Major Issues (Engine Light & AC Failure) After New Motor Install I am writing this review regarding service provided by Galveston Automotive Professionals in Galveston, TX, for my 2015 Chevy Tahoe. Approximately two weeks ago to five months ago, I had a new motor installed in my vehicle, a significant and costly repair. My experience has been extremely disappointing, as the shop's work introduced new, critical problems that were not present when I dropped off the vehicle. Specific Issues: Immediately after receiving my vehicle back with the new motor installed, the Check Engine light illuminated. This indicates a primary failure or error associated with the new engine installation or related sensors. Concurrently, the air conditioning system no longer worked at all. The AC was in perfect working order before I brought the vehicle in for the motor replacement. Resolution Attempt: I tried multiple times over several weeks to resolve these issues with the shop directly. I attempted professional communication and requested they fix the new problems resulting from their work. My attempts were met with dismissal, and the shop ultimately refused to properly diagnose or fix the Check Engine light issue and the now-broken AC system. Conclusion: I do not recommend Galveston Automotive Professionals based on this experience. The fact that a major engine installation resulted in two additional significant system failures immediately upon return is unacceptable. Their refusal to stand behind their work and fix the issues they caused demonstrates a severe lack of professionalism and customer care. My family was in Galveston on vacation. Our vehicle had made some noises on the way down to Galveston, so I was concerned about getting back home safely and without doing further damage. Mark really saved us: 1) He was open on a Saturday (hard to find that). 2) He listened patiently and did a thorough test drive. 3) In the end, he told me what was wrong, estimated the cost, AND said I'd be okay getting it repaired after the vacation. I paid him a diagnostic fee (of my own initiative). Based on this limited experience, Mark is a kind man who knows his stuff, is honest, and doesn't want to take advantage of the customer. So I had to take my Chevy truck here because my radiator blew while I was on vacation an they were fast and reliable and a great price. My son came down another time and got in an accident and they found him a matching rim, tire, fixed shock and made the car drivable so he could get back safe! Man I love these guys and they will always have my business!! Down to earth with great prices!!! read more

Drove down from Dallas on a Sunday and started hearing a terrible noise coming from the front right tire. Called Automotive Professionals and Mark answered on a Sunday and told us he would open up Monday morning at 8:00 am and to bring in the vehicle at that time (this was great since we were not leaving until Tuesday and my parents also came down from Dallas, so we did have some form of transportation). Monday morning we told Mark what we thought the issue was and by 1:30 we had the vehicle back and the bill was only $48!!!! He confirmed that the issue was what we thought it was, fixed the issue and checked the other side and tighten that side up as well. We were in a vulnerable situation and he could have said it was anything, but was honest and fixed the issue without charging us an arm and a leg. I own a 2012 Kia with 131k miles on it. I have owned it since new. Last week as I pulled up to a business at LaMarque on highway I-45 stopped in front of a business...stopped put my shifter in Park and removed my foot off the break my car started moving in Drive towards climbing the curb toward the glass front doors of the business. ( Didn't realize at the time but my car was still in drive.) Had to call AAA and be towed back home to Galveston. The next morning I called 3 Kia Dealerships. All 3 had same answer... My shifting cable assembly had to be replaced at a cost of $187.00 for the cable and $140/$160 per hour Labor... They said that job is a minimum of 2 hour job... so it would cost me a bill around $600/$800... and most likely the part would have to be ordered from Korea... they also said they are waiting for parts for other customers cars since last May.....At that point I remembered that I knew Mark at Automotive Professionals since he was 16 years old when he was working part time as a mechanic for a friend of mine who had his own repair shop. When I talked to Mark and told him I had watched 2 YouTube videos that show that the bushing that attached the cable to the floor shifter could be replaced with a new bushing I asked him if he could do it. He told me that he would have to look at it then if that was the problem he could replace the bushing. I asked Mark the cost and he said around $140 parts and Labor. I asked what was his labor rate and he told me he charges $80 per hour. The next morning I had AAA tow my car to Mark's shop. About 2 hours later Mark calls me a said as they were pushing my car into his shop he could hear my rear brakes grinding metal to metal. When they inspected the rear brakes he called me back and told me that his suspension was right... metal to metal. I told him that they were the original brakes and I had 131k miles on the car and give me a price to replace the rotors and brake pads... He quoted me a price around $320. He also told me that my car would be ready at the end of the day. Later that day Mark called me that my car was ready and I could pick it up. When I came to Marks shop and asked what were my charges ...Mark presented me the bill with the...C O R R E C T.... charges he had told me on the phone......( unheard of in Today's World) He explained to me exactly what his mechanics did. I asked him how were my front breaks and Mark answered me... With my limited driving habits they should last a while longer.......Thats Honesty & Integrity... read more

