This guy is very reasonably priced, very efficient, very thorough and a very ,very, very nice man! He's a stump grinder and that's what he does: grinds stumps. Cheapest, quickest option is to have him bring out the stump grinding machine and pulp up the stump on the spot as opposed to literally uprooting a stump and removing the whole root structure. This means that stumps in a front or back garden can be dealt with assuming there's adequate access through a side lane. On occasion he's gone through a house with a smaller machine in the absence of a side access passage.
When a stump is 'ground up' the woody material of the stump and roots are pulped together with the surrounding soil debris, down to an adequate depth to allow re-planting of a replacement tree, re-grassing or excavation in case construction is required. In an ordinary situation he doesn't remove any of the pulped soil/root mix once the stump has been ground, it just breaks back down into soil and is re-grassed over by the client. Different people have different requirements but this guy is fairly flexible so if it needs to be removed from the site I'd say he'd be able to do something.
I have done business with Bill for 4+ years and hope to continue doing so for as long as I'm in the industry. Through my own personal experience of dealing with several other guy's in the stump grinding trade I found him to be the most affordable, likeable and thorough. He is also the most interesting man I know in the business. Be warned however, he will talk your ear off if given half the chance. That's part of the bargain for me.
