They go above and beyond to make the child feel comfortable, teach relevant material, demonstrate science experiments, nature walks with kids and countless productive/fun projects. While the children may be advancing academically, they are also taught to develop as a person and become leaders, be respectful, compassionate, develop good character, friendly through various community building exercises. I can't say enough good things about Kensington. Both of our boys went to Kensington from an early age. In fact, our oldest son went to Kensington in La Grange for a few years. Overall he had a great experience in La Grange, but this location was hands down better. Better administrator, teachers, and facility. Both boys flourished while at Kensington. But here is the proof positive that they do well for your kids. Our older son is now eight and in the 3rd grade. He's doing really well - LOVES to read, placed in advanced math, and overall, just enjoys school and learning. I believe Kensington teachers had a lot to do with that outcome. I do have to agree with other Yelpers that the corporate management is not great having had a few run-ins with them over billing. It's also costly. As much as it stinks to pay lots of money for child care, it's worth it. It was money well spent and I'd do it over again in a New York minute.

I truly cannot say enough about this school. When we came to the school, our son struggled with…read morereading and writing for quite some time. Within two months after he started at FVMS, we could already see MAJOR improvement. The improvements continued and now, he tries to read while he is walking. I never thought I would ever tell him not to read, but I had to draw the line when he was trying to read and walk! Do you know what he told me when I stopped him...."but mom, I love to read". Ahhhhh...what a relief to a parent to have confirmation that they made the right choice in switching schools. There are many other wonderful things about the school too! Extra curricular activities including chess, karate, cooking and yoga are offered on campus. It is totally awesome that when we pick our kids up from school that they are done with everything and we can go home (instead of carting them all over town to off campus classes, running late to everything and sliding in to home with no time for a decent dinner or quality family time...not to mention everyone is tired, stressed and fighting...you know what I mean). My children both began their education as toddlers at FVMS and both completed the program in sixth…read moregrade. This is not a traditional school, they allow children to make mistakes and encourage them to find the answers. They support the children in learning how to communicate with each other in addition to teaching beyond educational standards in arithmetic, writing language science and so on. My children left Montessori and felt that the public schools were not able to keep pace with what they learned through these programs. They have both expressed that their public school experience is socially disappointing because the students are often unkind and treat each other with disrespect. While my children were encouraged to help peers there public student peers are often concerned with shaming and putting peers who are different than themselves down. Fox Valley Montessori taught my children that learning is fun, that curiosity is a value. My children learned to be respectful, they learned how to manage their work and it is serving them quite well in high school as they manage their time for finals and AP classes. This is not a traditional school, it is so much more, this school teaches your child what community is. Their Montessori education has prepared them far better than I could have imagined and I cannot recommend this school enough.

We were quoted one tuition rate, but shortly after enrollment, it increased without warning. When I questioned it, I was told, "It's only a $50 difference, and if you can't afford it, we can unenroll them." That response was hurtful and unprofessional. Tuition is over $1,600/month for toddlers and increased again starting July, yet the meals provided are minimal, often just half a Nutri-Grain bar and faucet water. Parents also have to pay out of pocket for anything extra, making it hard to see where the high tuition is going. Despite the high cost, my son struggled during his kindergarten readiness test, unable to count to 20 or say his ABCs, basic skills I expected him to learn. I've since withdrawn him from the center. I cannot recommend this location. The care and education do not match the price parents are paying.

The Directors are supportive, approachable, and truly care about both the staff and the children we serve. They create an environment that values creativity and learning, and it's clear they're passionate about what they do. Administration makes sure that we have everything that we need for our classrooms, lesson plans, and art projects. I have worked at several corporate and private schools where that was not the case, so am very grateful that everything is provided for the teachers. The nature program here is a real highlight. The school offers enriching experiences like gardening, bird watching, and even raising and releasing butterflies, which really engages the kids with the natural world around them. It's rewarding to watch them get excited about these activities and grow curious about the environment. The nature staff are well-trained and knowledgeable in all aspects of nature education. Both of my kids love going there. The indoor gym (OMG!) in Chicago winters its a blessing. The classrooms are great and the teachers are so dedicated. We live near a facility and assumed that our little guy would go there - but when we did our visit, it was just ok. Now what? A good friend sends her children to The Gardner School of Oak Brook and recommended the Naperville location to me. When we checked the school out, I cried over how much I loved it (and I'm not a crier - I'm super pale and get very blotchy; it's not cute). We signed him up immediately and have been happy with that decision ever since. First, the location is easily accessible from a variety of locations - we are in downtown Naperville, but have friends who are in Aurora, Sugar Grove, Wheaton, etc. The facility is secure and requires two passcodes before entering the main area. It's also extremely clean - I wish my house was that clean... :) But the most important part of TGS is the care and attention that the teachers and directors give the kids. My son started TGS when he was almost four months old, and even though I knew the school was wonderful, it was still scary to leave him for a full day. The teachers and directors are patient, kind, and caring - both with the students and the parents! They are always available for any questions and concerns throughout the day, and I definitely checked in a lot during those first few weeks of school. They are also available for advice - as a first-time parent, I had no idea when to transition my son to the next diaper size or how to introduce solid foods. The teachers helped us with everything, and have made parenting so much easier. TGS has an app that delivers updates throughout the day. I subscribe to all the updates, so I receive notifications when my son eats, has a diaper change, takes a nap, or does any of the fun activities that the teachers prepare for the kids. We also receive pictures during the day, and we love seeing our little guy having fun with his friends. Our two years at the school have been wonderful, and we plan to keep him at TGS until they kick us out :) Seeing our son make friends and learn so much every day has been more than worth the cost to attend, and we could not be happier with the school!
