We struggled with the idea, first attempting to clear up our debt/IRS problems on our own. It was overwhelming, to say the least. When we exhausted ourselves with TV ads that looked like the answer, we decided it was time to sit face to face with a professional. If I remember correctly, I think I turned to the yellow pages. Shawn is located in Greentree, two minutes from our house, therefore, he got the call. I will not lie, being in financial straits is difficult enough, but having to sit across the desk and bare your soul to a stranger is no picnic. Our particular hardship was caused by taxes that were not paid during a three year period where my husband was paid as a contractor, our children were small, we needed every dollar. Fast forward a few years of getting back on track, yet never addressing the past financial obligations. Now add on interest, late fees, etc... not very forgiving. Long story short, we weren't looking for absolution. It was important that we make good on our debts, but we needed professional help to accomplish our goal. Shawn walked us through every step, was our advocate, but most importantly he made us feel like he was in our corner. He removed the feeling of intimidation by being our voice. We were put on a five year repayment plan, which believe it or not, seemd to go quickly. The feeling of security when you know things are being taken care of helps the time pass. Everything was submitted exactly as requested, and Ken personally confirmed that all documents were received and even commended me on my diligence throughout the process. Then, out of nowhere, the secretary claimed they didn't have certain documents -- even though Ken had already confirmed they did. Since then, it's been difficult to reach him directly, and we've been passed around to different people who don't seem to be on the same page. We were also told from the start that we only needed to complete one counseling certificate, which we did. Later, we were informed we'd have to pay for another one. The process has been confusing, inconsistent, and very unorganized. We're still in the middle of this process, and unfortunately, it continues to feel all over the place. We did not receive our own contact with Matt when we first hired him and have requested our copy of the contact multiple times in writing. Everything was fine, until we "won" our court case in October of 2020; when Matt could not find the owner of the business. Even though we legally won, according to our county's court system, we have not heard from Matt on what he is doing to get us our money, or if he has taken any other steps since 2020. We have gone MONTHS without communication from him, he has been not replying to our call, emails or texts. We have tried to use different phones to get in contact, and it seems as if he is screening and avoiding our calls. In 2020 when we first noticed that communication was strained Matt told us "No news is good news". It has been over a year (January 2022) since we have any communication calls, text, or emails from Matt. This is a last resort to get an update or a call from Matt.

I now have a tax bill of over $20,000 due to fines and penalties associated with his inaction and negligence. Poor customer service, bullying, negligence, and loss of money is all that a consumer will get with Jim Lange.
