The bridge is famous for its direct view of Neuschwanstein Castle and the surrounding mountains and countryside. We had clear weather, which made the scenery even more beautiful. The view of Neuschwanstein from the bridge is definitely one of those picture-perfect views you come to Germany hoping to see. It can get crowded on the bridge, but it was absolutely worth it for the view. Take a few minutes to look beyond the castle too -- the mountains and valley surrounding it are gorgeous. Definitely a must-do when visiting Neuschwanstein Castle, especially if you're lucky enough to have a beautiful clear day like we did!

The way back was a little more nerve-racking as there were more people and I was trying to walk fast. There's a nice little area on the far side, where you can sit and admire the castle ruins, before returning back across the bridge. I couldn't see an alternative way back so make sure you can stomach crossing the bridge twice! BEWARE; The lift pass costs extra (so your highline ticket goes from €10 to €19 very quickly!). I didn't read anything about having to take the lift up on the website, so if the information is on there, it's not obvious. I couldn't see if there was a way to walk up but I assume there is...? However, the lift does take you up to the ruins and you can walk around them for free. You can also get an additional lift pass (for another fee) to continue to the very top way above the castle ruins. I didn't feel the need as the view is already pretty spectacular from the castle ruins. Worth a visit if heights are your thing!

This is a value attraction for sure. For 8 euro (plus 4 or 5 parking), you get access to castle…read moreruins, the highline bridge, a great view and some exercise in. You park in the lot and need to get a ticket from a machine (euro coins only) or you can purchase it with your access ticket at the shop - you will then need to bring it back out to your car. You then walk approx 15-20 minutes - uphill to access the castle ruins and bridge. On the other side of the bridge there are additional structures and a great viewing platform. To me this is a great deal to cover so many bases. If we lived local, I could see doing this again as it is something the whole family would enjoy. We really enjoyed this.

If you are a Richard Wagner fan this place has tons of homages to the famous classic composser. Stunning views. visit the bridge above for another great vantage point. There is a simple tour you get using a listening device and it is well worth the effort. Highly recommend.

We took the horse-drawn carriage up toward the castle, which was a fun experience and the horses were adorable. Just be aware that the carriage does not take you all the way to the castle -- you still have an uphill walk afterward to reach the entrance. One thing I really didn't understand was the amount of horse poop all over the road. There didn't appear to be any type of bag or collection system behind the horses, so as you're walking up and around this incredibly popular tourist attraction, you're literally dodging piles of horse poop along the road. With the number of visitors and carriages going through here, it seems like there has to be a better system for keeping the area clean. Our castle tour was scheduled for 1:40 PM, and even though we arrived about 40 minutes early, we weren't allowed inside until our exact tour time. Once inside, there are several flights of stairs before reaching the tour area. That normally wouldn't be an issue for us, but we were traveling with my 70-year-old in-laws, who simply needed a little extra time on the stairs. It would have been helpful to allow guests inside a few minutes early so anyone who needs additional time could make their way upstairs without being rushed. What was especially frustrating was that the tour started before our entire group had even made it upstairs and gathered together. The guide moved very quickly, spoke extremely fast and didn't consistently wait for everyone to enter the room before beginning the next explanation. At times she was so far ahead that the audio through the speaker was going in and out. The tour groups also felt much too large. Splitting the groups in half would make a huge difference. It would give people time to actually enter each room, see what is being discussed and hear the information before being moved along. The castle itself is gorgeous and I'm glad we saw it in person, but the tour didn't provide nearly as much information as I expected because everything felt so rushed. Between the tour organization, accessibility/pacing issues and the conditions along the carriage route, there is a lot of room for improvement here. Beautiful castle, but based on our experience, I would not recommend the tour.

We had my son's birthday breakfast here while on vacation. I thought "what a better breakfast than…read moreon top of the alps?" No reservations so we showed right at 9:15. They weren't ready so we headed to the very top on the gondola and then back down to seegrube. At that point they were ready to seat. Now, I had no idea what we were getting us into - so when I found out is was price fixed with champagne I was waiting to get hit with a big bill. Only €62 for all 4 of us! We got champagne, orange juice, coffee, assorted meats and cheeses (including salmon), fruit, yogurt, granola, breads, pastries, and eggs scrambled or soft boiled. It was THE BEST breakfast of the trip, to the point that I'll overlook them not being ready at opening and still give them 5 stars :). Mountains and delicious food? Perfect.
