I've never met so many experienced, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and an all-around incredible team of ladies in my 10 years of living in Los Angeles. The F-NP's Christine & Karri-Ann also known as The Skin sisters, are masters at their craft and so skilled at what they do, nobody will even guess you've had anything done but I can guarantee everyone will say you look great! Very disappointed. Not for me and would not go back. Went there for Renuva but when there Botox was mentioned, that it was relatively cheap and that it would enhance my facial appearance I went for it. As it turned out it was Jeuveau that was injected and for which which I discovered that I had signed the consent. An IPad is produced and presented for you to sign there and then. I had never heard of Jeuveau. In any event I got Jeuveau in my lip lines and also in my frown lines which I added as an afterthought. There was no change in my lip lines which when I inquired later I was told 4 units were injected. In my Frown Lines 8 units were injected and 10 in the Glabella. Some of my frown lines looked appreciably smoother but had not been totally smoothed. The business asks if you want a receipt which i did but it did not have the amount of units set out and I had to inquire about when I was not satisfied with the results. The receipt just said 2 sites. My view is that you should be made aware of how many units were injected as a matter of practice. I don't recall it being mentioned that I could return for a touch up. Also that I had been actually been charged for 32 units to take account of this. As I didn't want to make a return visit the business would refund me the unused 10 units i.e. $190.00. I can't speak about the Renuva because it takes time to develop. On the plus side I have to say that everyone I dealt with was very pleasant and it was explained to me that there is no size fit all for Botox/Jeuveau. They were very willing to resolve the problem and offered the refund of the units set aside for the touch up if I didn't want to make a return visit. read more

My boyfriend came here for an a skin condition he was having troubles with for over a year. We went to a lot of different places to find out the problem but no help. When we came here they instantly figured out the problem and gave him medication and ointment. His skin condition cleared up in 2 weeks. We was so happy with the results I went in for other treatments myself. I met with Bernice. She is amazing she did a few units of botox to define my jawline. I have a strong muscle underneath my chin which make me look like I have a double chin. They used botox to relax the muscle. It was my first time ever getting it. No scars. I've been coming here for the past couple of years and I love them so much! I see Stefanie (who I love!) for my facials and have had quite a variety lol, I wish I can list them all, but I usually just let her look at my skin and decide what best and she's always on point! I love love love getting peels as well, I don't need them often, but when I do she is the only person I trust. When you have brown skin you're extremely reluctant to allow anyone to do a peel (or even extractions) on something as delicate as your face, but let me tell you...she knows what she's doing and they are life changing! My skin is the best it's ever been with very little maintenance or product over needed. Literally, face wash, moisturizer sun screen. Oh and I use their glycolic pads which are bomb! W I've also done CoolSculpting with Caroline which was amazing (and so is she!). I have a smaller figure but have had a lower pudge that I just could not get rid of no matter what I ate or how much I exercised, until this. It does take a couple of months to see the results but its been 4 months now my lower belly hasn't looked this flat or been without the jiggle in years! LOL read more

Ava is The Best. I have gone to 2 fancy NY doctors for filler (twice a year), and with Ava, it hurts less and the results are subtly superior. I never get bruising and look decent the following day. She even knew why I had redness around my bottom lid following a bout of blepharitis. I am relieved to know it should gradually disappear. I wish Ava would open a clinic in NYC. She offered me a solution that no other esthetician had yet and instantly diagnosed what was happening with my skin (also something no other esthetician had gotten right). The Filler Ava was doing in my cheeks became over done and I looked like I gained weight - in addition, every single time I went in for an appointment I would wait at a minimum an hour at most two hours should have left. Her nurse would also come in the room annoyingly and awkwardly at every single appointment I had. Often times they were close together as an already established patient and say there was a price increase mind you their prices are already incredibly expensive. They would blame this on the manufacturer however, I work in the industry and knew that this was false, but never said that directly to their face. And also, this was never disclosed before the appointment, rather while you were waiting during the appointment, so whatever was quoted prior was not honored an incorrect - they made the prices up as they went for me - She also has an arrogance about her that comes across like she thinks she's a celebrity her self. read more

