Worst experience ever!!! We had an appointment made with Dr Russo because we have requested him…read morespecifically & when we arrived were forced to see a woman so called "doctor" her name is Tania Kauter & she does NOT have the qualifications to perform surgery for wisdom teeth extractions which is what i needed!! She ONLY has a bachelor of medical sciences which is just an under graduate degree! Not even masters! We understand that she needs a warm body to practice on but we are not animals and we have the right to choose the doctor we are comfortable with! Then during the consult she totally disrespected my wife! We told her i prefer to have local anesthetic but she kept pushing over & over again to sell us the IV sedation!! Again very rude & unprofessional!!! After we listened to her loooong explanation on the IV , my wife simply said "thank you but we prefer local anesthetic" the undergraduate so rudely did not even look at my wife at all and she replied "is up to him to decide" then my wife said "we make our decisions together" to which she replied again without looking at my wife at all "i want to hear it from him" we were shocked! So rude & disrespectful! The other review from the gentleman who also gave one star is totally right!!! They push to over sedate the patients to cover up for bad jobs!! We are not animals!!! My wife worked as a dental nurse for many years in a surgery that always performed wisdom teeth extractions (surgically) and 99% of the time was under local anesthetic!! This IV shoud not be forced on EVERYONE!!! We were told "with local anesthetic it will be very uncomfortable" WRONG !!! That only applies to patients who hate going to the dentist in general! I dont have that issue! I never have ! This is how you know if youre talking with capable dentist !! A great skilled doctor can EASILY perform a surgical extraction under local anesthetic with a breeze!! Next, she added " under IV sedation it will make me and my nurse more comfortable and relaxed" :) WELL NOW!! Right there is the truth!!! Thats the main reason people!! They need you knocked out so they can practice on a dummy!!! Its all about them and how quickly they can get rid of you and see the next patient! A doctor and a nurse has to always watch the face and body language of the patient during procedure and here and there comfort them with "youre doing fine, were almost done" etc ... Not knock them all out like we are pets !!! Also, my wife having had an extensive background in dental nursing she IMEDIATELY noticed so many health and hygiene violations by the nurses!! A lot of cross contamination people!! Pretty disgusting!! The gloves they are wearing should ONLY touch the instruments and the light above and NOTHING ELSE!!! Anything else they need to touch, gloves MUST come off and then if you need to return to the patient, new gloves should be used. Well , it was not the case!! With her gloves on, she went to the computer, used the mouse and keyboard, opened some drawers and then back touching the instruments that went into my mouth!! The only things that get wiped down in a surgery between patients are the light handles, the chair, the tool racks on both sides and the little sink. Everything else in the room does NOT and are highly contaminated (when water, spray syringe and/or handpiece are used, small particles of blood, saliva and mucous are air born literally meters away including on the walls and everything else in the room (its called aerosol contamination) which is why the dental staff should never touch mouse, keyboards or anything else with the same gloves that are used on the patient! Pretty disgusting and the staff at gentle dental care were violating all of this basic procedures. Imagine what else goes on at the back where instruments need to be cleaned! Its very deceiving when you look around & the place seems new, up to date, makes you tnink they have top qulified staff but unfortunately very few people realize if the nurses are doing the right thing unless you have a "behind the scenes" experience.
