Carole uses traditional methods that have changed little for thousands of years and takes students through the process step by step. Carole gets the best out of her students by giving sound advice at all times. I was very apprehensive being my first visit but the course is very welcoming and their is no pressure. Carole's skills as a sculptor and teacher are amazing and our finished work surpassed all our expectations. With the course limited to around eight learners the tuition is mostly one to one when needed. All the learners thoroughly enjoyed the course; several had been on Carole's courses before and we all agreed to return again next year. I recommend the courses run by Carole Kirsopp at the Stone Centre whatever your level of artistic talent and you will be amazed at what is possible with a little application. Eric Hoyle.

I dined there today with a party of six and was initially impressed by the prompt attention paid by the front of house staff and the greeting they gave. The table was placed in the window and although it was a round table it seemed fairly obvious to me that it would be a bit of a struggle for room once we filled it up with drinks and dishes - and so it proved. I would have thought this was fairly obvious to staff as more items were brought across to us, but they never took the opportunity to remove the items surplus to requirements on there, meaning we were left to shuffle glasses and plates around. This small issue aside I am very positive about the overall experience I enjoyed. The choice of food was good and as they opened up many dishes to be taken as either a 'starter' or 'main' portion it meant there was a wide choice of dishes to try. Starters were in the region of £5 and mains were generally around the £10 mark, slightly more if you went for the steak or fish dishes. The furnishings were smart and it was pleasing atmosphere to sit in and enjoy a good well cooked meal with friends and family.

I love the paranormal and if I visit any city, I always check to see if they offer a ghost walk…read more These are always a great combination of local history and ghost stories, plus a good way of getting to know the city and seeing the sights. Nottingham was no exception! This ghost walk runs every Saturday night at 7 pm. The walk runs about an hour and a half, but is surprisingly short--you only travel about 3/4 of a mile. The walk starts at The Salutation Inn, reportedly haunted by the ghost of a little girl called Rosie. From there, the walk goes up near the grounds of Nottingham castle, Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem Inn, a spooky graveyard, and then ends in the haunted caves under the Salutation Inn. The tour guides arrive in costume and stay in character throughout the tour, which really adds to the creepy atmosphere. The only complaint I have about this walk is that it could do with just a few more ghost stories...there are a few, but the majority of the tour is a history lesson. A very interesting one, but I expect a bit more of the ghosty stuff on a ghost walk. But don't let this put you off, it's still a great time for a Saturday night in Nottingham!

Tucked…read moreaway from the main road and stationed next to a church/ cemetery this doll museum is off the beaten path for tourist attractions and is a very creepy and fun alternative to castle hopping. The doll museum is less of a museum than it is a big house filled to the brim with dolls, collectibles, novelties and dolls made by the owners! When we fist entered, the female owner came to greet us and had lots of information for uncle Martin so us young folk left him and began exploring the rooms of dolls. But not before we all discussed the possibility that the owner was going to skin us alive and turn our carcasses into dolls. Then we carried on and had a surprisingly good time discussing how odd and creepy the dolls were. The three neices were enthralled, they took about 150 pictures of the museum. After you finish gazing at the ridiculous assortment of dolls and old toys there is a tiny landing at the bottom at which you can purchase handmade dolls. Admission was about three pounds for children and five pounds for adults. BONUS!! If you go behind the museum towards the peacocks there are rotting dollheads speared on tree branches! Party time!