I went in July for an IPL treatment. The last time I had the procedure done, it was done by Dr. Van Dyke who is also at this clinic. However, they told me that the $500 procedure would be done by a nurse. I have no real complaints about CariAnn. She was super sweet and fun to talk to. My first issue was having never been there, needing to sit in the common lobby area as my face numbed for my procedure (which I had to apply myself btw). Made me a little self-conscious but I got over it. The actual procedure was fine. Since I had done it before, I knew what to expect. But this office never asked me to fill out any skin surveys. The last office I had this procedure done made me answer numerous detailed questions about my ethnicity, tanning habits, sun exposure, most recent exposure, etc. CariAnn did ask my ethnicity and she said she would adjust accordingly. I've read other overall reviews from various places that sometimes the IPL treatment level is not high enough. To prevent burning... And perhaps CariAnn sensed this as she said after the procedure if I had a problem I should let her know in a month. Hmmm. Here's the thing....the RESULTS LASTED ONLY 3 WEEKS. Within that time my spots on my face came back and I was super religious about wearing high SPFs, hats, umbrellas, you name it. Thankfully my skin looked awesome for the actual event I was going to, but even my husband said I should go back to complain. I feel like if you're going to spend that much money then it should last a little longer than that. Ask me everything you need to know about my skin so you can get it right. And you shouldn't expect to go back in that short of a time period. I mean, it's not a pleasant experience and I wasn't going to spend another $500 for just 3 more weeks. I'm super bummed because I am not having luck with these spots and I don't do creams. Just feels like a huge waste of money. read more

Dr. Shambam is a miracle worker, but this review is not for her, I don't really want to disclose what I had done but all I have to say is JENNAFER FRANCIS is a GENIUS. She is amazing with fillers etc and more. She has the best disposition of anyone I've seen in the last 15 years besides Dr. Shambam. I'm hooked for life and so glad they have this Bev Hills location so I don't have to drive out to Santa Monica which takes an hour for me. I HIGHLY recommend Christine Nell FNP at AVA MD for facial fillers. This was my first time getting fillers. I was nervous because I tend to swell and bruise easy. I was also concerned about looking "overdone". I work in a professional, customer facing role so I don't have time to "recover" from a procedure. Christine talked me through my options and we went with a cannula to reduce the risk of bruising for my under eye fillers. The results are magical. I had absolutely no bruising and minimal swelling. I worked right after the injections and the next day. People keep telling me how rested and youthful I look. Random people have stopped me to tell me I'm glowing. These are the exact results I was looking for. Christine did not try to upsell me at all. In fact, she advised me against some other things I was considering. The office is beautiful and immaculate. I went here once recently because she was available last minute. One of the staff was so rude I had to leave. I'm honestly surprised at all the good reviews in here be cause the reviews are most mostly about the staff not the nurses or doctors but the staff here are horrible and the wait time was unacceptable. I must admit that I was rather surprised by my experience with the doctor and I almost didn't bother writing the review, but that's just not right. These reviews are meant to express how we felt about the service we received. So, here goes. Appt was scheduled for 8:40, it was at least 45mins before I saw Dr. Ava and she spoke to me for maybe 3mins-- 4mins tops. Gave me a prescription for some great cream for my allergy to the sun, but I will never get it again as it was $75 w/insurance!! And that's not what my appt was for. My appt was for a procedure that she doesn't do, but was going to get in touch with the guy who does and let me know. That was July 2nd. $40 co-pay and a 3 min visit with the 1hr late doctor? Once will do. NEVER again! read more

