The doctors own this business and they are great at their jobs too. My wife had was in and out of surgery in under an hour and she was able to go home the same day. Every employee that helped her was great at their job. The receptionist, registration, pre-op nurse, anesthesiologist, PA, recovery nursing staff, doctor, room nursing staff, therapists, dining staff.....all of these people were amazing at their jobs. The rooms are large and cozy. If needed, a support person can stay overnight with a patient. They also allow you a meal and snacks as a guest! Valet parking is included with your visit here as well. I would highly recommend this surgical center for any knee, hip, shoulder, or other orthopedic surgery you would need.

Avera needs to get food service in ER Avera should stop charging for ER when they determine being admitted.... Paying for 6 hours just sitting here at ER rates with no food service is a horrible experience and such crap!! AND the floor rooms don't trust the ER to order meds so won't get meds in room for at least 4 hours has been our history. Why do you have to go thru med history with ER when primary DR is Avera and all in computer... then have to go thru all med history AGAIN when get to a room at 10 pm. What a joke. Make a patient go 12 hours without meds!!! Is that even safe?? And you can't get to cafeteria without walking outside. I guess Sanford is looking better after this trip today!! So damn tired of it. Need a new CEO to take a walk and follow a couple patients from intake to discharge staying with them 100% of time to learn and see how patients mid families are treated. . This is so out of hand. No wonder Avera doesn't read or respond to comments. Update: over 7 hours still waiting for a room while paying ER rates to sit here. MUST BE HOW AVERA IS PAYING FOR THE EXPANSION!!! Update: over 8 hours waiting now. And no answers from staff what is going on.

I can not believe we live in the twenty first century and nurses still need to be told after all…read morethe schooling they receive not to talk to the patients while you are getting their blood pressure! This is one of my biggest pet peeves. I mean you are a trained professional! Right? Then by all means please chart my behavior not my medical problem. Like you're gonna teach somebody something by charting their behavior. Personally I think if you are that thin skinned you need to find a different profession. I hear they're looking for people to help at the corner store Or maybe at the trash company, can you drive? I just wonder how long it takes to get an XRay when only one other patient is here? Do they really think they are teaching me a lesson? Or do they think they are correcting my behavior? What ever happened to just plain old medical care. I been here almost an hour. Bunch of children running around here in uniforms acting like they all work here but nothing is getting done. Petty non professional work attitudes from one and all . Send me to a real Dr. With a real nurse who knows how to take a proper blood pressure! She almost had my feet dangling from the bed! Where did this person go to school? How do you not already know all this!!!!!!!!! And they leave my foot on the floor. You know just st let it swell! You don't care it's not your damn foot! They haven't even offered me ice. Ya that will teach me! I hope your HR department reads this. And maybe retrains you on patient RIGHTS!

From the people that check you in, to the Nurses and Doctors themselves- everyone always has a kind, smiling face, has always gone above and beyond for my care, and not once.. have I ever been treated as a number. The VA offers a Women's Clinic in addition to Primary Care, numerous Specialty Clinics- from Pulmonary or Neurology, to Oncology and Hematology, an Integrative Health Department which offers alternative medical treatments for pain management and mind/body groups for emotional and mental health, and an amazing Physical Therapy Program to help with mobility and ROM. And if you need help in an area not covered, they are quick to get you schedule for community care appointments as well. I really can't say enough about this facility, and it's so refreshing to have a care team that genuinely WANTS to see their patients happy and succeed.

My wife, elderly father-in-law, and I were on a cross-country trip from Seattle to Eastern…read moreKentucky. FIL became dehydrated, and we had to put him the hospital a few days. The doctors, nurses, lab, etc was great. Hospital has been remodeled and is very nice. The mediocre review was because of the VA police. We were traveling in our motorhome with a trailer pulled behind it. First day we were there, we arrived super early in the morning. I pulled into the parking lot and took up approx 7 spaces. I wasn't expecting to stay there long ... only long enough to determine where I needed to park. The FIL was the priority. Immediately, this cop comes up to RV noticeably irritated that we had parked there. To quote: "Do you know that this thing is taking up like seven f___ing spaces? You'll need to move it to the street." I said okay and complied. I felt like saying that I know how to count. Several days later (which was the Friday before Memorial Day), we're parked on the street, and this same cop walks up to me while I'm standing just outside the RV and says that, since it's the weekend and after 5pm on Friday, it would be okay if I parked in the parking lot over the weekend since it wouldn't be getting full. It would also put us considerably closer to the front door. (I suffer from persistent a-fib and heart failure, and my wife has a bad back, so any distance closer is very much agreeable with my heart. It's a little walk between the street and the front door.) Anyhow, I move the RV to the backside of the lot, out of the way. We stayed parked there all night long. During the night, there were VA police patrolling the lot, frequently. At no time was I approached and told to move. The next morning, my wife and I are drinking coffee and this younger cop knocks on the window and tells me that I can't be camping there and that I'll need to move in the evenings. I told him what I was told by the first cop, and he responded with that he was the shift supervisor and didn't care what I had been told, that I'd need to move it in the evenings. He left. I'm thinking, if that's the case, why didn't the police notify me of this at some point during the night? These cops are apparently on power trips and do nothing to improve relations with patients and visitors. It's sad that a nice facility with great care is lowered by the police with attitudes. I'll stay parked on the street and these cops will get nothing but dirty looks since they like being assholes.
