Their communication was great when trying to reach out to me to get me to agree to their estimate, but that all changed as soon as I did. I accepted their estimate, which specified all the work that was to be done (based on the pictures and description over a phone conversation), the price of the work, and the day that it would be done (an upcoming Wednesday). I'm spending time with my family from out of town on the preceding Saturday, when one of the guys shows up at my door, saying he's ready to do the work that day instead (no call or text notice even asking). But, I want to be flexible, so I show him around and describe the job again while he's there in person. Then, he says he will have to "get more tools" and come back later in the week (which I was ok with, because I wanted them to come on Wednesday, like the contract said). I don't get a call or text from them on Wednesday, so I reach out to the owner, who says they'll be by that night or the next day. The end of the next day (Thursday), I still haven't heard anything, so I call the owner and am told the same thing. I said I wanted better communication regarding when they might come. Friday afternoon, I texted the owner after not hearing anything, and I asked if I just needed to find another company. He said that would be great, since they felt that they had undervalued the price of the work. So now it's clear. They didn't like the price they agreed to, and they were just planning on ghosting me, even though we had already agreed a binding contract, signed online. What's sad is, if they had just asked for more money after doing the work and explaining that it was a lot more than they thought when they initially offered, I would have paid extra.