they kept my car for 5 1/2 months....put an engine in that doesn't match the year/model...so, it doesn't match the computer or electrical system...my car will not pass an emissions test. I suspect it didn't need a new engine in the first place....80,000 miles and well maintained. read more

Worst decision I ever made taking my car there. Gave them the benefit of doubt even when Mark asked for money up front. Parts where broken and missing he explained how his helpers probably threw them away accidently. He said he would replace the parts still waiting........ another law suit in the works.. read more

Mark owns and operates this place. Do not go near him or his shady staff of low-life mechanics. If eternal life was gained or lost by how fairly you treated those in need, I would seriously worry for this man. I am from Houston and almost got stranded on the island with my kids and Mark tried to take me for 1,800 dollars. I got the car home on its own steam and paid 535.00 at Corbs auto for the repair. Mark told me a coil pack and 2 of my 4 catalytic converters were bad and the parts alone would be over 1k. Of course when I got it home to my personal mechanic I found that my converters were just fine and did not need replacing. This man cannot be trusted. Do yourself a favor and steer clear. If he knows you are in a pickle, he will capitalize on it. read more

Mark and his help have always been good to me, always made sure that my car was safe, always was able to explain to me my options before he ever made a decision that could make me broke. I can't say anything bad about this place. Now I've started having my company truck fixed by mark too. Go and see for your self that mark is smart ( he has went to school for exotic imports), and will treat you right. You can't please everybody, but mark tries to, despite the fact that some folks u can't make happy. I have even seen him do some stuff for free for some folks because it's so easy for him. Mark deserves good reviews because he is a good guy who does good work on all my cars. read more

After conducting some business I needed to tend to in Galveston, TX my Wheel Bearing on my Ford Focus was on the verge of breaking off on my way back to Houston. I was totally stranded and didn't know much about the mechanics in the Galveston area. I was lead to " Automotive Professionals" on 5012 Broadway Avenue J, Galveston, TX 77551. I met the owner by the name of Mark. He was very welcoming and immediately assuring that my issue with the vehicle would be taken care of promptly and correctly. Not only did Mark and his friendly assistant Guy fix the issue with my vehicle they went the extra mile and helped me out with another issue with my vehicle. Their prices are extremely reasonable and competitive. They are one the most hard working and honest mechanics I have ever dealt with in my years. I rate this company "A" plus and would recommend anyone with any automobile issues to take their vehicles here. Not only are they great mechanics they are true Angels. read more

Automotive Professionals may not charge as much but they will make unnecessary repairs, so you end up paying more in the long run. I went to this business for over 2 years, thinking they were honest and less expensive. Then I found out otherwise (I guess I'm a slow learner). The last time I had my car repaired at this shop (I have a '93 Mazda Miata), the estimate was for "around $400". When I picked up my car, it was over $800! What the owner, Mark Droge, thought was the problem turned out NOT to be the problem, but he apparently went ahead and fixed the non-problem anyway. After changing the transmission fluid and putting in a new filter, he discovered the car needed the drive shaft(s) replaced. I don't know a lot about cars, which guys like this prey upon, and this sounded expensive to me. I'd told him when I dropped the car off that morning that I did not want to sink a lot of money into this car anymore. To reassure me, I guess, he said the labor would only be around $80. When I asked how much the part was, he said "around $200". As it turned out, the labor was WAY over $80, because he changed the fluid and filter anyway, and the part was $400, not $200. He assured me he got a deal on the part and actually "saved me money". I paid the bill, against my better judgment, but I will never return to this shop again. Because I have an older car and wasn't able to buy another at the time, he made a LOT of money off me. There was no need to screw me over. Auto mechanics who take advantage of people because they know little about cars are the worst kind of vultures. read more
