing, some of the french shopgirls were snooty, a few were nice, but not helpful. all of the asian ones were very nice to me. in the brand i was shopping at, the shopgirl left early for the day, and no one else could go to the storage room to get me a different size. pretty frustrating as i was leaving on a flight the next day. read more
