A terrible experience

Last August my husband and I rented a car through Avis in Australia and paid for it before we left. We had a voucher for our payment and the only changes that we asked for when we went to the Avis office in Dijon, France was to change the car from manual to automatic and allow a second driver. The Dijon Office charged us an additional amount of $472-26 to merely make these changes and the increase on the variation was a 144% increase on the agreed hire charge.
When we arrived back in Australia, we asked Avis for a review of this outra
geous charge by its office in Dijon France and it refused to do anything.
We would advise anyone to avoid hiring a car in Dijon France through Avis. And in view of the failure of Avis to do anything about the problem, would suggest that one should be very wary of hiring any car through Avis.
