So far so good! After calling 12 apartment locators I was faced with a lot of laziness, disinterest, apathetic attitudes, and just a lot of un-professionalism in general. Email was even worse--for about every 20 or 30 emails I sent to different locators via their postings, I have received maybe two responses. Ugh! Thank goodness for Will!! When my husband and I started looking for a place to live in Austin (4 hours from where we currently live), I thought no problem, I can do this! I've lived all over the US (14 places and counting) and have found all of my previous apartments via Craigslist or through sheer willpower. But this move (to Austin) was a little different. I wasn't sure if I was actually going to move & was completely unfamiliar with the area, prices, etc. Nor did I have the luxury of time to peruse Craigslist, email people, wait for them to *maybe* get back to me, run all over town looking at rando apts., see if prospective landlord(s) were cool with a weird move-in date, etc. Long story short I came across 512 Apartments and the great reviews it had already garnered and thought, what the heck, try them out. The reviews are legit. Will is AWESOME! I hate caps lock as much as the next person, but he's the real deal. He's been great to deal with from the start- asked leading questions, sent me selections based on what I answered- which were easy to navigate and peruse, replying back quickly, even when I sent him a laundry list of questions, etc. He's not at all trying to throw you into a place so he gets his money- his services to you are free! The apartment complexes compensate him for his time. He genuinely wants you to find your next "home." If you're still skeptical here are a few more reasons to use Will- 1) I had a flat tire right before I was going to look at the apartments I'd chosen and he graciously called ahead to the complexes, let them know that I was running late. 2) Once I looked at the places I decided, based on my job site, I'd prefer to live in another part of town than where I'd initially thought. Will to the rescue with a fresh crop of selections! 3) Time, again, is not a luxury that I have and I wasn't able to fly out again to look at the 2nd round of selections. But with my full trust in Will & his judgment I've picked a complex that I'm moving into sight unseen (and also thanks to other Yelp reviews) completely confident that this is the right spot. Will Garrison was amazing! I had about a weeks notice before I had to move to Austin and I got in touch with Will who was more than willing to find me a place in the short amount of time. He got back to me via e-mail the same day I contacted him and the next day he got on the phone and called me to get all the information he needed to start the apartment hunt. I drove down here without a clue as to where I would live or how to find an apartment. I learned of "apartment locators," and decided to look up a few. Before coming across Will, I briefly dealt with another "locator." He wasn't necessarily the greatest help; while he did find me some places that were decently priced and 'okay', none of them felt like a home, and many had bad reviews online. Also, neither of them were close enough to where my job would be. I received a phone call from Will Garrison, who offered to help me find the perfect new "home" in Austin that would suit my needs. He asked me to at least give him the courtesy of swinging by his office and allowing him to find the best possible place where I could live in Austin. He was extremely cordial, down-to-earth, and understanding on the phone, so I figured why not at least give him a chance? AND AM I GLAD I DID! When I first met Will, he approached me with an authentic smile and all the greatness of what I would describe as nothing other than true "southern hospitality." He exceeded all of my expectations. The place I ended up in is a well-managed apartment community that is a NEWER complex with excellent energy efficiency, good neighbors, lots of trees & beauty, in more of a nature setting. The price was perfect and it just felt right. Will didn't just find the perfect apartment for me, but he also goes above and beyond. He became my first friend in Austin, and I can honestly say he is one of the best human beings I have ever met -- a wonderful person who truly cares. After having already moved into the apartment, he consistently keeps in touch with me several times a week.. And it doesn't end there.. Let me point out some outstanding examples of this person's EXEMPLARY duties.. 1.) When I bought my new mattress, Will and his girlfriend picked it up in his truck and took it to my apartment. And not only did he deliver it out of the kindness of his heart, but he helped me carry the mattress and frame up the stairs, then put the bed frame together for me! 2.) To help me settle in and make my place feel like a true home, Will gave me a bunch of things for my apartment, including candles, a coffee maker, some artwork (paintings and woven basket), kitchen utensils, and some other things. 3.) Several weeks after having already moved in, he called to check in with me and see how things were going. I told him I was feeling more at home and that I finally bought a kitchen table. Well, when he heard that, he immediately offered to pick that up for me as well--free of charge! I wasn't able to give him cash before-hand, so he actually paid for it out of his own pocket before I could reimburse him, loaded it into his truck, and brought it to my apartment! Oh yeah, and there was a brief 5-minute delay in his arrival because he was "on the phone with his Mom." A kind-hearted Marine who holds his Mom in the highest regard and talks to her every day; that's another great quality. 4.) There was a time I locked my keys in my car at a work site, and, you guessed it--Will went to my apartment complex, picked them up, and drove out of his way to get them to me so that I could get in my car. I'm sure some people may think I am making this up, but I COULDN'T. Will is just a downright wonderful individual. I know it may seem beyond comprehension that there is somebody out there who is just that authentically helpful and willing to help a stranger to town, but it is all true.. Everybody should be so fortunate to have an apartment locator / realtor like Will. This man should be cloned. He is a well-mannered individual with a heart as big as TX itself. You may find a good apartment locator who is good at their "job," but I highly doubt you will find someone as cordial and honest as Mr. Garrison.
