I am very impressed with Avanti's excellent customer service. I have always had a pleasant shopping experience and their sales team has always been helpful, without being too pushy. But I really put their service to the test and they Aced it! I bought a couple items in their store a few weeks back. A week or so later I wore a top for the first time and was so sad when it ripped at two seams for no reason (I wasn't doing anything strenuous and it wasn't a tight fitting top). By that point I had already tossed the receipt and even the store tag, so was expecting some kind of hassle or refusal to exchange. However, I was in and out of the store with a brand new shirt in minutes along with an apology that the shirt ripped and they even told me that if I have any issues with the replacement I can bring it back! Wonderful experience and cute clothes! read more

Great service - the stylist definitely honed in and helped me find a fabulous dress! I will definitely be back!!

San Francisco, CA 303403 best place in town. they not only have a nice selection but they are ripping you off like another business on this street. I especially liked their attitude - it was happy. they smile at you like they really want to help you. and they do. read more

I bought a dress here for an upcoming event It took me awhile to find a dress here I liked under a hundred dollars but found one for 60 I purchased it and took it home but there was a huge rip through it and they don't do refunds only store credit Feel a little ripped off because it was the only dress in the store suitable for the event and ended up having to get something else I didn't really want, and paying extra so I could get more store credit and a dress to wear. So I ended up paying 80 dollars for a dress that really wasn't that great or suitable for what I really intended it for The girl also put "changed mind" on receipt I didn't change my mind the dress was sold faulty read more

Sales associates are very unprofessional and rude. I will not be going back. Since management change the store has gone downhill.

Avanti is my favorite boutique in downtown slo. It supplies me with everything I need: a huge selection of well-made and reasonably priced shoes, both inexpensive and high quality jewelry, and tons of amazing clothes! The customer service is unbeatable: as soon as I walk in, I am greeted by the employees. They are incredibly helpful, pulling pieces I adore, but would never discover myself. These girls are on it. They seem to genuinely enjoy what they do, always happy to help! Avanti may seem a little overwhelming at first glance: the store is big, there is a lot of merchandise to sift through and choose from. The array of prices & the enormous selection of clothes is just another plus: I could walk in with the intentions of investing in a beautifully-crafted leather jacket, and wham - there it is (or, shall I say, there THEY are). Or, I could run in for five minutes to grab an inexpensive, cute, going-out dress, and I'll find exactly what I'm looking for. Love it! Highly recommended, it is the best boutique downtown by far! :) read more

Bought a dress here yesterday and had the best customer service! They had a great selection and reasonable prices. I wish they were closer to me! read more

The young sales associates circled my daughters and I the entire time we were in the store, but did not offer genuine assistance. My two teenage daughters were completely ignored!!! They acted as if were were going to steal by consistently rushing us to make a decision and not letting us hold our items. We are people of color, and are not new to this kind of behavior. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have experienced this treatment in this store. I purchased an item for $100, because I love the brand and have been looking for that particular color, but would not patronize this business again. Disappointed to say the least. As a business leader, I would want to know when my employees are not giving equal service. Please take this review and educate your employees. There is a fine line between customer service and biased service. read more

Love the merchandise but disappointed that the county mask ordinance was not enforced. Heard an employee say to a guest asking if they needed to put a mask on "No, you're ok" read more

One of my favorite boutiques in SLO and the best shoe selection in town. A must-stop for shoe lovers. Avanti has a wide selection of designer brands and less expensive offerings, and has a large inventory of Hudson and Lucky Brand Jeans. It always has a great sale rack for shoes divided by size, and the shoe brands range from designers like Calvin Klein and Michael Kors to less expensive (but still chic) brands like Steve Madden. Avanti's main draw for me is the shoes, of which they have a great selection of original styles that you are not likely to find at most other places. The store also has at least five sale clothing racks in rotation at any given time, with good deals on casual wear, party dresses, and jeans. read more

I have given this place several chances. I know I can't buy the clothes (they don't fit me),they look at me as if I had horn coming out of my head. I liked their other stuff, but I have never been asked if I need assistance. The sale girls don't have a clue and are rude. I have heard them speak about other customers behind their backs in a very ugly, rude, unnecessary manner. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ITEM IN THIS STORE! read more