Really abysmal experience at Ava MD with transparency of billing, services, and with their staff. I am terribly disappointed, and advise potential clients to reconsider if they are considering becoming a patient at this office. At my initial consultation, I provided my insurance card to the receptionist, who, after a couple of minutes getting my information into their system and "checking to see if they were in my network" told me that they accepted my plan. I asked her if she was sure, she clicked around for a moment to double check, and said "yes, there shouldn't be a problem." Great, so I then proceed to get checked up with one of their in-house practitioners, KerriAnn (who is such a sweetheart by the way). She was very thorough with her recommendations for my skin ailments, and answered all of my questions. I made additional trips here in the weeks following that initial consultation for cortisone injections for some troublesome acne break-outs and was told on multiple occasions that if the problem areas did not go away, I could come back later and receive a touch-up injection at no additional cost. This was verbally communicated to me by two of their other practitioners, one of which who goes by the name Karen. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I receive a bill not only showing that my insurance didn't cover any of the visits, but they had charged me for all the injections that were supposed to be at no cost to me because the initial injections had not been effective. In addition, when prescribing me an oral antibiotic, never once was I asked if I preferred a non-brand prescription. So I took my prescription to a pharmacy, and was told by the pharmacist that the out-of-pocket for the medicine would be close to $1,000 per fill, when the non-brand alternative costs 90% less per fill. It's outrageous. My mistake for going to a Beverly Hills dermatologist. While I do take some responsibly in checking to see if this office was in my network, I found it foul practice for them to say that I was, when I really wasn't. That's in addition to the improper billing and charges that were made. Avoid this place! Take your business to another office where everything regarding BILLING, cost of services, visit policies and insurance is made VERY CLEAR when you inquire about becoming a patient. read more

Went through an awkward stage in my life where I had a mine field of pimples on my forehead. My roommate took me one day to get an acne facial with Melanie at Ava MD and my face is forever changed. The facility is located in a cute little area in Beverly Hills. you walk in and everything is simple, white, and modern. Service is pretty nice. Sometimes there's a really sassy receptionist but I don't see her there anymore so...deuces. The facials are a bit pricey but it's completely worth it. I get 30 minute facials for $80 or if I have enough time, 1 hour facials for $120. And these facials I only do every 2-3 months with the seasonal changes. Melanie does an INCREDIBLE job extracting all the gross things on my face, even the ones that haven't even started showing on my face. Extractions can be painful but it's worth it in the end. She's VERY hygienic and makes sure anything that touches my face is sterilized. Plus, she doesn't use the pimple extraction tool that looks like one of the tools used in the dentist office, which I think makes things worse. The facial is finished off with a blue light treatment that closes up the pores and kills any bacteria; a nitrogen treatment that closes up the pores. With the one hour facial, you get a nice massage and a really nice, refreshing face mask. If you ever feel the need to splurge and have a "ME" day, I would totally recommend getting a facial at ava md (GO SEE MELANIE!! I've been going to her for the past 3 years) No Pain no gain. seriously. read more

Dear Dr. Ava, Bernice is a definite angel. She is a wonderfully talented aesthetician and beautiful, kind person. I had followed her here from another clinic because she is that special. She takes care to offer very healthful maintenance with a calming friendliness. Kelly at the front desk is really friendly & professional as well, and other employees whose names I am not familiar with have been consistently nice to me, which I greatly appreciate. There is a really nice atmosphere there in your clinic: simple and clean, with the calm feeling of a focus on health, beauty and balance. In my opinion. :). I always feel good on the way in and on the way out of any appt. over the years. PS: I would say I think I have been a client of Bernice's for about 7 or 8 years now (as of 2015). I came to Ava MD for the MiraDry procedure three days ago. And I'm not ashamed to admit that, (a) I went to a medical spa, and (b) I had MiraDry done. So I'll tell you about both: I've quietly suffered from axillary hyperhidrosis since I was 13. The existing options were terrible until the FDA recently approved MiraDry. It's been four days since the procedure and I've literally been cured. I go back for my final treatment in a few months for a second round of sweat-gland homocide. The professional who did the procedure on me was named Holly and she was really great! Since you have to spend two hours with this person, I was lucky that she was fun and that made the procedure go quickly. This was my first experience being inside of a medical spa. It was immaculate. I easily found parking in the street on a Saturday afternoon and they even put quarters in my meter on the day of the procedure so I didn't have to go outside with purple marker under my arms! I am still a little swollen, but there has been no pain at all. So for people like me, MiraDry is a medical miracle. And Ava MD made it a perfect experience. Pretty awesome. read more

Dr. Ava and her staff are amazing. I have been patient on and off for more than 20 years (only time off is when living on east coast). I had a cyst removed from my ear at their SM office and there is next to no evidence it ever existed. This was covered by insurance with very reasonable co-payment. I mainly go for medical care and Dr. Ava and her staff are great educators and advocates for preventative medicine when it comes to skin health. read more
