I got a dozen mailers from different law firms a few days after my ticket and called every single one of them. All of them said the exact same thing and all promised the exact same resolution. One attorney recommended talking with Mr. Crowe and personally vouched for him, saying he was the "absolute best attorney in the area and had been practicing law in the community longer than most". I called Mr. Crowe and I noticed he asked a different set of questions and the conversation went very differently than the conversations I had with all the other lawyers. The other lawyers seemed more interested in getting hired whereas Mr. Crowe seemed more interested in seeing how he could help me. My family worked with Tommy Kellis for charges against my son. Mr. Kellis was rude and didn't…read morelisten to what we said. One way this was exhibited was by him asking questions we had answered before and being surprised by them. He was rarely available to answer our calls. We had to make an appointment for him to call back. If he missed the time, it was ok. If we missed it, we were out of luck and had to make another appointment to speak to him. The appointments were not for the same day or the next, but 3-5 days later. Once all his fees were paid, he didn't want to talk to us at all. He wouldn't return calls or give answers. He made promises about the completion of the case and didn't keep them. He got angry when we did get to talk to him and would tell us he could just cancel any deals and it could go to trial. He didn't care. He didn't like to be questioned at all. My son has bipolar illness and Mr. Kellis told him he must not have it because he (my son) was so calm. Believe me, he has it. My son's dad talked to the District Attorney since Mr. Kellis wouldn't return our calls. He and the DA worked out a deal that both the DA and my son's dad would notify Mr. Kellis about it. Mr. Kellis promised it would be cleared up at the next court date but it wasn't due to Mr. Kellis's concern for the prosecutor and his witnesses feelings. He believed the prosecutors witness, without seeing any corroborating evidence. He believed the prosecutor's witness over what my son said. We do not believe he worked for us at all. We even asked him when he had started working for the prosecutor. When the case was over, we got a succinct email stating it was over, without any explanations. My son did not have to go to court. Mr. Kellis was recommended by an attorney in Morehead City and we have since told him we would never see Mr Kellis again and he should not refer his clients to Mr. Kellis. I will never recommend Mr. Kellis to anyone.
