I've heard great things about Avenue barbershop but experiencing it was much better. My previous barber sold his business and moved, so I was looking for someone reliable with excellent skills. Having a fresh haircut has always helped me feel more confident in every room I enter, and boy, I am not disappointed by what I experienced. I love that they use booksy, which allows me to schedule an appointment without charging an extra fee for holding my time slot. Since we live in a busy world, having a busy barber take me as soon as I arrive is a game changer (NYC problems). The shop is clean and edgy, with a massive logo on a black tiled accent wall. All the staff is friendly and working, which is an excellent sign right off the bat. Roman was my barber, and as promised, he was there with his seat brushed clean and ready for me. We spoke of what type of haircut I was interested in (Medium drop skin fade with a volumized combover), and he made a couple of great suggestions along the way. The man is truly a skilled barber through and through. I came out of that chair with one of the best haircuts I've had in a long time. Ladies and gentlemen, I have found my new barber!!! I've been going to this barber for two and a half years, I've always asked Roman's availability. On a professional level he is very good, the environment is clean, but today 18 July 2022 I decided not to go to this barber anymore for the following reason. Usually I have always requested a simple cut, with a clean bear nothing so striking, my beard is not even that thick usually fixed in 5 minutes. I've always paid $45.00 plus $15/ $20 of tip, and I've always been happy to tip it. the reason why I decided not to go to this barbershop anymore is because after making an appointment at 04:00pm I showed up at 04.11 for reason related to the distance, and for only 11 minutes of delay being told that it was time to come back another day it was so disappointed and offended as a customer. I will never gonna go back to this barbershop anymore. Apart from all this, when I walked into the barber, Roman had a client in the chair who you could guess had been there for more than 30 minutes. so I wasn't the one late as he wanted me to believe. read more

It's like dead straw, just limply hanging off my head like a forgotten Halloween scarecrow's stuffing in March. So on a whim, I tried this place. First, the clinetel is very diverse - old, young, man, woman, child and that was awesome. First time going, very clean, modern and chill environment. The mainstay barbers Roman and Chino showed skill with their clients. But THIS dude Eli wasn't great, I showed him a picture of reference of what I wanted which was pretty much a pompadour with close fade to sides.Thank God I told him just to shape up my beard (granted he did okay) or I would've been baby faced with the 1970s army flat top he gave me like I was going for active duty. Which is okay if that's what you like, myself no. He chopped my hair, when I tell him its not what I asked for he says, "just wash your hair and it will look better plus my hair line is not the same." Sorry but when I wash my hair I don't usually gain back 3 inches of it and yes my hair line is not the same I hadn't noticed thank you for pointing it out. All in all, top 5 worst first visit cuts at a shop I ever had. If anybody gets him he needs to be constantly supervised since his memory isn't trustworthy, he will finagle with your pompadour request. read more

I happened upon Avenue Barbershop through yelp actually and let me tell you the reviews were on point. These guys know what they are doing, I'd even go so far as to call them artists of hair. From the moment I walked in I got the feeling I was going to like this place. I was greeted and welcomed into the first chair within 5 minutes. The haircut I received was really on point. The man cutting my hair was always checking with me to make sure I got exactly what I wanted as well as giving me his recommendations on what he though I should do to make my hair look perfect. The man knew what he was doing and you could tell. I walked out with a fresh cut and a new barber for life. When you go make sure you ask for Roman, he's your go to guy. read more
