Started in Spain in 2002, signs soon after were put up all over Rota where I live and I tuned in for a change from the talkative spanish stations I'd swap out daily.... the KISS sound was very good with - back then - seemingly hours of non-stop relaxing, mellow music without commercials. While that has changed, if you like american and spanish music and wan a good mix, this is your station! With different frequencies to tune in depending on your spanish province, you can hear the great music that KISSfm offers. While they list their music as being adult contemporary, I've heard rap (rarely), country, R&B, and folk played, but all good (except for that rare rap). They're starting to talk a bit more than previously, which I don't like... but still... the music is outstanding and the spanish mix is quite excellent. Granted, you may hear every song played in the first hour of the day a few more times later throughout the day but as I said: it's all great music. During the nights, I think it's a tape running as I hear few commercials and occasionally that dreaded DEAD AIR, though these days it's getting to be a rare event... thank goodness!! In the mornings now, they air traffic incidents in the principle major cities: Valencia, Barcelona and Madrid which is quite useful. I would say 90% of the music heard - and I've been listening to this music non-stop for over six years - is repeated each and every day, and just a few thrown in to show they DO occasionally air something new. If your primary language is english, this would be a great way to brush up on your spanish skills, though some of the DJs talk quite quick.... think machine-gun!!! hahahahaa in Rota the frequency to tune in is 95.4FM though there are separate freqs available for Sevilla and Jerez.

During the 7am hour there is also a family therapist that talks for like 3 minutes and she really shows attention to the person. The therapist does a good job of addressing family conflicts of all kinds because in Chinese families there are more argument than White families. While like me this station is broke it is a lot informative than the radio station I listen to. Back in the day they used to give away money but now no longer do that. They also show up at a few special events but no longer give away things that extend beyond a pen and magnet. I like their opening singer, they have changed then in the past few years. I love the oldies as opposed to the hip hop or Adult AC. Stations such as KOIT and KBAY play too much of the new music. What you need to do is emphasize the "Old KOIT" with 60s 70s 80s and early to mid 90s oldies from Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, Commodores, Mamas and the Papas, Cat Stevens, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, Vanessa Williams, Peter Cetera, Chicago, Eagles etc. If you remember the old KOIT then this is what you should emphasize Soft Rock and play none of the late 90s 2000s music. If you research KYMX 96.1 Sacramento back in 1996 it was the oldies Soft Rock and I mean artists like Fleetwood Mac, Vanessa Williams Ft. Brian McKnight Love Is, Michael Jackson, Peter Cetera I wanna Take Forever Tonight to the oldies such as Chicago Will You Still Love me, to the Full 6 minute Version of Total Eclipse of the Heart. I am reposting an Unrecommended review (not mine) below that hits the nail on the head. "KZSU is a great radio station that tends to get in the way of itself. I don't know if it is the management overthinking on the programing, the young fickleness of college minds, or if there are people there with inflated egos or what. KZSU has a great format at times, then at times, the format just gets plain old weird and full of noise. There is something for everyone at this station. I absolutely love the Zydeco Workout with Lola Love! It's a great show with Zydeco, Blues, and Southern Soul music, and that voice of hers keeps me tuning in. It drives me nuts that the station keeps changing the time slot. The Drum with Kevy Kev was a 20 plus year hip hop mainstay - GONE! (whose idea was that?!) Otherwise, Blues with A Feelin', The Zydeco Workout, MHZ with Raymundo, M-Smooth & the Urban InnerCity Experience & No Cover, No Minimum with FO (Jazz), and the different types of world music is enough to keep KZSU on my #3 button on my radio."

I say that with a bit of my tongue in my cheek because everyone knows that satellite communications are just a part of the overall package of a ship's communication system the high frequency or HF radio system is another part of that package and the globe wireless' radio station at this spot in California certainly fills another part of that need.