I've been shopping at Avanti for over a decade and have always received great service by all the girls. They are attentive but not pushy and aggressive which I experience in other boutique shops sometimes. Their shoe selection is also always on point! read more

I had a terrible experience. The customer service is terrible. I had to stand waiting to get something from hung up very high for 30 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me. Also I spent over $300 on my birthday dress that broke before I got to even wear it. I went back to return it the next day and they wouldn't let me. They are also very rude to their employees. read more

Just wanted to confirm that the customer service at Avanti is still terrible. Stopped by tonight while waiting for dinner and not a single employee asked if I needed any help. This is basic! read more

the ambiance is just not here. the service is so so. no one has ever compelled me to buy anything the products have never compelled me to buy them a few styles of shoes are cute but no musts. that is sad 'cause i love to buy. read more

An odd store for a boutique. Although it carried top brands and some gorgeous stuff, the horrible lighting and layout/racks just didn't seem to fit what they were carrying/displaying - seemed to give it a tacky flair that didn't fit. Prices were a bit high, and can't say the service was good. But they did carry Hudson, a favorite brand, so can certainly give some stars for that. read more

Jesus this girls are rude. I don't know if they are rude to every person there or just the people that don't look like they are dripping in money but I pretty much won't go here again because of the general atmosphere that these girls create. The clothes are cute though but no thanks I'll spend my money elsewhere. read more

Well done, Avanti! You guys TOTALLY nailed the stuck-up L.A. vibe! Really, if you want an authentic L.A. boutique experience where the sales associates completely ignore you (literally AVOID eye contact when you walk by,) then RUN, don't walk, to Avanti as soon as possible! Highly recommended! read more

The clothes and shoes at good but can't make up for the lack of customer service. The girls are extremely rude and never acknowledge or try and help. I'd much rather go elsewhere. read more

Horrible service! The girls who work there do not try to communicate or sell anything to the customer! How do they stay in business?

Completely ignored the entire time I was in the store... They had more employees than customers and I literally had to continue to walk in and out of the dressing room to find other sizes etc... Then finally acknowledged when I came out with a couple tops with a "how'd you do?" She grabbed my tops and walked to the register, then she reached over behind me to ring someone else up! Wtf? Seriously so pissed I'm actually shocked I stayed and still bought the items... read more

Honestly, I never write yelp reviews but the customer service was SO bad that it made me feel inclined to do one. I walked into this store to look for a nice cocktail dress and There were literally 3 staff members all not doing anything who kind of looked my way when I walked and didn't say anything to me, no welcome in, no eye contact no can I help you. They continued to completely ignore me the entire time I looked through the store then finally after like 10 minutes of pretending I wasn't in there one of the girls half assed asked if I was finding everything okay. I know it doesn't sound that bad but I was actually shocked at how rude these girls were and it honestly made me not want to try anything on or give them any commission. I worked in retail and would never treat a customer the way they did even if that customer was blatantly rude to me! That's what you get when you hire women based on their looks I guess. By reading other reviews (either one star or 5 stars) it's very obvious that the associates stereotype you as you walk in and if you don't look like them they probably ignore you and if you're hot enough they probably kiss your ass. read more

Stopped into town and LOVE everything in this store! The clothes, shoes, jewlery, bags and the sales ladies were perfect! Wish I lived closer because I could literally find everything I need here!! read more

Solid spot for shoes. In my experience, the level of customer service is lacking off the bat as I am not greeted and I have to find someone to ask for assistance with shoe sizes ( I would think if someone is perusing $300 boots a salesperson would be all over that.) Once I've gone out of my way to ask for help, the associates were very helpful, accommodating, and kind. Avanti, like some other boutiques in the area does not carry denim above a size 10. But the salespeople here will help you put together a killer outfit. Their genuine friendliness (once prompted) and boot selection redeem the store of not carrying my size in denim - I'll just go down the street for the rest of my wardrobe needs:) read more

I have been shopping at Avanti for about 9 years now, and I think it is a great store. They have a good variety of brands, and items that are more expensive along with very affordable clothing. I have always been helped in this store, and the sales girls have never been overly pushy or rude. They have great shoes, and a very good selection of denim. Plus their selection of cocktail dresses is hard to beat. read more

