This review has sat in my drafts for almost a year. I wasn't sure if I'd ever share on Yelp but decided to in hopes it may help someone. My husband and I were looking forward to starting a family and after trying on our own with no results we were referred by my gynecologist to Audubon Fertility. Audubon Fertility is dedicated to helping individuals\couples achieve their dream of starting a family. Not to get too personal (or long winded) but after a year and a half of fertility treatments and procedures we successfully conceived via IVF and are now parents to a beautiful and strong baby girl. At Audubon Fertility, they understand that each patient's journey is unique, and provided us with personalized care and support from the first consultation appointment til graduation day (at 10 weeks gestational age)! Drs. Wells and Ulrich are very knowledgeable and skilled at their craft. My interactions with the front desk, nurses, NPs, phlebotomist (Ms. G!!!), and the insurance/billing team were positive and helpful during the entire process. Transparency, transparency, transparency, was very important during this process and all of our documents, labs, medications list, visit notes, etc. were easily accessed via the web based patient portal. The clinic offers a comprehensive range of fertility services, including fertility testing, in vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI), egg freezing, and preimplantation genetic testing. They also provide fertility preservation options for individuals who wish to delay parenthood due to medical or personal reasons. Unfortunately, our experience with Audubon Fertility started well but quickly began to unravel. After our egg donor had her AMH and AFC tests, I repeatedly asked the clinic for the results. The clinic told me over the phone, "the results are fine," but would not provide specifics. As paying clients, we were entitled to see these results, and it was frustrating that they withheld them for so long. When we finally received the test results, it was too late to make any changes to our plans. Upon consulting other clinics, we learned that our egg donor likely didn't have enough time between stopping birth control and undergoing the egg retrieval. Audubon's lack of transparency limited our ability to make an informed decision. Things continued to go wrong. When it came time for genetic testing, the clinic made a significant mistake. They filled out the paperwork as though our egg donor was anonymous, which meant we couldn't obtain the combined genetic report from MYRIAD. While this mistake might seem small, it was just one of several errors made by Audubon throughout the process. The next issue arose when it was time for sperm collection. Months before our appointment, I asked what we needed to do to prepare. I was told, "nothing, you're fine." However, we later discovered we should have been taking vitamins to improve sperm quality, which Audubon never mentioned. While I could have researched this myself, I trusted the clinic's guidance, which turned out to be a mistake. When we arrived for the physical examination, we were told we had to undress and undergo a full check, including a visual inspection of our genitals and feet. When I questioned this, the nurse explained it was an FDA requirement. I reached out to several friends who had been through surrogacy, both gay and straight, and none of them had been required to do this. I can't help but feel this extra step was due to the fact that we are a gay couple. The final straw was the egg retrieval process. Audubon scheduled the retrieval for a Monday, but we later learned that egg retrievals should be timed based on AMH levels, usually 34 to 36 hours after the trigger shot. When I asked the clinic how they managed to schedule the retrieval without monitoring AMH levels properly, the patient liaison said, "We schedule retrieval early in the 36-hour window." This led to a high number of immature eggs being retrieved. After consulting two other clinics with exact dates and times, both agreed that the eggs had been retrieved too early. Overall, I feel that Audubon Fertility did not prioritize us as clients, and we ended up wasting both our time and money. We didn't get many mature eggs, and unfortunately, our egg donor didn't either. If you are part of the LGBT community and considering surrogacy, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. I genuinely believe that other clinics will provide better care, transparency, and respect for your time and resources. read more

