This last year, I didn't go till the day of and they were pretty picked. Obviously, other people like this place too. I had told my son he could pick whatever he wanted. But they didn't have anything. So, I went and talked to the lady at the register and she talked to my son for a minute. Found out he liked video games (shocker - lol) then walked him over to an area and found a few options. He got a cool Bowser costume, which imho was way better than a Fortnite character anyway!

Its that time of the year where vacant and defunct retail locations suddenly become vibrant and…read moreexciting Halloween stores. There are several variety of these types of store, Spirit and Halloween City. Lately, though, I have avoided such places simply because the prices are very expensive and the items typically are cheap costume types. Knowing what my tombstone read before entering Spirit located at the Cost Plus store near Petsmart, i decided to tempt fate anyways and go inside. Sure, there are the usual suspects of trendy Halloween costumes, but I really liked was the different displays. Being in retail for over five years, I have keen eye for what makes a great display and what does not. I also note where products are placed and how end caps are utilized. I am not sure who designed the layout or the displays at this location but they get a GRADE A!. Simply amazing. It's almost like taking a tour down Harrison on Halloween night. Upfront you have a very spooky tree with life-real animatronics, Sorry not going to spoil which ones you will encounter. Around the bend you a wide selection of Halloween home decor. Whether its the zombie hands that you stake into your lawn, or the ghostly lanterns to illuminate the pathway to your front door, they have it all. Tucked away in the left hand back corner of the store is a fantastic albeit gory display of more animatronics. Please check out how they decided to display all four of them in such a manner that you may have to take a bathroom break. Yes, you find the Joker, Harley Quinn, and Batgirl costumes, as well as the adult costumes, but I have to admit there's less of the adult theme costumes than previous years, and for that, I am glad. While they are funny for couples, I don't believe they should be available or seen for the younger kids. If you want to feel like a Presidential Candidate, you find both Hilary and the Donald here as well as some Feel the Bern items as well. I also found some Day of the Dead costume ideas as well as home decor item tucked away to into two different locations. The young kids selection is all the way to the left and you find everything from Power Rangers to Legos and Ninja Turtles. If you are the type to make your costume or go to a second hand store to purchase costume, the entertainment value and cost of visiting the Spirit Halloween is still worth the trip. Enjoy while the stores are still here and maybe just maybe, you'll get your ghoul on!!!

They have two locations during the holidays - their main store is off of Chinden and the holiday pop up is in the Village in the old Charming Charlie location. During the holidays they only have holiday decor plus a few big pieces like coffee tables and chairs. So if you're looking for every day house decor - wait until after the holidays. They do carry some local makers (soaps, wood cutting boards, ornaments, etc). But there is plenty of large scale manufacturing items. Prices are mid range - not terribly expensive but you probably won't find any great deals either. The staff who work here are sweet and helpful, though none of them were masked when I went into the Village location Nov 2020. Overall, pretty cute but you won't find anything super unique.

It was refreshing to have someone answer the phone and then provide and quotation in a timely manner. Larry had to special order our lights and kept in constant communication with status updates. When the lights arrived, he came out promptly and installed. We also have a very high roof peak that I wanted to skip in order to keep the costs down (this may be the only year that we put lights on this house), but when we had the lights up it just didn't look right.
