Each section dedicated to plants from different parts of the world. There is also a succulent garden with species from around the world. A palm house. Giant green spaces for picnics, trails around the park and along the water for runners and walkers. Benches to rest all along the park. Let me repeat, this is a huge park. By the waterfront you have a great view of the harbor bridge as well as the opera house. There is a small visitor center, a snack bar restaurant and also a fine dining restaurant. Various tours are offered if you feel like learning more about the plants or the birds or the history. Something for every taste here.

We walked along its well-paved, well-maintained waterfront pathways and into a few of the 15 various themed areas (Australian Rain Forest, Rose Garden, The Calyx, Fernery, Palace Garden, and Australian native collection). These gardens offered stunning views, a peaceful oasis, self-guided tours, and free Wi-Fi. Also, the Royal Botanic Gardens is home to the National Herbarium of New South Wales, which plays a leading scientific role. It took us several hours to complete our walk because we stopped several times to admire the various trees, plants, and flowers in different areas, before my allergies told me to exit the gardens. But, we saw many visitors and residents, families, couples, or singles making their day in the gardens through exercise or relaxation. Along the way, we also saw several well-dressed couples staging their wedding photos with professional photographers, the gardens providing beautiful, natural backdrops. We'd love to return to complete admiring the garden grounds, but I'll make sure to take medication before going, as I didn't realize how sensitive I would be to the native plants, trees, and flowers.

Basically a terraced jungle setting in the middle of a metropolis, lots of paths and steps so be prepared for a bit of a workout in the summer. Located near Luna Park, though access between the garden and Luna Park is only through an underpass at the north end of the garden. Lots of shade, tables and benches to sit, and truly nice views of the Harbor Bridge. Free to boot so it's really a must-visit.

I was expecting a small museum that would take 30 minutes max to go through. Thankfully I was so wrong. Before even opening the door of the museum I was greeted by one of the docents who was lovely throughout the tour. The entire tour lasted about 70 minutes and was fascinating. She explained the origins of the hospital and detailed history of the nursing staff who truly started the practice of nursing, as directed and sent by Florence Nightingale. While I was vaguely aware of the Nightingale connection I was surprised to find so many items that were either owned by Nightingale or given to the nurses from Florence Nightingale. With all the objects of the museum donated I think they have a truly remarkable collection, including old medical objects, photos of nursing staff, training uniforms, chemist set, to go bag of pharmaceuticals (for visiting rural areas), and medals received for service in the Crimea War. In general, I think it helps to have a medical background in order to understand how great this collection is and to be able to easily compare the collection to current medical practice. That being said, the docents ask prior to the tour if you have any medical knowledge. The only area of the museum that I didn't enjoy was part of the new wing and was two rooms of medical specimens, including the preserved fetus from an abortion. There were many different cancers (breast, ovarian, colorectal) also on display. I think generally people should be warned prior to going into those rooms. $5 Admission per person, cash only Photos are ok, no flash Will be asked to leave larger items (camera bags, backpacks) in the office Very limited hours! The middle is open (like a donut), as is one side of it. As for the rest, there's a cafe, a meeting space (possibly an extension of the cafe, but for private parties), a small gift shop, and a long room with changing exhibits. When I went, the theme was pollination. There were many plants and flowers growing and in addition, the entire back wall was covered in plants. It was both creative and beautiful! I liked it and would recommend checking it out if you are nearby. I do only give it 4 stars though because that one room is pretty much all there is, and the Calyx is tucked away in a back corner of the botanical garden, so not exactly the most convenient location.

I park in the domain every day - but have to alert people that the moving footway is NEVER working…read more- well not at least in 2022. I have seen elderly people & families with young kids who park in the Domain because it is good value struggle up the footway. That is not really fair Sydney City Council ! When it is turned on & running it is fantastic. Sydney Council probably trying to save money on electricity - but it makes it most inconvenient. I recommend that before you go up the footway then consider walking across the park. It is really beautiful (except when it is raining) and you access it simply by the stairs / elevator.
