Called in here for lunch today. We were really looking forward to a fab sandwich and a cup cake as…read morewe had read the reviews about them. On entering we were a little disappointed with the decor but we took a seat anyway. There was one lady sitting on the sofa and two men having a drink at one of he window tables. We waited for just over ten minutes, frequently wandering towards the till / service area but not one member of staff was seen. Eventually we decided that enough was enough and left disappointed. We certainly don't have a problem waiting for food but the fact that we hadn't even been acknowledged was extremely poor service. What a shame that two local people wanting to support a local business were let down so badly.

Unfortunately, my experience at Beau Tea Rooms was not a good one. I bought a package from Groupon…read morefor myself and my sister as a birthday treat. This included a full body massage, facial, pedicure and eye brow reshape. We were both very excited and looking forward to the day so decided to get there 45 minutes early and have some lunch. When we approached the door there was a sign on it saying that there were no sandwiches or wraps available and the coffee machine was not working so decided to go elsewhere. If I had known then what was a shambles I was letting myself in for I would never have gone back for my appointment. When we arrived, the waiting room / coffee area was a total mess so was glad I had dined elsewhere. There was mess everywhere and the decor was extremely worn and grubby looking. We were both led to our treatment rooms by two very young girls. I was asked to complete a form covering off the usual questions. At this point I asked her to just focus on my back, neck and shoulder area as I am having physio on my lower back. She confirmed this was ok and told me to get undressed and lie on my back on the bed. I presumed that she would be doing the facial first at this point. She then started the treatment which consisted of a gentle rubbing of my chest, arms and hands with oil. Then she started on my face I had my eyes closed but I think she basically just put a face pack on me and left it to dry?? She placed dry cotton wool pads over my eyes which made me itch and I am pretty sure at this point that she was using her mobile phone as it was on her table when I walked in. During this 'relaxing' time there was very loud noises coming from outside the room so could not really take in the ambiance of the situation. It certainly was not like any facials I have had in the past. After this she waxed my eye brows I was quite happy with the results of this and give her credit were credit is due. Unfortunately, my sisters eye brow reshape was a complete disaster and she has had to cover up a massive bald patch with eye brow pencil until it grows back. Apparently the young girl applied one strip of wax and did no further waxing or tweezing so both brows are quite different from each other. After this, I was fully expecting her to ask me to turn on to my stomach so that she could complete the full body massage (albeit a back, shoulder and neck massage as requested) but she turned the lights up, told me to get dressed and swiftly left the room! What a huge disappointment. At this point, after experiencing the chest tickle and face pack facial I was pretty fed up and just wanted to complete the package. I was led into a corner of a room, told to sit on some dodgy rocking chair and pick a colour that I wanted for my pedicure. This again was a disappointment and was no more than a toe polish and a very bad one at that as it was applied very thickly. After the treatments, both myself and my sister could not get out there quick enough! I was asked as I was leaving whether everything was ok and am ashamed to admit that I said it was fine but I do not like confrontations and certainly wasn't going to stand there and say it was not- it was supposed to be a relaxing treat. Three hours after the treatment, my toe polish was still not touch dry as it was so thick so I had to remove it as did my sister. Its been a week since I had the treatment and I am still angry at the waste of time and money spent at this establishment. I have set up a QYPE account specifically to write this review I am not being petty or vindictive as I work in customer services, but by offering these packages on Groupon I am only presuming that Beau Tea Rooms are trying to get the numbers in with the knowledge that a large proportion will never return. My advice to anyone getting a cheap package you pay for what you get and when something sounds too good to be true it normally is. I certainly would not go there again.
