    Great winery luch there last Saturday (Huntingdon Estate). Food and wine both immaculate. Worth every cent.

    Probably the only serious mod resto in Cbr. Innovative and tasty. Four courses $90 in Nov 2015.

    The ambiance is very very French at this little bistro sitting on its own in the refurbished suburb…read moreof Braddon. But locals know it well, so evenings and Saturdays can be quite busy. We had the place to ourselves for midweek lunch, yet never felt abandoned or an inconvenience. Quite the opposite. We indulged in a couple of signature cocktails (I recommend the L'Automne), and pork rillette and escargot starters. Zut alors, they were good! Main course was a shared Beef Wellington; perfectly done and surrounded with mushroom pieces and foie gras to separate the pastry and meat. With a recommended French Cabernet Franc to mix it up, we left sated and fulfilled in our goal to have an authentic experience in Canberra.

The menu isn't very big, though they all read beautifully. The desserts were written on the board and appears to change frequently. Of note is that they are a number of items with extensive wait times, including an apple tartin for dessert, up to 40 mins worth of waiting - but it's written in the menu so you are aware of the wait time when you're deciding - really appreciated that. Started off with the Beetroot cured kingfish. It came in a dish, presented too beautiful to be eaten really! There was a bit of a difficultly differentiating the kingfish from the beetroot salad - but every morsel was beautiful and the kingfish slid beautifully in your mouth. Next was the ash crusted duck a l'orange style, meant for 2 pax. This was an interesting one. While we were waiting for it to come, the waiter brought the cooking duck to show us how it was cooked - in a block of still burning/smoking ash. It smelt so gorgeous and I really like that block of ash! We were salivating but it was still a few more minutes to go before it came back to the table, all shiny and gorgeous waiting to jump into my mouth. The duck was so beautiful it might be hard to do it justice. It was falling off the bone and melt in your mouth kind of juicy. The smokey taste to it was balanced by the sweetness of one of the oranges and the tartness of another (two types of planes were used). None of the tastes were overwhelming so you can still taste the subdued duck beneath it all. Absolutely gorgeous. The creme brûlée came last, with a fire going over it till the sugar caramelised. It was such a cool thing to watch the fire burn yet the custard remained cool and not marred. Service provided was great. They were attentive to us from the start, explaining what each item was and how it was cooked. If we had further questions, they would come throwing information at us, no worries. Particularly, I like how they showed me the duck in the block of ash. I was so excited I forgot to take a picture of it. Value for money - for the 2 of us, we spent about 110 dollars. It's definitely a little pricier than what I usually pay for dinner, but in this scenario it's worth every penny and then some. The quality of the food, the thought put behind the balance of the senses deserve to be appreciated, but I am glad it is at that price so it's still within the reach of people who appreciate good food.