This place is unethical, avoid them. We were returning patients under fertility preservation due to cancer diagnosis at 22 which is usually covered by insurance or at least discounted. We asked about this at multiple points and no one gave us a straight forward answer. Conveniently, once the cancellation period had expired, Esperanza decided to call us back. She contradicted herself a few times because "we are the first patients she's had who are returning due to cancer diagnosis." When we stated we would like to reschedule to speak with oncology first about getting a referral to increase the likelihood it will be covered by insurance, they are trying to keep our deposit and convincing us insurance will most likely not cover it (even though there are laws stating they have to.) She apologized that their billing office is "so busy and couldn't get back to us." Pretty much they are trying to keep a cancer patients deposit because they dropped the ball. No one wants to be told that they have fertility issues. However, I'm grateful to have been able to be seen by Dr. Wells, Dr Urlich and their staff team. They are ALL so sweet and never once made me feel unwelcome or inadequate. They explained things in detail and always made sure my husband and I were comfortable. The fertility process for us was daunting as a same-sex couple but Audubon Fertility made us feel safe and cared for throughout our entire time with them. The staff is incredibly friendly and thoughtful, after a few visits they knew who we were and took extra care to help us feel comfortable. WE CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT JAIME. We saw her for all but two of our visits and she was just as invested in our success as we were. The team was always honest about pricing and worked with us to ensure we knew all of our options. Whether you are struggling to conceive and just needing a little help along the path, Audubon is definitely for you. P.S. If you're debating taking the scary next step of seeking fertility help, DO IT WITH AUDUBON FERTILITY! You will not regret it. I remember walking into the office so afraid and so let down with my own body for even needing to be there in the first place. From our first appointment, to our last the entire audubon staff made us feel like family. It's like having the biggest support system in your corner you didn't know you needed. Every step of the way through the IVF process they're there to cheer you on for the wins and hug you for the losses. At 10 weeks pregnant when we graduated Audubon Fertility I did not want to leave! I wish Dr. Wells and Dr. Ulrich could be the ones to deliver my baby! We wouldn't be patiently awaiting the arrival of our sweet girl if it wasn't for the entire staff at Audubon. I would ABSOLUTELY give 0 stars if possible. This place is a MONEY PIT!!!! They tell you the cost of IVF if near $40,000. Well my friends, thank God I got a second opinion from another office with an EXTREMELY reputable doctor who told us that this price is completely bizarre as it costs at most $25,000 for IVF. On top of these people ripping off people that are already in a vulnerable position, I went through 5 months of treatment without Dr. Wells ever seeing me. I was paying an incredible amount of money to ONLY be seen by the nurse practitioner. Even with multiple failed procedures, I was still unable to see or even speak to the doctor. On top of this, although I complained of pain and other issues after my d and c surgery for a miscarriage, Dr. Wells wouldn't see me. It took me going to a series of other doctors over the course of 3 months for someone to FINALLY catch an infection that could have ONLY been caused by "foreign objects, such as those from a surgery". Do NOT waste your precious time or money at this place. All it does is leave you in mental, physical, and financial hell. read more

I am a physician myself and I am totally appalled by the experience we had. We only saw the doctor for our first visit then proceeded to do 5 IUI without ever seeing the doctor again. There was never a regrouping after the procedures to discuss a game plan. After 4 failed attempts my wife begged me to take off the day she went back to find out if we were pregnant with our fifth attempt. We got the phone call from one of the nurses, and she said "I'm sorry the [pregnancy] test was negative. Let us know when you want to come in for the next round." There is no compassion at all and a total feeling of a production line. Today, two and a half months after our last attempt, my wife randomly logged into her patient portal to find a balance due of over $400.00. After reviewing our credit card statements, she found that all of those bills had been paid. One of the bills was from 11 months ago - that one time we saw the doctor. We have sought treatment elsewhere. Their pre-visit paperwork is more thorough than any test this clinic ever preformed. read more

So I was hoping to be able to write this review after getting a BPF... but anywho. Here we go. So my experience with doctor wells was mostly positive. The staff is friendly. I've never waited long even when I had to go in without a appointment. One star was lost because I felt like Dr. Wells wasn't open to our plan of using a known donor. I understand it's more difficult but that was our preference. Another star(which probably should be a separate review in itself with one star) was lost due to Vivere center next door. They were extremely unprofessional. I sat in the waiting room for over 30 minutes for my hysterosalpingogram (HSG). When someone finally came to tell me they were running behind schedule she then she said I would not being going in a OR. I was not okay with that seeing as I had just paid them $500. They set me up in a corner behind a curtain to do my procedure. The procedure with Doctor Wells student, (I wish I could remember her name she was so great!) went very well. read more

