Basically my mom and I found it to be a antique store with thrift store prices. The most collectible goodies are at the shop entrance. I kind of ignored them at first, figuring that they weren't in my price range. Walking around the store in the "not collectible" area I found several pieces of USA made vintage plastic picnic plates and cups for 25 cents each. That's all I was going to buy, really. Then I started looking through the collectible stuff. Asked about an ornate Victorian brass candelabra with crystal pendants...they offered it to me for TEN dollars because it had been languishing there too long. WHAT?? It had some missing or broken crystals, but it's still the thrift find of literal dreams. OK, now I started really looking through the collectibles. Spent $40 for the candelabra and picnic ware, plus: Glass clown figurine that looks like it's probably Murano; Genuine signed capodimonte from Italy porcelain piece, with no chips!! 1930's-40's women's fur felt hat, very jaunty; Matching set of two 30's diorama wall hangings; Vintage can opener; Some other small stuff that I couldn't resist throwing onto my pile. We found some interesting and inexpensive stuff, like a $5 red Asian rug runner in perfect shape. It's not unlike a fleamarket and has different stall-like areas. There is an interesting clock/watch shop, another that has tons of costume jewelry. There is such a wide variety of stuff at reasonable prices, that it's tough to really describe the diversity. There are ladders and pails and tools, and flags, and so much stuff. Worth a browse if you're in the neighborhood. Totally curious, only mildly organized. That's what makes it fun, I suppose. It's about two miles W of Abyss, another interesting thrift store. They're very dissimilar. You'll see what I mean.

I visited Cherry Canary around Halloween season, and there were a lot of people stopping by to look for pieces for their costumes. I can see why -- much of their clothing would make excellent costumes. But I don't see why you couldn't wear a wool sailor suit any other time of the year. You just need some chutzpah. Like a good vintage store, the clothing racks are jam-packed with clothes, so it's a little overwhelming to go through everything. But that's a good thing -- it just means they have a lot of stuff and a big selection. Everything is displayed tastefully, and they have a section for men's clothes and one for women's. They have little dressing rooms for you to try on the clothes, too, but be aware that the lighting in the dressing rooms is very dim. They also have a little corner for knickknacks and accoutrements, such as vintage luggage, glassware and planters.

First off, the shop owner here is SO nice and helpful. I mentioned the decade I was shopping for and she pulled quite a few lovely pieces down for me. The merchandise here is in great shape and I feel like I bought so many treasures while I was there. I feel like this shop has something for everyone here. I scored some 1950s dresses, and 1940s dress, and even a 1930s peignoir. The prices vary, with older items usually being priced higher. However, I think the items are worth the price because they are basically one-of-a-kind at this point and are in solid shape.
