He found a scratch on the tire rim measuring 5-10 cm and Sixt assessed the charge to be more than 600 Euros. Then it sent a letter stating that my credit card will be charged and now sent another letter from the country of Malta stating that legal proceedings will be started without further notice as I have not paid. Sixt is not a reputable company.

We picked up the car at 10:30/am at the airport I asked the gal at the counter if I was later then 10:30/am returning on Sunday the 25 Oct was there a problem, She stated "No" she never mentioned the fact that they would charge me another days rental fee for returning at 12:30/pm 2 hours later! Nor did she tell me that there was a charge for adding my wife as a driver, the supervisor was standing right there and they both spoke good English and didn't say a word. So the final bill was $293.74 instead of the agreed $146.01 usd that my friends is a good old RIP OFF!!!!

I was ignored for ages, at first thought it was a language thing. After saying excuse me for 5 minutes in front of the woman only to be ignored, I returned to my place in the queue only to be called forward by her a few minutes later! She then went on to chat to her colleague in French, laughing as she did. She then told us we hadn't paid for insurance, which I was able to prove to her we had paid. Then it was the additional driver we had not paid for, once again had the paperwork but she would not back down and charged us an extra 49 euros for something we had already paid for! When I got home I emailed Europcar, only to be ignored once more. Called after 12 days and the complaint had not long being logged. I was guaranteed a response within 7-14 working days from when it was logged. Once again I had to call to chase them up, France had not responded so they then escalated it to a mediation team and once again guaranteed me a response within 3 working days. I called them on the fourth day, only to be told someone would call me back within 24 hours. I called again 25 hours later, the person who was meant to call me back was on leave for a week!!!! Finally spoke to someone, the first person who said sorry for it all and refunded me the 49 euros and additional 50 euros as an apology. It was not about the money, although I am glad I got the 49 euros back. I wanted an apology for being ignored, called a liar, laughed at and muttered about in a language I was not able to understand. I have told them, and I know I will never use Europcar again. I am not telling you not to use them, I am just giving a review on how I was treated and how my complaint was dealt with, which is an honest account of what happened.

If I could make this 0 stars I would. Wrong car, an employee who lied directly to my face, and…read moreoutrageous repair charges. We arrived at the Sixt location around 50 min after the time entered for pickup and the location was closed. After waiting 15 minutes for someone to return, we called the number and were told to wait another 30 minutes until someone could come back. After waiting we were given keys and went to the car. Upon inspection the car had major damage from a scratch collision and was not the class of vehicle we had reserved. We asked if another car was available and were told that no other car was available because we arrived 1 hour past our entered time. After I asked why that was relevant the employee said after 1 hour the reserved car can be given away. I clarified that we arrived to an empty office after 50 minutes and that no other customers had been served before us so it is impossible that the car requested was given away after the 1 hour limit. The employee was not helpful at all and lied to me by claiming to have been in the office and available at a time past when we arrived to the Sixt location. Out of frustration and wanting to move along with my trip I accepted the car. Sixt customer service was contacted but had no response. After driving the car for 1 day, we noticed the tire starting to go flat and we got a new car from a different Sixt branch. Sixt then charged us over $570 to replace ONE TIRE. Save yourself frustration and money and rent from somewhere else!