This place is a TOTAL NIGHTMARE. NEVER go here. They are completely unable to return a phone call or report results within time promised. Every time we were told we would hear from them, we didn't, then had to absolutely stalk them down, only to receive a canned apology for their lack of follow through. Totally unprofessional all around. Incredibly disappointed in their service around this sensitive issue, particularly when we paid full price, out of pocket. Literally crying as I write this review. Unfortuately I completely agree with C.H. The staff is horrific with the exception of Kim. What makes it worse is that it seems like they are in charge and making the decisions, not Dr. Wells. I was never able to get a question to Dr. Wells, much less speak to her when I called. They highest up you will get is Debbie (IVF coordinator), who was not genuine and was very scattered, which was very unsettling. I would receive the wrong med dosage and then get corrected etc A few small annoying things: the bills you will get from Labcorp that should be part of your cycle and will have to call 20 times to get it resolved; the bills you receive for the 1st time from Dr. Wells 10 months after your date of service; the phlebotomist who often cannot find a vein (never had the is experience at other clinics); the long waits to get results (like am I miscarrying--oh sorry we were busy today and didn't get to call you until after 5 to tell you yes you are); the fact that Dr. Wells sometimes leaves in a middle of an uncomfortable conversation and just doesn't come back. The big things: I received 1 ultrasound during my entire IVF cycle once stims were started (my other clinic I received between 4 and 6 during a cycle); I had 75% less embryos with Audubon than when cycling at my next clinic (Dr. Wells told me she couldn't do anything different and I would continue having similar results--oh and 100% of my embryos made it to day 5 and freeze at my other clinic while only 40 percent made it to day 3 with Dr. Wells). I can't be sure what made the results different, but I'm sure it likely had something to do with the protocol or the lack of monitoring or the lack of caring or my high stress levels or a combination! I really do not like to write negative reviews, but I felt I had to because I know how emotionally and financially consuming the IVF process is and I really don't want anyone else to have that made worse by going to Audubon. I would recommend to anyone doing IVF to check the SART numbers and any reviews of patients they can find. Also, do not be afraid of traveling especially if you can drive there. I went to Houston for my last cycle and was monitored at FINO--in total it cost me about 700 more with travel than it would have in New Orleans--so not much more in the big scheme of things. I only had to go to Houston twice and my clinic's ability to me feel like we were in this together was not lost event though we were in different cities. Your RE and the clinic should instill confidence and compassion--you deserve the best--and Audubon unfortunately is far from it. As a side note--the staf at Viviere, which is affiliated with Audubon--was amazing, particularly Kate. The staff at Audubon should spend more time next door and take some tips! read more

