Date of visit: May 24, 2025…read more We needed some supplies for our time here in Milan and I wanted something more than just a convenience store or mini market and the prices that go with those places that tend to be the opposite of the size of the establishment! This Esselunga is located within a mall, which I have to say is a new one for me, but the location was good for us to walk to and from our apartment and they had a nice variety of items available for purchase. Staff was nonexistent but we were able to find most of what we wanted without any assistance.

Their store brand is good quality for a low price. I'm a big fan of everything from their pesto to their Nutella. The frozen pomodoro - formaggio crêpes are a guilty pleasure of mine. If you're an English speaker, stick to google translate rather than asking people for help - it'll probably yield better results. I always had great help when I asked where something was in Italian. The only time I was ever frustrated was in trying to figure out the self checkout.

And to my surprise, the "Espresso Bar" is very smooth and only requiring one teaspoon of raw sugar making it a perfect cup. I know... I know... why are you going nuts over Italian grocery store coffee? Well, i'm a coffee fanatic and its always a joy to taste other roasts from around the world. Unfortunately, I can't find Esselunga in the U.S. So i'll be sipping and Yelping for the next couple of weeks. I'm saving the last star for my trip to Italy (now that I have family there)!!!

Date of visit: May 27, 2025…read more I wanted to bring back some pasta for my employees and rather than hitting up a tourist spot featuring overpriced pasta shaped like gondolas, I found a grocery store where locals were more likely to buy their pasta. There was a decent selection of pasta at a very good price, with several brands outside of the store brand available for purchase. The store was clean and in good condition; really the only things that I didn't like was the unfriendliness of the person staffing the self-checkouts (no greeting or acknowledgement at all) and that despite the checkout having an English option, the receipt still printed in Italian. Seems like an easy fix!

None of the staff was very welcoming or willingly looking to provide customer service. They do have a good selection of local products available. One weird thing for me being American was. They kept their eggs on shelves instead of the cooler section. I will say one thing that made this place a "Do not return" spot for me was the there was several rotten fruits and vegetables left mixed in with the others. You can tell they had been there for days and no one checks. They charge for bags here so keep that in mind and plan accordingly. I will say I like the hrs of operation.

Unlike in the US, they make you walk to this tiny entrance to access the store. You can't cut through cashiers at checkout or jump to the freezer aisle without walking through produce, lol!
