I've been going to Hyland Dental Care and seeing Dr. Hornyak for about 4 years now…read more Prior to going here I tried DeVor DDS and Cochran DDS in Lakewood and had issues with both offices/doctors. What originally brought me to Hyland was a second opinion/consultation on a wisdom tooth that had developed a bad cavity in it and needed to be pulled. The thing was: my wisdom teeth came in straight, had room and were functional. The only reason the one needed to be pulled was because of an unreachable cavity. The original prognosis from Cochran DDS was that I'd need oral surgery to have the tooth removed. But when visiting Hyland Dental Care they offered to have to extracted that day and the procedure went with zero issues. A few years later I had them remove the other top wisdom tooth with no problems. From a cost perspective Hyland is the most cost effective dental provider I've had. The other thing is the service is much better than I had at other dentist offices, the staff are always friendly and nice to talk to. Also they are always concerned about how you are feeling during an operation. Also I've had Hyland Dental do a root canal and two fillings for me. The root canal was originally a pulp capping that I had done there previously but the nerve died on its own a few years later. They were able to just drill through the existing crown , do the root canal and fill the crown. This saved me close to 400$ on my procedure because a new crown wasn't needed. Out of all of the procedures I've had done here, I've never once had a bad experience, felt any pain or had an appointment canceled on me (I've seen this mentioned by others in comments, just thought I'd mention). As long as this office is around I'll always come here for my dental needs.

I found this dentist after researching places that are in my insurance network. I have gone in for…read moretwo appointments this year so I thought it was time for a review. I will say that I am cautiously positive given that I didn't read yelp reviews before going in. I have only had two cleanings fully covered by my insurance so that's what I will speak to. The practice is in an old house and the "rooms" are just kind of cubicles. It's fine but there's really no privacy and the employees seem to enjoy being able to talk to each other while in separate rooms... The quality of care has been good and professional. Although, I made an appointment with a specific dentist and have never seen her. I was handed off to a different person on the first appointment because she didn't already know me or seem interested in having me as a patient, so ok.... I have only seen one dentist for about 10 minutes in the first visit and not at all on the second. But, as I said... it's all been fine. Everyone is personable and professional enough plus my teeth cleanings have gone well. There is a small parking lot for 5-6 cars and street parking. The office is clean and inviting.

These are students at the profound university of Case western dental school who see patients. They are under supervision of a preceptor (experienced and licensed dentist). The students do everything. The services are discounted for this reason. I was referred here by Circle Health Services in Cleveland because I need a new crown because mine broke. I lost my insurance for the rest of the year so I needed a place that offers discounted services. This location is a couple miles away from the Case Western university campus. It's directly across from Cleveland Clinic on Chester Avenue. Very easy to find. There is street parking if available or there is a self pay lot behind the building. You print a ticket. After your dental appointment, you go to the cashier to get a stamp which gives you a discounted price. It could be upwards of 30-35$ but I paid 8$ for about 3 hours of parking. The building is beautiful. The main lobby has big windows that bring in natural sunlight and there is plentiful seating. But man this place gets busy. Very busy! It reminds me of a small hospital. Tons of students/doctors walking around and lots of patients waiting to be seen. Upon walking in, there were 4 windows to check in but only 1 in use because the other representatives got up and never came back. It was confusing because I didn't know which window to wait in line for. There were people who got there after me but were waiting in line in front of me because I was trying to decide which window I was supposed to go to. After checking in I waited in the seating area. I was called up about 25-30 minutes past my appointment time. There was an elevator down so the line of people to get in the other was long. I was greet by Nick Abinanti. He would be my dental student taking care of me for the day. I can't say enough great things about him. He was extremely pleasant and professional. He even engaged in casual conversation that put me at ease. He explained everything we had to do for the appointment before he did it. This was just a consultation appointment so I gave my medical/dental background that he entered into the computer. I was given an exam, X-ray of my one tooth (6$ paid at cashier) and a full mouth impression that would help gauge what services could be provided for me. They will send it to the lab and he would present it to the prosthetics team there and they will decide what can be done. My situation turned out to be a little more complicated because of my dental issues and tooth shifting. At one point I got a little teary eyed (ok ok a lot) and was reassured by Nick. It was all a little overwhelming to take in and had been a long day for me. Nick was amazing and glad to have him on my side. The equipment is top of the line from the chairs to the dental equipment. The students have to go to a central location and request all supplies needed to be used. So be patient. Not all supplies are readily available. There are tons of patient chairs. Each student is broken off into groups. Each group of students are in different sectioned off rooms with 10+ chairs, depending on the speciality or services provided. There is facial surgery, cosmetic, pediatric, and general dentistry services provided. The place is fascinating. I was very pleased with my visit. It was very thorough. I left about 2 hours after being brought up for the appointment. Schedule accordingly. Allow enough time space depending on your services needed. If your in a hurry, this isn't the place for you. I highly recommend this place to anyone with or without insurance. Personable and professional care.

I had gum grafting that didnt take and caused things to be worse instead of better. Student dr put…read morethe graft too high and the teacher told him and it didn't take. I want a refund that's been hard to get saying only half possibly. I originally went there for a deep cleaning on one tooth and that went well. I was told I needed gum grafting on several teeth and I wouldn't suggest spending that kind of money on something that may not take or cause your gums to be worse in my case. I'm very disappointed and don't plan to use this place for dental care again. Also they went on a long summer break for a month after my sugar and I couldn't get ahold of someone in case of an emergency either.
