I went into Aspen Dental on 08/18/26. I was evaluated by Dr. Tristan Thompson. Although I was a…read morereturning client they still insisted that I have new x-rays. Therefore new x-rays were done. I saw a dental assistant, then Dr. Thompson, followed by their dental hygienist. During this "evaluation" several scans of my mouth were done as well as probing of my gums to determine if I had periodontal disease. It is important to note that in September of 2024 I had this same process done. Both times (in 2024 and in present day) I was advised that I have periodontal disease. In 2024 my recommended treatment plan included a deep cleaning along with a series of these cleanings. I was charged along with my insurance $3,463. I was provided a $166 off coupon, aa $1,079.12 "insurance discount", my insurance payout was $900.33, leaving me a balance out of pocket of $1,317.55 as to which I financed through Fortiva with 35.99% APR! Here's where story get's interesting. After I agreed to the treatment plan in 2024 I had the 1st cleaning done. I was supposed to come back for two more (I paid for those), however I never did. I had braces put on and honestly got busy with life and forgot. In August 2026, I scheduled a cleaning with Aspen, in preparation for this, I went to my orthodontist and had my wires removed from my braces so that they would be able to adequately clean. During this visit I was told I needed the "deep cleaning" again and that my periodontal disease had gotten worse because I did not follow their treatment plan (which I paid for in full remember this). As I am sitting in the back waiting area to see the "office manager" it dawned on me this whole experience is exactly what I went through in 2024! I was finally called to the "office manager" who had a nice iPad with a presentation ready for me. This is where the ride gets better. She advised I had 3 "levels" of care and that I could opted for whichever one I "could afford". I brought up the fact that I had this same treatment a few years back and that I paid for a series of 3 cleanings and I only had 1. She advised me that my insurance "ate up" the remaining balance because it did not pay like they thought it would! So you're telling me I basically paid $3,000 for 1 cleaning?! I was furious and left the office. I reluctantly went back to my orthodontist to have my wires placed back on. After that whole fiasco I started looking for another dentist. I still needed a regular cleaning. I went to Tatum & Cox Comprehensive General Dentistry in Opelika, AL a few weeks later. I saw Dr. Cox (which is amazing). They had to do new x-rays as to which I had to pay out of pocket because Aspen Dental had just did them a few weeks prior. This is the best part of the story, because guess what no periodontal disease! Not even the beginning stage. The only area of concern was my bottom wisdom teeth (had the uppers removed several years ago). Their dental hygienist just said I need to take extra care of them in the back with better flossing but that's it! No periodontal disease at all. So basically Aspen Dental scammed me out of thousands of dollars in 2024 and tired again in 2026. Not to mention insurance fraud because they are misdiagnosing people and billing their insurance companies! This needs looked into!

This place scams you out of money. They tell you it will be one price, and then they hit you with…read morea bill for more money. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
