Though I haven't heard from you, I hope that you have my husband's medical problems in your mind and just trying to find the time to call. My husband is in Country Hills Acute Care Facility, and I am told you see him at least once a week. If this is so, it is hard for me to understand why I haven't been contacted by your office. I know that you are busy, but I am contacting medicare, medi cal and the state board because 2 and a half months is a long time to go without knowing a patients condition. Since my husband and all the other patients you see pay for the privilege of being supposedly ministered by you, I find it hard to fathom your conplete disregard for your patients welfare. I caution anyone that maybe thinking of using you as their primary doctor, for God sake, think again!

I originally found San Diego Docs while trying to find a house call doc for my mom as she struggled…read moreto recover from a large stroke and subsequent hospital stay. The physicians she was stuck with and their offices either didn't bother to return calls or would wait until her condition deteriorated, then say she should go to the hospital (which is kinda the opposite of the point of home care). I decided that if I was already going to be working with San Diego Docs for my mom's care, I might as well add myself and give it a try.... It's amazing the feeling you get when you call their number and one of them answers. Or when you text and a human sends you a real response! You actually feel like a real individual patient again. Both Drs. Fam are knowledgeable and personable, it's refreshing to not have physicians act as though you are just another appointment to slog through and check off boxes. I had been in the habit of waiting and putting off seeing my previous GP before because of how dismissive they all were, so I am still getting used to the idea that if there's an issue with my meds feeling less effective or if I need a refill, I can text, email, or call and not only get a quick response but also not feel like I am an inconvenience. After seven years in San Diego, I finally found the "medical unicorn" of caring, competent, and personable family physicians. It's now been five months and I really cannot recommend San Diego Docs enough.

I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival that there was only one other person ahead of me. I was seen maybe 5 minutes after my appointment time and was in and out in less than 45 minutes. Parking was also easy with an hour validated parking in their garage. They also had a few patient dedicated spots. The nurse and PA that I saw were nice and listened to my symptoms and concerns. They were professional and provided good care. I would definitely return to this location if I needed same day care again.

As for the ophthalmologist I saw, he was not friendly and dismissed my concerns. He almost laughed them off to be honest. I haven't felt that disrespected in a while. Wouldn't recommend.

First visit today snd first impressions were great! First impressions of the office - clean, well run and most importantly easy to park along with great service! As it was my "welcome visit", met with the nurse practitioner/PA. At first I was a little worried as she mentioned our time was short but she did take the time to go over everything with me. (Probably didn't help that I initially said I was expecting Dr. Laura!). At the end Dr Laura came by for a quick hello. The visit went like clockwork! He gets refills done quick when I need them and most of the time I don't have to go into the office to pick up my scrips. One of the few doctors that saves paper and is helpful at finding the most cost effective ways of getting me my medication. Whenever I see him he makes certain that we touched all bases and nothing else can be done with the current visit. After seeing him for nearly 6 or 7 years, I had a life changing event and he takes even more time just to listen and make sure that he is providing the best care possible and by spending the extra minute, he once again will make sure that there isn't anything more he can do to make my life better. Although he does take insurance, he doesn't rush like most doctors to the 6 patients an hour that is required for most doctors accepting insurance. If something requires more time and attention, he will make time to help. He makes me feel comfortable about talking about even the most embarrassing issues and dealing with the situation in the most dignified manner. Finally, when he doesn't know exactly the right treatment he will refer to someone that is more knowledgeable in the field that the ailment requires. We see things the same way about drugs, meaning less is more. He doesn't have that mentality that "there isn't anything my prescription pad cannot cure". It's more of a less drugs is healthier in the long run. Plus, his signage inside every room is great. Check the pictures! So those people "shopping" for doctors this isn't your guy for getting your fix he's a doctor, not a drug pusher/dealer. All in all, I'd recommend Dr. Shamblaw as a solid base for health care for anybody. Solid GP/Family MD. Side note: sorry it took 6+ years to write my review.
