My car was taken to Auto Boutique by Eddy's Body Shop, next door to them. I have to be fair that much of may not be on them, with theft exceptions. The car was there for hail damage repair.
I do know that the body shop told me that it had gone to detail six times, and still needed it. Again some of this is on the body shop as they could have put plastic over the interior, which they didn't so black leather was covered in the white, very hard to get off sanding dust.
I had requested that they not use a fragrance and they did honor that request. I also asked that they not shampoo the interior as I didn't want that shampoo smell, in a new car, where it smelled like a cheap rental.
The leather was cleaned, yet not much attention was paid to cleaning the stitching and seams. The dash had much missed, again on the body shop it should have been covered, but the speakers were caked with the sanding dust which wasn't cleaned. The seat tracks were not cleaned, however everything that was in my car was thrown in the back. Not totally true, the trash and empty wrappers from emblems and stickers to paint can tops were stuffed in the glove compartment for me to clean out.
Though much of this could be put on the body shop, I am trying to be fair. The work I saw was mediocre though it could be what was requested by the shop that took it there, as there was little respect shown for my property throughout this entire process.
My car is equipped with a dash cam that also records the inside of the vehicle. Though there had been many attempts to disconnect or override it, they evidently didn't know about that new fangled tech with high output capacitors. In any case it transmitted approximately 96 hours of video to me with the various drivers from the body shop behind the wheel, as well as the ones from detail.
This is two of the videos that gives me pause on the honesty and integrity of Auto Boutique. It is easy to tell that this employee is from Auto Boutique as it is stitched on his shirt.
I don't know what he was looking for in the console, on not one but two occasions. Evidently he found the $5 emergency money that was in the lower compartment, as it wasn't there any longer. Cheap admission to view someone's character.
In addition this business then posted to carfax that they had detailed and services my car--They did not. They didn't wash the car at all, because it was sent over to them without windows. The top of the car wasn't washed and there was a good quarter inch of polishing compound still on the roof when it was delivered to me. They state they replaced windshield wipers, they did not. In fact I ended up paying $102 and replaced the ones that were shredded when I got the car back.
I welcome everyone to draw your own conclusions, and make your own decision. From what I saw and experienced, would I take my car there on my own? Absolutely with out any hesitation I would say a very emphatic -NO!
WARNING!!!! Remove all items including your proof of insurance and registration. This is a perfect storm for identity theft. I am not saying this happened. It's just being cautious when you can see that people have no boundaries in property that isn't theirs. read more