I love this place. I work for a doctors office and just would like people to understand that you are not the only patient we deal with on a daily basis. Yes I do believe all calls should be returned on the same day but you should also follow through. Some times things are forgotten and frankly we are only human. This clinic was so wonderful to my husband and I as we went through our fertility treatment journey. I previously worked in a specialty doctor's office and I know from experience it is challenging to handle such sensitive issues on a daily basis. We are so thankful for each employee being personable and handling everything in such a professional and caring way. Dr. Clisham, his nurse Kim, and Esparanza are all so kind and I felt they truly cared about us. I have recommended the clinic to several friends who have also had wonderful experiences. I was reading the reviews today and could not believe my eyes and firmly believe that these are bogus reviewers. We had our son in December of 2014, thanks to Dr. Clisham and the staff at Audubon. As someone who is VERY familiar with both clinics in town I would like to set the record straight with my experience at Audubon and the communication chains. First off I love Dr. Clisham and staff at Audubon Fertility! They are amazing! This office is small and personal, it isn't set up like a cattle drive much like the other clinic in town. The staff and doctors really take the time to get to know you and work toward a personal solution to infertility. It is more quality over quantity. With that said, you will not get more tests than you need. Mostly because they do not charge a bulk price for fertility (the bulk price per month at FINO is 4 to 5 times more expensive than Audubon). Audubon only charges for individual tests per visit (ultrasounds included) on a as needed basis. The doctors are so hands on that they do all of their own ultrasounds and you will see them every visit throughout your fertility journey. You are not passed off to random rotating nurses like the "other clinic." The same nurses have been there from the get go, so you will not see new staff each time you come in. As for the "phone calls not being returned" per the other reviewers. This is a load of garbage, during your first visit the doctors give you their email portal addresses, cell numbers and pager numbers to call if you need to get in touch with someone. I called, emailed and paged Dr. Clisham back and forth many times during cycles if I had issues, questions or concerns. Not once did I ever not receive a response within 24 hours (including weekends). He also called me after hours at home on various occasions to check on my wellbeing. I have never had a doctor be so attentive to me as his patient. It was very comforting to my husband and I knowing we had a doctor who genuinely gave a damn about us getting pregnant. During our fertility process, I learned that FINO was causing me to get OHSS. They were giving me too many drugs and being too hap-hazard with my fertility. They would basically over dose on fertility drugs and cause about 15-20 eggs to drop early and then do an IUI off cycle. This scared me! This is how people have 10 kids! When we went to Dr. Clisham he told us up front that he is conservative and believes in quality over quantity. During my IVF cycle he only took the good quality eggs and didn't take eggs that weren't mature for fear of additional trauma to my ovary (again quality over quantity). With that said, they took 10 eggs, 7 were fully mature, 6 of the 7 fertilized and made it to day 5. However we made the decision to let go of the 2 that were struggling and only keep the best ones. We put two in and both took, but only one got a heartbeat. Which is now a healthy 11 month old boy! The other two went into storage. To address the claim that FINO has a better SART ratings, this is not true AT ALL! The clinic didn't even get to publish it's success ratings until 2015 because they have to have 2 years of procedures to be included in the system. The success ratings for 2013 and 2014 nearly double that of FINO. Audubon has a MUCH higher success rate than FINO, because it is personalized and not a cattle drive. As the other reviewer wrote, she had twice as many eggs pulled from FINO with higher rating than that of Audubon. That might be because at Audubon they only take the best embryos for implantation. They are not going to put in sub-par embryos with little chance at success. Again, we have never had anyone be anything other than completely honest with us regarding our success and expectations of the procedures we were attempting. Bottom line: this is the best clinic around! If you want a personalized experience this is your clinic! I have sent 3 friends here and all 3 have become pregnant within a year of treatments. They will tell you the same thing, they love this place and switching clinics was the best thing we ever did! read more

This is the best fertility clinic in town and Dr. Wells is a gift from God! I was told by another clinic in town that I would NEVER have my own children and that donor eggs were my only option. After two failed IVF's with them, we left. Dr. Wells was a breath of fresh air, so positive, believed in me and my husband and gave us hope. She herself has struggled with fertility issues and she understands this journey, beyond the medical part. I am happy to say that I have two beautiful boys, 3.5 and 15 months and it is because of this amazing clinic, wonderful and kind nurses, and the best Dr. anyone could ever ask for. I have tears in my eyes as I write this. I refer anyone and everyone to her. I truly have a family bc of her and her belief in us. You will not be disappointed and from my experience at the other clinic in town I can tell you there is NO comparison. read more

Originally went here for a basic test which turned into several. The nurses at this clinic are all very nice and helpful, my first impression of Clisham was that he is a rude and smug doctor - still holds true today. The staff answers the phone intermittently and are not that great at returning phone calls. Expect Clisham to call you at 7 or 8p to give you test results. We were at one point blamed for not paying a bill and it was entirely the lab's fault for not sending us the bill. Glad we will be going elsewhere for treatment because I do not want that guy anywhere near my uterus. read more

I give them no stars for the quality of service. I had a failed first month treatment and asked for options of improving the rate of success. The answer was to simply do the same thing again. Of course, failed second treatment. I decided to get a second opinion from the Fertility Institute of New Orleans and I was not surprised to see how much more complex and thorough their treatment plan is. I feel like I have completed wasted my time and money by going to the Audubon Fertility and Reproductive Medicine. I think their business model is not to help with reproductive issues, but to skim their patients of money by repeating inadequate procedures. I hope the word gets out and people are not taken advantage of, like I feel I was. read more
