Got an amazing massage here during our weekend getaway. I had an amazing Theripist's Carissa (hope I am spelling that right). She asked me if I had any problem areas and I told her about my static nerve pain. Man did she work me good. She had tricks no other theripist had tried on me prior and the relief I feel after that is amazing. I highly recommend her if you have similar issues. The vibe of the spa is peaceful. If you get a service you have access to the spa only pool, hot tub and amenities. Unfortunately the hot tub was not working on the day we were there. I guess we will have to go to the Main pool for that later tonight, hopefully the kids will be in bed by then. Overall highly recommend

To start-- I loved my massage. My masseuse did a great job! I felt very relaxed during my time in the spa. The adult pool was a great, quiet place to hang out. But some things to know-- the salt room isn't anything to note (just two walls of salt blocks) if you're used to a traditional salt room. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, upon arrival no one told me what to do or where to go other than the code to get in. I told her I hadn't been there before is there anything I should know and she just explained how to get to the women's room. It was a little anxiety inducing as a single person to navigate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also got a scalp treatment thinking it would be like one of the ones I have seen online but instead it was multiple oils massaged into my scalp and a head, neck, arm, and foot massage. I left with all of the oil still all over my head. It was relaxing but I assumed they would wash and clean my scalp. Maybe this is how spas normally do this kind of treatment, but it was unclear to me and I needed to go wash it out after the treatment before going anywhere else. All in all I mostly enjoyed my time- especially the massage, pool and steam room. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just wish I had more clarity on the services and amenities/navigation upon arrival.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Showers are moldy and disgusting. Charging prices like this when you don't even have a hot tub? What a joke!

Unfortunately, won't be back. For us, this used to be an annual event. We'd pack our bags and spend the entire day enjoying the spa, its services & amenities while then proceeding to a nice dinner at the resort restaurant. Although they carry a "no outside food" filter, staff has always encouraged us to bring our own. This time we were treated very rudely, repeatedly, because we did the same thing we've always done. How disappointing to be treated this badly. Regrettably, we're looking for a new spa to host us. Additionally, we were told they had just completed a remodel but only new paint on the walls was found as their enhancement. Even more, when entering & exiting the spa, you can see all their filth piled high for guests to observe. Thanks for a few good years, Avani. We won't return.

First of all, kudos to Keisha for a great deep tissue massage. Unfortunately, that was the only bright spot. I was excited to stay at the Abbey and enjoy a spa day in the "newly renovated spa," which was anything but renovated. To begin with, it was extremely difficult to even book services. I tried calling many times before someone answered the phone. When we arrived in the spa, the person who checked us in didn't bother telling where to go or where to find robes. Another guest helped us. It appears the lobby and waiting areas were the only areas that were renovated. There are cracked and broken tiles, water stains on the ceiling, and rotting drywall everywhere. The locker room has many "out of order" lockers. The salt room is a joke and the hot tub is absolutely disgusting. The tiles are dirty (not even stained - I was able to wipe away grime/mold from the tiles. Don't waste your money; I definitely won't be back.

3 years later and after their advertised "improvements" what a disappointment. To walk in the door and still see paint chipping and every other locker out of order it should've been a sign. To make matters worse now they have a no outside food/drink policy but yet they have NO FOOD offering from room service either. This just encourages people to brig their own. But they still deliver alcohol to the spa??? Makes absolutely no sense. They have a big ass fan blowing air through the pool area so loud you can't hear each other speaking. The pool hasn't been maintained in years and shows paint chipping everywhere. Closed for over a year and the improvements are not obvious at all. What a disappointment.

    Gel manicure

My facial was absolutely amazing, however I also got a gel manicure and I think it was the worst manicure I have ever received. My nail tech was globbing on polish to the point where it looks like I have bubbles on my nails, she left a gap between my cuticle and where the polish starts and it looks like they are two weeks outgrown when in reality I JUST got them done. I usually pay $35 for a gel manicure where I normally go in Janesville, but here I paid I think $60 when they did an tremendously worse job.

What makes this place great is the environment of the pool atrium and the locker rooms privacy. They were timely and set the mood for our couples day nicely! The massage we received was okay. My wife's misuse was weak and mine was strong! I loved my experience but there seemed to be a lack of consistency. Again, not a deal breaker. The pricing is a little on the high side for what you get. Side note: I would recommend the spa but not the hotel. The hotel attached leaves little to be desired.

I recently got invited to The Abbey Resort in Fontana, WI and indulged in a relaxation massage at the Avani Spa.

The downstairs is the spa and they take the idea of calm very seriously. It was very comfortable and dim. They give you robes and very awkward sandals that cut your feet, but I appreciate the thought. Massage: It was honestly one of the best massages I've had in a long time. I could hear some noise through the walls that disturbed my serenity, but that wasn't the masseuses fault. Pedicure: I'm used to a little more time on the front end of the pedi - you know scrubs and rubs and soaks and things, but it wasn't bad. I was super doubtful of the polish job, but I stand corrected two weeks later and not a chip from the regular polish. They offer to let you keep your scrubber as is status quo these days. Changing Area: Big fan. The locker area is smallish, but it's just what it needs to be. It could do with a table or stool or something to set things on temporarily. Then there's a small seating area, shower area, toilets, and THE STEAM ROOM. The showers were great - I could have stayed in that multi-headed shower of goodness for a long long time. The steam room was great. I have absolutely no experience from whence to draw conclusions from but it was steamy and dark and made me feel as though all the toxins I had worked up the night before were leaving my body. Staff: All super friendly. What I did find odd was that the staff all seemed to do many jobs - a masseuse and a nail tech also both did hair. It's certainly possibly they have well-rounded certifications, but it was strange to me. The downstairs greeter woman did a good job showing everyone where to find lotion, mouthwash, and razors, among other things. What was lacking was more direction on where to be and how to do things. Overall....I enjoyed it very much. There were small details that I would notice were off from a high end professional spa, but they didn't deter me. It's trying very very hard to be great and it's almost there. The devil is always in the details.

Had a bad experience there. A terrible facial. I could have done a better job myself at home…read more Despite the fact I wrote on the release that I had rosacea, the manicurist (she was no way an aesthetician, started rubbing my face with a sand like grit exfoliating scrub. She never put a headband on my head and instead of removing the exfoliating material off my face she rubbed it into my hair. This I only noticed after the facial was over. No proper facial massage. She just kept applying different creams to my face and wiping at them. Waste of money.
