I had two appointments at this office in July of 2020. The second appointment was to fix the pain that I got from the first appointment. After a year of careful consideration, I have finally gathered the courage to share my experience. I was very hesitant to write this review as it is not a positive one. What happened to me could be a rare incident, but I would like to voice my opinion. I apologize in advance as my review is lengthy.
The main reason for my one star rating is due to the pain/issues associated with the fillings I got at this office. Originally, my appointment was only for cleaning/exam, but I ended up getting fillings on four teeth on that day as the dentist told me that I needed them. Back then, if the dentist had taken the time to show me my x-rays/explain the reasons for the fillings, the outcome would have been different.
I was surprised by the number of fillings that I had to get at this office as I never had to get that many fillings at once in my entire life, so I checked my dental records to see what my previous dentist found at my cleaning/exam a couple months before. I did not see any notes on 3 of the 4 teeth that the dentist at this office told me to fill, and the other tooth had a minor issue that did not require treatment at the time.
Prior to coming to this office, I always had bi-annual cleaning/exam, I did not have any dental pain/issues, and I very rarely had to get fillings. I started to have severe pain after getting fillings at this office (Throughout my life, I had a few fillings at other dental offices, but I never had any discomfort.) After a week of living in pain, I returned to check/adjust the fillings, but my pain never completely went away. I got worried and decided to go to other dentists to check on the pain and fix the fillings.
I am giving 1 star for the following reasons:
1. I was new to the area and decided to come here due to the high online rating. The service I received did not meet my expectations. I was in severe pain after getting fillings here.
2. After getting fillings here, my right cheek was very swollen for a couple of days, I could not chew on that side, and my teeth were in severe pain. I could not sleep well that whole week.
3. The office told me that the fillings can be done on the same day. However, they did not inform me in advance about the long wait. I arrived early for my 1:30 pm appointment and did not leave until after 3:30 pm even though my cleaning/fillings took approximately 40 minutes.
4. The cleaning was very quick and my mouth did not feel clean at all.
5. The fillings on four teeth were performed very quickly. The fillings were placed very high and overflown my original tooth structure. I was in severe pain during the first week. I returned to check/adjust the fillings, but the pain did not go away completely. I was very worried as it was my first time experiencing such deep pain so I decided to go to other dentists to check on my pain/fix the fillings.
6. At my appointment, I requested to have a copy of my x-rays, but my request was declined. The staff told me that because of HIPAA, if I choose to go to a new dental office, that dental office will need to take their own x-rays. I did some research and learned that as a patient, I should be able to obtain a copy of my x-rays, so I called the office again after a few days and was able to get my copy.
7. The billing process was a little confusing as the office submitted multiple claims to my insurance company between July and November of 2020. I called a couple of times to ask if I needed to make any payments, the office informed me that I did not have any outstanding balance, so I asked if I could get a statement or a written confirmation to keep as record, but I was not able to obtain any written confirmation until March of 2021 after making additional calls to their office.
