My older Dyson canister vacuum was making a whining noise and there was no suction. I drove to San Antonio from New Braunfels to have it repaired. Don, the owner checked it out and found a clog due to my bobby pin lodging sideways in the hose. He fixed it in about 10 minutes and I was on my way home. I gave him a smile and a big hug. This is the best service I've ever received on any appliance I've had repaired. Thanks Don...you made my day read more

What are the odds that both of my vacuums decided to stop working at the same time? Pretty low I would suspect but they did. Called around to several vacuum repair places and just got the runaround. One guy who calls himself the Vacuum King of San Antonio was so drunk I don't think he knew what planet he was on. Feeling a little dismayed, on the third try saw Austin Vacuum on Yelp and decided to give them a call. I'm definitely glad I did. They were able to fix both my vacuums in one day and the price was excellent. I couldn't believe how reasonable it was to fix my Dyson and Shark. Best part: the owner was sober! The owner, Don I believe, was incredibly nice and we had a friendly conversation while he was loading up my vacuums into my trunk. Do yourself a favor and come here for any of your vacuum repair needs! read more

Huge thanks to Don for working his excellence! He is careful and accurate in his diagnosis. He was extremely kind in explaining what the vacuum issue was: dog hair! He also carried my vacuum out to my car. Highly recommend Don! If there were more great stars, I'd use them all! Perfect service! read more

I took a very old vacuum to Austin Vacuum to see if it could be repaired. Don the owner took it apart while I waited and showed me exactly why it was not working. A small but vital rod was bent and causing sparks and a very loud screech. Once it was taken apart, and I could see all the wear and tear on the inside for myself, it was obvious that this was not repairable. I tried to pay him for diagnosing the problem but he said absolutely not. He did not try to sell me a vacuum, but I asked what he would recommend. He showed me a vacuum he thought would work best for my needs. I asked about the price but before he quoted he showed me on two popular websites what others were charging. He then told me what he charged and it was substantially less. We have two dogs so a good reliable vacuum is a must. I went back a week later and purchased the model he suggested. Don was very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting the best one for our needs - the RICCAR SupraLite. Don was professional, friendly, very easy to work with and not at all pushy. I will recommend Austin Vacuum to my family and friends. read more

Don is hands on and won't quit until he fixes the problem. Love this old fashioned hardworking American owned company. I would recommend Austin Vacuum to anyone who needs vacuum repair. Thanks to Don for fixing my Dyson! He saved me hundreds of dollars because I can't live without my Dyson and my husband is no longer in the dog house for breaking it. read more

Gentleman could not have been friendlier or more helpful. My vacuum works perfectly now. Highly recommend.

My girlfriend went in to buy a new vacuum because she thought hers was broken, and the owner talked her out of it, and asked her to bring the old vacuum in to see if he could fix it. "It could be something I could fix for $20, why buy a new vacuum?" It turned out that dog fur was just clogging it, cleared after taking it apart. He charged nothing for his time. read more

Recommend highly. Repaired and cleaned a Roombaanda small upright vacuum. Fast, reliable service, personable staff and at a very reasonable price. read more

OMG, if you have not had the opportunity to use this service provider, you have surely missed out. As anyone who has purchased a vacuum is sadly aware, this housecleaning necessity is VERY expensive. Oh sure, there are cheapie units out there but I; unfortunately, didn't own one of those. GRRRR! I had a 6 month old $650+ unit that suddenly did nothing when I pushed the on button! So, off I searched for a well reviewed repair store. Don Salminen at Austin Vacuum on 1165 West Ave #2 saved my chits! Helped unload my unwieldy beast and carried it into his store and took down my info. I had barely made it home before he called me to say my brush unit on the vacuum had come in contact with water and shorted out. The repair was under $40 and he had already completed fixing it! This is NOT a foofy store selling kitch and chotchkeys! It is a repair shop run by a gifted Wizard full of witticisms and honest appraisals. Who'd have thought someone could be so happy and excited about working in the vacuum business! Don genuinely enjoys people and his profession. He has multiple key contracts with school districts and businesses around San Antonio, so he clearly has a gift with vacuum systems and is fair in his pricing for services. If you haven't discovered this rare gem of a repair shop, you should add them to your phone contact list immediately. Like death and taxes, we will ALL be forced to deal with a broken vacuum. Why not chose to do business with a reasonable and centrally located shop?! All you have to waste is your time and money ! Do yourself a favor and save this number in your phone because sooner or later your vacuum will get sick - at just the most inconvenient time possible: 210-349-0583 ask for Don and say that the "Yelp Good Fairy" sent ya! Good luck - stay safe and be well read more

