He pointed me towards some cuccuzza seedling (which I bought, and thrived all season) as well as some eggplant (a variety from Italy). I got a few other plants (peppers and things) and was happy to get his advice as well as some plants I couldn't get at my local home improvement chain store. They don't have a huge selection of organic gardening products (worm castings, for example) and don't have supplies for backyard chickens or pets - so I go to one of a couple of other local garden suppliers for those items. They DO have organic gardening soil, but if they carried a wide selection of items for organic gardeners like me I would give them 5 stars. These guys know their stuff, and the owner's family has been in the area for generations. The staff also seems very knowledgeable, and they carry products you can't find in the chains. So I recommend you check out Southern Gateway if you live in the Westbank.

Even without the procrastinators' special, the trees are reasonably priced here and great quality. We ended up getting a beautiful 6/7ft tree for our apartment! The service here is incredible! The gentleman who helped us was so friendly and helpful. He helped us load up our car, gave us complimentary garland, and was super cheery and humble. He clearly works really hard and it shows! They accept credit card payments and also sell wreaths and garland. Conveniently located at Perkins and Bluebonnet, lots of free parking in the lot, and open late. We liked that we were supporting a small business instead of getting our tree at a big box store. Hope to make A's a tradition whenever we are in town for Christmas!

I decided it would complement my holiday spirit to shop with an eggnog daiquiri so I hauled our entire family over to Marrero, yo, where I could grab a drive thru daiquiri en route to this tree farm on the Best Bank. Mistake, brah. They advertise trees from $19 but there were exactly two raggedy ass ones that were $50 and everything else was $70+. Whatever, I'm sippin the Nog so we stay the course. We found a gorgeous tree for $70. I noticed that one spot looked a little brown but dude said it was dirt and to mist it with water, it was fine. That man is a liar. One day later in my house I have a totally dead Christmas tree-- we've had needles everywhere for the last week and a half. The tree is perfectly shaped and also perfectly dead. Why did I tip him $10? Next year I will make my own Nog and stay on the east bank.

We went to another tree lot and that place was absolutely out of our price range. Which was kind of surprising because the selection also wasn't as great. So we then made our way here to A's Toy Soldier Christmas Trees. Upon arrival we were greeted by a nice fellow who introduced himself and asked if we needed help. We said we weren't sure what we were looking for but if we needed help we'd ask him. We looked around and the prices were clearly posted at the front. It seemed they had a color coded system which made it easier for us to pick a tree out. They only have frasier fir trees which was what we usually buy so that was a plus. They had lots of 6-7ft trees that were full and straight. I look for bare spots as that is something I try to avoid when buying. Hardly any of the trees we saw had bare spots. The amount of good looking trees we saw made it difficult to pick one because we saw many. However we finally settled on one. My husband called over the gentleman who originally greeted us and he took care of the rest. He trimmed the bottom, netted it, and placed it in our car. I couldn't be happier with the end result. Our tree is beautiful! Home Depot is likely to be a thing of the past and we come here from now on!

While, I'm not a regular shopper here, I do like to walk around and catch some great finds at great prices when I do visit. I initially went there for coffee because the price of coffee in grocery stores is up there with the price of gas and beef under the 2.0 Orange Man in the Oval. Although I don't care for or own a Keurig machine, I bought these pods for the price: 80 for $25. I just cut open the lid and pour the grounds into the filter, let it brew and call it a day. This store didn't have any regular ground coffee only tons of K-pods. First time trying Entenmann's coffee, in fact, I didn't know they made coffee, (although it makes sense because they started out making pastries) but these flavors are amazingly good!! I love the maple pecan so far. They also have cinnamon apple, pumpkin spice, and cinnamon crumb cake - 20 pods each. Very bold and rich despite the setting on my Cafe Specialty Drip Maker, I always select the gold and not bold. You will indeed get a caffeine rush with a nice aroma with each sip. I will say, they do have some unusual food items like pistachio milk and salt and vinegar pickled eggs!! I remember pickled eggs back in the day but the brine was reddish in color. Not sure what's in here but I'll pass. I haven't tried the pistachio milk yet but I bought it for my coffee....hoping it's good for only $0.99.
