People must me masked and they temperature check you before you are allowed in. The pedicure area is two stations and small and cozy. They do have the plastic shield in place between you and the technician. They really take their time in every step and it is very relaxing. My gel Polish lasted three weeks and my pedicure was still in good shape over six weeks later. I'm convinced that is because of the amount of time they take on each client. The one downside is that it can take awhile to get an appointment. I was using a Groupon, so I think that made a difference, but it was over a month from when I called before they had their first available mani/pedi appointment.

When I walked in, about 10 mins early, I wasn't greeted by anyone. There was one stylist blow drying a client, but no one else to be seen. I took my seat and waited. About 5 minutes later someone walked out from the back and asked what I was there for. She did offer me a drink, which I appreciated, and had me fill out basic new massage client paperwork. After the stylist was finished with her client, there was a lot of chatter (about the client) between the stylists. I thought it was somewhat unprofessional, but I ignored it. The massage therapist emerged from the back about 5 minutes after my appointment time and apologized for running behind. I waited for her last client to come out. And waited, and waited....and waited some more. He finally came out and then chatted with a few of them while I was still sitting there. The stylists/massage therapists were being respectful & friendly, but by this time, it was about 15-20 minutes past my appointment time. Thank God I didn't have any plans afterwards, or I would have had to cut my massage short. The massage was AMAZING and Tara really took the time to address and concerns I had. Even though she was behind, I didn't feel rushed at all. The room and bed were comfortable - heated blankets were on the bed - and the smell of the massage oil was pleasant without being overwhelming. I particularly enjoyed that when she was finished, she placed hot, damp towels on my back. Not only was this relaxing, but it was nice to be able to wipe off some of the excess oil before I got dressed. My only complaint about the room is that it is no where near being soundproof. I was very relaxed about halfway through my massage, when all I could hear was a man's booming voice in the hallway. That'll wake ya up for sure. Overall, I loved my massage and will definitely be back! I am hoping that my first experience here was just an off day.

Emily was easily one of the most professional and attentive massage therapists I've ever worked with. She really pays attention to non-verbal cues and my experience was deeply relaxing. However, scheduling generally seems to be a bit of a struggle with this spa; perhaps like many places, they are experiencing staffing issues. I had to book my pedicure 7 weeks in advance, and was just informed last night that my appointment would have to be rescheduled because the nail tech would be out of town. There were limited available appointment slots available for rescheduling, and planning something like this is extra challenging for clients (like me) who have to find childcare in order to go to the spa in the first place. I am looking forward to my pedicure, if and when I can get it rescheduled, but it was frustrating to wait 7 weeks for a service only to have it cancelled.

They will imply that a suggested added service during a facial is complimentary by making no mention of an added cost, then charge you anywhere from $20 to $70 for it when you pay. They did this to a friend, my daughter, and me on three separate occasions. 2. The prices listed at their website are often lower than what you will be charged. 3. A one-hour facial will be shortened (by as much as 10 minutes) if they are running behind schedule, and/or they will include in your one hour the time you spend laying there waiting for the facial to begin. 4. Their cost to add on dermaplaning during a facial is at full price ($73, but listed as $70 at their website), whereas most salons charge half price or around $30 for this service when it is an add on to a facial. 5. They do not disclose the fact that they charge more for their Eminence skincare products than what you will pay at the Eminence website. It's a shame that they choose to run their business in such an underhanded way because the facials themselves, aside from the issues listed above, were always excellent. It could be a five-star spa if they were upfront and transparent about their policies. There are many other excellent salons in the Murrysville area where you will be treated fairly - don't bother with Rive Spa, you'll eventually be disappointed.