I'm from San Francisco and I work at Nordstrom... Meaning I am super picky about style and customer service. All the brands here are great and the girls tried their best to make sure I didn't have to carry around my hangers. I tried on a ton and bought a pair of shoes. I wasn't guilted for anything ! They even remembered me when I came back later! read more

I was at SLO for a short break and thought I'd visit the store because a few of their merchandise caught my eye. They have a great collection and I would have definitely made purchases, but I was a bit let down by the rude staff. Like many other visitors, I was a first timer and had no idea what the closing times are. Few stores are open till late and few aren't. I looked for a sign outside about timings and there was none at the entrance so I went in and none of them mentioned anything then either, this was around 5:40. Midway through I kept receiving exasperated huffs, rude looks and eye rolls from the staff. I had no idea what was going on, and I would have appreciated someone telling me formally instead of behaving like high school students. I understand that it's annoying to have customers when you're trying to wrap up, but it would have been more professional if I was informed of the inconvenience than treating me like an unwanted guest. read more

I have always had a wonderful experience at Avanti, the girls are great, the atmosphere is nice, there is always a large selection. HOWEVER, most of the tops and jackets are on the cheaper end, and I would much rather buy quality pieces that I know will last. That being said, they do have a nice selection of premium denim. read more

Use to be one of my favorite places to shop. The quality of clothing is compatible with The Gap or American Eagle, but higher prices. They no longer carry nice dresses or shoes. So if your looking for Prom or Graduation dresses don't come here Avanti is no longer known for Class and Elegance, it is more like Boho and crunchy cotton look. The sales girls are very rude. It looks like the quality of this store has fallen and it isn't getting up. I will continue to search for beautiful clothing elsewhere. read more

Such cute clothes! And great service! I was helped by this girl named Sara and she changed the way I think about fashion and personal style! I will definitely be coming back. read more

I stopped into Avanti the other day after work to look for some Christmas gifts. When I walked in, the girls working in the store saw me, but I was not greeted or acknowledged. There were only a couple people shopping in the store and at least 2 or 3 associates working, so they weren't busy. I browsed around the store and lingered around the jewelry for a few minutes. One associate passed me a couple times without saying a word. This is not the first time this has happened in Avanti, so needless to say, I will never be back. I wanted to shop local for Christmas gifts this year, but i can't do that when I'm ignored. read more

I had browsed in the store a few times but did not make a purchase until today. All the girls that worked here were pretty friendly. They helped me with finding a size, starting up a fitting room, and trying on some shoes. Will come back when there is a sale going on! (Had to take one star off for the high prices) read more

It seems like the staff would rather get a sale than be genuine towards people. I put on a dress that definitely didn't fit me or looked good on me, but the girls who were working were all trying to get me to buy it and said it looked great. I'd rather have them tell me the truth and say it doesn't look good than lie just to get a sale. read more

I am wondering if some of these reviews were left by people who have something against pretty girls working as sales associates in an upscale store. And seriously, a review by an ex employee. Thats not what Yelp is for. These girls seem to take pride in working for a nice store but I didn't take it as stuck up as some of these reviews state. I visited Avanti yeasterday and was greeted promptly by a nice young lady. As I shopped another girl asked if she could start a fitting room for me and after that she was on top of taking anything else I choose to my fitting room. While I tried on clothes she checked on me to see if I needed different sizes. As soon as I got out she was there to ask if anything worked out for me. Don't get me wrong, this store was BUSY. I saw several customers being treated the same way, with good service. This is what I expect when shopping at a store like this and the staff fully delivered. Plus today i have some amazing clothes to wear! Gotta love it! read more

I came here looking for a sexy cocktail dress after striking out at Express and a couple other places on Labor Day weekend. Although they were busy the girl helping me devoted almost all of her attention to me and made me feel like a diva. She even brought me shoes to try on with the dress. I ended up with an amazing dress and some sexy Steve Madden platform pumps that were only $10 more than I saw online. I don't think it's pricey. You just get what you pay for. I highly recommend going here for a special event. The selection is great and the girl that helped me was really genuine and helpful. read more