Excellent customer service! I took my vacuum in to see if the owner could help me. He looked at it and found a plastic fork stuck in the curve of the hose. Now it runs perfect. read more

GO HERE!! I have a Shark vacuum I love dearly and one day it stop sucking! I've had it for about 5 years and sadly thought this was the end of the road for us! After researching Dyson's and newer model Shark's none of the reviews impressed me. I was sad. I loved my Shark and it's lightweight, pink color, easy maneuverability. EVERYTHING. I was about to throw it away and thought, what would my Mom do!? Take it to a vacuum shop of course!! I came on Yelp! And found this place! It had great reviews so I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. Upon entering I was greeted by the owners smiling face. He immediately plugged in my vacuum and turned it on to diagnose the problem. Right away he took a quick look and knew it was these hidden air filters. He took them out of me and took his air compressor and blew them clean. I felt stupid, haha. After thoroughly inspecting the vacuum assured me it was good to go! I was shocked! It took all of 10-15 minutes. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better he went on Amazon and found the filters for my model of vacuum & texted me the link. The best part? He said since it was such as easy fix I owed him nothing. He said he worked at the shop about 40 years ago and one day bought it from the previous owner. What an amazing story!! I love this business! read more

Don went above and beyond to help us out, had a clogged hose full of dog hair and showed us how to take the hose apart. As soon as my current vacuum dies I will purchase the one he sells (Riccar) Thank you Don for treating us the way we treated our customers. read more

If you're looking for quality work, fast service, reasonable pricing, friendly customer service by the owner - this is THE place to have your vacuum issues taken care of!!! I first used this business to replace a small cord on a canister unit that was 100% ok except going to the powerhead. They happened to even have what I need in the shop luckily and I didn't have to order one from the manufacturer. Problem fixed, back in business, happy customer. I used them again with an unusual problem to a small upholstery/spot cleaner that the company manufacturer had no replacement hose option on(mine had broken at base and not providing suction). Don not being a quitter as most places would have been and threw their hands up....... he and I went over the issue and he came up with a plan to fix so that I could use again as the rest of the unit, 100% fine. Problem fixed, back in biz, happy customer. Thanks to Don, I am able to use perfectly usable systems that just needed some minor fixes to work great again and save me major expense. Highly recommend!!! ( : read more

Fixed my vacuum! Quick, reasonable pricing and friendly service! Very experienced. Fixed it like he was tying a shoelace

Don deserves 100 stars! You don't see business owners like him anymore: honest, knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to go above and beyond. I needed help with a Dyson vacuum and a Hoover shampooer part -- he got me fixed up with both on the spot at no charge. What a breath of fresh air -- hardly anybody these days is this generous and genuinely willing to help. If you need vacuum repairs, parts, or cleaning, Don is your guy! read more

These guys are FANTASTIC! They repaired my vacuum cleaner in a timely manner, they were very professional, and very helpful. They could have easily charged me more for a different part, but they hunted around to save me money and it was under $50 for the repair. We will definitely return if we ever need repairs again! What a wonderful experience buying a new vacuum!! Thank you Don for the time spent with me on making a decision on what I really needed for our home, for putting the vacuum together and not sending me home with it in a box, and for demonstrating the different uses and tricks before I left the store. I highly recommend doing business here. I am new to the area and I will be doing business with Don from here on out. read more

Quick fix to my Hoover windtunnel which hasn't been working for months! The hose was blocked with wads and wads of dog hair, paper, and even a Lincoln log. Took my machine into the shop after not successfully fixing it myself. I described the sounds and issues with my vacuum and the gentleman told me instantly what the problem was. He said I had left off a piece when putting it back together to fix it myself. He proved it by opening it up on the spot and showing me. Then he told me to find that piece because they don't make them any more. To prove it he pulled up Amazon and showed me that was indeed the fact! He did not charge me anything at all. I went home and found the missing piece, popped it in and my machine is as good as new. I was so impressed with his knowledge and with his generosity and willingness to be helpful! read more
