A bit of Portland OR here. Fairly well organized, better for female clothing than male. Has a lot of games and dvds, and some shoes. The best part: nothing is radically expensive, indeed some really good values. A bit of jewelry, hats, art, shoes, and sadly for me, mostly (but not all) for women. For travelers, look for the Sushi or Exotica sign on the sw corner on your GPS, just w of the intersection. Go to the rear of the building near a vape shop, then around the corner-- a western-facing door. Very friendly, beware of the cat, who is harmless, unless you're allergic. Achoo. read more

This store is one of the only reasons we come down to Evansville. The store provides an eclectic atmosphere and we almost always walk away with at least two bags. The staff are incredibly friendly and they take donations for consignment by appointment. The store is well organized and yet you can get the feel of the hip and authentic mood the vintage furniture, clothes and other items provide. Everything is in good condition and will not be sold if it had stains or tears. The prices are low and the clothes are adorable!!! read more

A hidden gem of a thrift shop! Unbelievable prices for everything. Great vintage and contemporary clothing shoes, accessories, and jewelry as well cool trinkets, artwork, and wall decor throughout. The only thing I saw over $30 was a vintage suede fringe jacket I desperately wanted to purchase. The outwear and dress sections were great. The shop cashier was super friendly, as well as the pretty little shop kitty Kimira! A fun little place to explore! read more

This place is truly a hoarders paradise. I felt like I was going to get fleas from staying in there too long. Not to mention the cat roaming around the place! How is that sanitary in a clothing store? As someone who is extremely allergic to pet dander, I was stuffed up for days afterward. Not to mention there is a less than mediocre selection of clothes with very few exceptions. I expected a more hand-selected type experience--one where all the less than par items had been funneled out. Instead, the store seems a bit cluttered and confusing (mostly due to the layout and lack of lighting). I have been to this establishment twice now (the first time being nearly a year ago) and I noticed so many of the same pieces from a year ago still in store! Abyss has so much potential, but fails to live up to its persona. I would stick with goodwill. read more

This is the #2 reason why I miss Evansville. #1 is college. I used to go to the janky ass Washington Square Mall for a good laugh from time to time, and saw that the vintage shop that used to be in the little strip center along with The Slice had relocated here (sadly this vintage shop is no more. Cute little place.). I also saw a little shop called "AbyssCo" next door, so I thought I'd check it out. Something that really bugs me about thrift stores is that it's basically all schlock nobody wants, but this place has some real gems scattered throughout. Things that make you go, "Duuuuude, I need this!" and "Omg so retro!" The woman who runs the shop is a funky punk rocker who is super friendly. We've had some great conversations. If you find yourself on that side of town, I highly suggest you stop by. read more

If you've been around Evansville long enough, you might remember the Abyss on Lincoln, the best grimy, punk, basement bookstore in the world. Still the coolest store in the Tri-state. This is the only true punk rock place in Evansville. The staff are cool and friendly. The music is great. I wish they still had live shows. This town needs the venue. read more
