Our stay: I just got back from a weekend spa getaway with my boyfriend, at Auberge Beaux Reves. We bought a package that included a night stay, two treatments each, dinner and breakfast, plus access to the nordic baths and saunas. The hotel room included a bath tub with jets and a fire place that warmed the room - it was very clean, and quaint. For our treatments, I opted for a facial and a massage, my boyfriend opted for a mud body wrap and a massage. We had the massage in our room. We opted for La Chitarra restaurant as our dinner option on the Saturday.
Treatments: I've been to nordic baths before and have received many massages - I always have problems with my back and so I try to frequently go to salon. This massage was hands down one of the best I've had - we both paid an extra 10$ for a "therapeutic" (deep tissue) massage, and it was well worth it. Both our therapists were very friendly, and really worked hard to relax us but also work out the tough parts in our backs. My facial was nice, gentle, but nothing super special. My boyfriend loved the body wrap treatment.
Spa: The main bath is super nice, made with a bunch of little seats where couples can relax with semi-privacy. There weren't that many people there on the weekend that we went so we had most of the facilities to ourselves. The saunas (two dry and one steam) were nice, the steam sauna sometimes was a bit too hot but I think that's just a preference thing.
Food: We didn't eat the breakfast in the morning (ends at 10am, we wanted to stay in our warm room - which was in a different building), and didn't eat at the restaurant in the spa, so I can't tell you how the food was. Though on the Saturday, in between breakfast and our dinner, we were able to have a snack (chips and salsa) which one of that staffers prepared for us even though the kitchen was closed. We ate dinner at La Chitarra and were pleasantly surprised. It was a 5min drive, there was reasonable amounts of parking when we got there. We got a little nook in the restaurant all to ourselves, our waitress was very attentive. I ate the veal and my partner ate the filet mignon skewer as our main - it was all very tasty. A decent french/italian style restaurant - not quite my nonna's cooking but not bad either.
Bookings: It didn't take us long to book. We emailed them, they called back quickly. We were able to call them later in the month to book the treatments. They asked us to pay when we got there, but told us that we would be charged after we left. We were called after we left so that they could confirm additional charges. Everything was very proper and professional.
Minor complaints: The reception is very busy, often on the phone while you wait to get something. Because it was quiet, the saunas weren't always on and we would have to wait for them to warm up. No conditioner in the bathrooms (in hotel room or in the spa bathrooms) so my hair got very dry after being in all that water. And yes, the auberge is very close to the highway, so you do hear some traffic in the main bath, but it really wasn't that bothersome.
Overall: Very happy with my experience! I feel relaxed and I had such a romantic weekend with my boyfriend. I would definitely recommend this place again. read more
