I felt like I was walking into a post office of the future. It was incredibly advanced and clean, and heaps of bright space unlike the tired looking cluttered space full of junk in other post offices (this one still has the junk that I don't understand why post offices sell but it's neatly stored). There are a range of electronic post options, including a vending machine that sells envelopes and parcel sleeves, a self-posting area which generates postal receipts upon dropping a letter or parcel into the box, and electronic parcel lockers. There's still the traditional staffed counters for those who are scared of the new technology. It would be 5 stars if it's opening hours were better!

Now the restaurant itself: the entrees were nice if pricy which was expected, but the mains are just not to the level of the visual experience you are having - beyond the stuffy plastic gazebo under which you are lunching that is. The quality of the kangaroo meat was average, with a side of beetroot and Gorgonzola salad that lacked subtlety is presentation or refinement. Which in this context was disappointing. The wine list is nice and it saved the meal on my end. It is a shame that the restaurant has opted for a half-hearted elegant cuisine instead of a fine dining restaurant on the one end, or a simpler menu with quality products. The price is not high in itself but when measured against the quality of the meal ... The museum and the explanations about the fort's history are interesting and displayed in a very accessible set of little rooms next to the restaurant. I really enjoyed learning about this iconic landmark. I recommend it strongly but not for the food!

I did get to see some animals though and it was pretty interesting to see an imu up close and other native animals. Entrance fee was free when I went, but I didn't enjoy the scenery as much as I would've liked. My favorite part was the peacocks. I've never seen one up close before so that was pretty cool and there were many of them too.

And there's always tons of stuff happening inside, from functions to galas to the library on the First Floor (pro tip: there's tons of kids books if you're lugging the little ones around Circular Quay and they get tired). Oh and it's made of sandstone, my favourite of all building materials. And there's pretty pictures projected onto it when Vivid is on. And Cafe Sydney is on the top floor. It's a triple threat.
