***Best mechanic in Green Bay*** I went to Auto Select for all my major Jeep repairs while living in Green Bay for 6 years. I took my car there because that's where the station company cars went. Owner Josh is genuine, hardworking, fair and very knowledgeable. Getting your car fixed sucks but Josh and the mechanics who worked with him always helped me out. Highly highly disappointed in this place. Every time I have brought my vehicle in to get repaired when I get it back there's something new wrong with it. Like this last time. I dropped it off my heat worked my radio worked my power locks worked. When I get it back none of that works. They claim I need a new fuse box lm. But it worked just fine when I dropped it off. So they want me to shell out almost $400 for a fuse box a used one. I just don't get how it goes bad sitting at their shop. When there was no inclination that it was bad prior to me dropping it off. Plus there is some new noise coming from the rear of the vehicle that was not there prior to me dropping off . I just paid them over $1500 to have some work done and this is what I get. These guys are awesome! We were traveling to Door County and area with our motor home. Our brake caliper was stuck and melting, we were stranded. They got us in for an appointment and fixed our brakes within an hour and a half! We ventured across the street to check out Lambeau Field and had lunch. We were afraid since we were seen without an appointment, and stuck, it would be expensive. We are retired and the cost was important. They were so reasonable we could not have been happier or more relieved! The guys were so professional and even gave us information on things to do and see in the area. Very disappointed!!!!!!!! Got ripped off!!!! We were told really good things and so we decided to go there for our new vehicle inspection. They stated on the paper that some things were wrong on the vehicle and they weren't. They didn't even point out the one thing we knew was wrong on the vehicle! They said my shocks were leaking fluid when I don't have hydrolic shocks (so no fluid is running there) told me my almost brand new tires were bad, told me that I was over 2 quarts low of oil when I was maybe 1/2 quart low. Told me my cabin filter was dirty (it was) and there was a mouse nest in there but while it was all apart wouldn't take the 2 seconds to clean out the nest! I would give 0 stars if that is an option!!! Save your money and go somewhere else!!!!! read more

Updated: I spoke with Josh who sincerely apologized, offered us a restaurant gift card, and also paid for the work done at the other garage. While I'm not satisfied with our initial experience, he did go the extra mile to rectify it and I do appreciate that very much. This is the type of auto experience you should be afraid of. Taking advantage, lazy, and trying to sell you something you don't need! My fiancé had a flat tire and wanted to go somewhere close. After getting her spare on, we took her vehicle here. While dropping off and enquiring as to their hours, the tech we spoke to said they were open until 5:30, then said, "Well, technically 6, but when people come in at 5 minutes til, we have to stay and do paperwork." Very poor professionalism. Next, they tried to sell her two new tires when only one was required. They suggested replacing both front tires and putting the one that was still good in our garage as a spare. What?? Why am I buying two tires to let one sit in my garage. Let's go ahead and put the two in the back up front and the new one in the back. They agreed to this. When we picked up the car, they had put the new tire in the front, causing the vehicle to pull. Now we have to go somewhere else to get the tires rotated! Not to mention they just threw the donut in the trunk rather than it's holder. STAY AWAY! read more

I walked into Select with an exact sentence of exactly what I wanted done. ONE tire, ONE set of brakes. This was to tide me over until Winter until it was warm enough to do the rest of it myself. I must have told the receptionist this at least 4 times. The desk person kept saying "well, we'll take a look at it and get you an estimate". NOT ONCE did he mention they could not do only one wheel. NOT ONCE did he say there was a charge to give me an estimate. I have never been charged for an estimate in y 50 years of life!! I was called 4 hours later which was way too late to even start the brakes on the car. The estimate was outrageous. When I went to pick up the car to take it elsewhere they wanted to charge me $70 for the estimate. Needless to say, I didn't pay it. Service people in Green Bay seem to think they can charge a person for estimates knowing they are less likely to walk away from an overcharge if they have invested in paying for the estimate, which I think is a bunch of BS. If you provide good service, have a good name and do good work for a FAIR price, you won't have to worry about people walking away and going elsewhere. I found a guy on Craigslist to do them for $100 instead of the over $800 Select wanted. It will take me exactly one hour to do the others myself this Summer. Seriously?? $400 an hour for a mechanic??? Select may be good at what they do, I don't know if they are or aren't but they need to be upfront about charging for estimates and honest about what they can and cannot or refuse do before charging their customers. read more
