Not only do I feel great physically, my mind feels the same way too. Brennan cues are always on point and knows how to keep it challenging yet supportive when I am learning a new exercise. I've always been a gym rat (even when I travel), so I know that having the right trainer and facility make all the difference in the world. Everyone is very friendly and with a positive good energy. I'd encourage you to at least try Kraken and see how a private gym can help achieve your wellness goal. The space is also super clean and well organized.

Working with Kraken Training has changed my life!…read more Late last year, I was shopping around for a powerlifting coach to help me get started in the sport. Though I'm no stranger to the gym, my knowledge about health and fitness was lacking. I got minimal returns for my efforts and suffered one injury after another; I had extreme and unsustainable diets; and poor posture. I've always had reservations with working with a trainer. A few common reasons I told myself were "why pay so much money when I can just go on the internet and try the latest burn-fat in 90 days program" or "they don't really care about my progress, these trainers just want my money". I'm sure you've all felt something similar at some point about trainers. Nonetheless I decided to at least give it a try. Thanks to the power of social media, I stumbled upon Kraken training on Instagram. I was intrigued so I reached out to them and came in for a consultation. Josko put me through the standard movement test and I got some feedback about my form. I was open about the fact that I was still shopping around for coaches. After telling him this, instead of fluffing up his services, he actually recommended other coaches for me to check out. On top of that, he even gave me some links and resources to help me with corrective movements. I knew that Josko was someone who I could trust and genuinely cared about my success. However, because of circumstances, I didn't end up choosing him at that time. But, that encounter left such a positive impression on me that I knew I wanted to work with him at some point. Then, almost a year later, on one fateful morning when I was feeling gross about my body because I had recently amassed over 10lbs of fat over the past few months and weighed my heaviest in years, Instagram once again came to my rescue and it flashes me the ad for Kraken Transformations 6-week challenge (it's as if my iPhone knew exactly what I needed). I instantly signed up. Then, I got a call from Josko and a few days later we got right to work. It's been 10 weeks since that morning and I am in the best shape of my life - physically and mentally. I've lost close to 25lbs while retaining most of my strength. My posture has improved along with my mobility. I've learned tons about proper dieting and trying to limit my extreme tendencies. As well, my confidence and mood are at a high. However, more impressive to me than the results is how I achieved them. This process has been relatively the smoothest I have gone through. I credit this to the combination of every aspect about the program from the workouts, nutrition, daily accountability, support, and coaching. Do not underestimate the value of a good trainer. Josko is someone who has the technical knowledge to help you get to where you want to go. If he doesn't, then he will either direct you to someone who does or he will learn. I admire that he is always trying to improve himself and uses his knowledge to try and become a better coach, mentor, and person overall. Josko's program is not the usual cookie-cutter ones that you find online, they are customized and made specifically for you. Follow it and you'll get results. He knows how to support as well as challenge people. Going on a fitness journey is not easy and you want someone you can trust, Josko is that guy. He is dedicated, accountable, and follows through with what he says. On top of that, Josko's surrounds himself with like-minded individuals. The Kraken Team is just as exceptional. When you decide to work with Kraken Training, you have essentially joined a community that uplifts each other.

However, I do understand where they're coming from. It's their job to make a sale. I don't blame them for being pushy. As for the cleanliness, I could only speak for the areas I see. The women's washrooms are definitely clean. The gym floor is also tidy, and the equipment is grouped nicely and well maintained. I did get the 6-month personal training. I did this to make sure I'm doing the correct excise for the right muscles. I'm not gym savvy, so I need help in this area. My PT's name is Elaine. She's wonderful. She does not only teach you the form, she tells who which muscle groups should be engaged and why it is important to work those muscles out. I am very much pleased with my training as I learn a lot. I am making the most out of it. As for my gym membership, I've only managed to take advantage of bodyjam class. This is a dance class and is so much fun. I like Maureen and Glen. I think they're both cool. I have yet to take the yoga class and RPM class (spin class). I'm pretty sure I will enjoy them too. One thing that needs improvement is the reception desk. I think some people at the reception are lazy. When I tried to leave a message for my PT, I was told that it's no guarantee that the message would reach my PT. WTH! Is it so hard to walk over the gym floor, look for the PT, and give the message?! I will not leave a message if it's not important. Duh!? Overall I would still recommend this gym. Oh and did I mention it's open 24 hrs?!!!

The trainers have excellent and varied backgrounds and their fearless leader Steve has really put his all into creating the awesome experience that PI gives us. They have a number of programs and times available throughout the day for one-on-one, small group, team and skate treadmill sessions. Although I'm not a hockey player, I hear good things about the skate treadmill and I've watched hockey and soccer teams, as well as figure skaters & Irish dancers put through their paces in sport-specific conditioning workouts. I make use of the small group training sessions and really enjoy this environment. What small group means is that you work with a few other clients and one trainer for hour long sessions. You aren't necessarily doing the same workout as the others in your group - what you do depends on your reasons for cross-training - but the trainer will divide his or her time amongst all in your group. Sometimes there might be five people and occassionally your group ends up being just you and then you get a private training session on the cheap. Having said that though, one on one time means the trainers catch you in all your bad workout habits... If you are an athlete looking to better your performance or just someone like me who wants to be in better shape, check out Performance Institute to help you achieve your fitness best.

I asked them what the monthly membership fee was, they replied, it's $15.00 a month to utilize 1 location. I then said, I know two people who already have memberships already who live in the same household, I just want to try out the gym as I was thinking about purchasing my own membership however, you still want to charge me $20? teply "yes" I understand they need to charge a drop in fee, I think I would treat every situation a bit different depending on circumstance. If I cannot prove Vy on my drivers license, that two other members of the gym lived in my household, I can understand that reply since there are people who will lie about things like that. It really makes me sad because I wanted to train there and have the option to work out with my husband or my tenant if I wanted to, however that experience made me not want to go to the gym ever

Other than being experts in their fields both as individuals and as a team, the staff here are genuinely friendly and supportive. The personalized programs and heartfelt 1:1 training and attention are invaluable. They really help you to feel, connect with, and use the correct muscles - instead of just "going through the movements". This maximizes my time and my workouts at the gym and I've seen more progress than ever before. StrongSide is NOT ANYTHING LIKE Crossfit, and in fact many people working out here are rehabilitating from injuries, dealing with chronic illnesses, or maybe starting a fitness journey for the very first time. This gym is not competitive, and is genuinely upbeat and fun. You will find people from all walks of life sharing this comic-book themed gym. Did I mention it's dog friendly? If you want to have effective and efficient workouts, done with proper form, tailored for you and your goals, with help from professionals and support from other gym goers, this is the place for you! Normally personally training would set me back $75 a session for someone worth their salt. This gym is a fraction of the cost, with all the benefits and more. They also do a free neurokinetic assesment so you can come in and see if you think it would be a good fit, which I really appreciated as a skeptic! I was sold immediately and am stronger and healthier than ever.

My favourite aspects of this gym are the 4 squat racks and deadlift area which are still not too common. At my previous gym, I always found myself waiting for the one squat rack. Here, there isn't much of a wait. People seem friendly and put away their weights, there is free parking, membership is on par with chain-gyms, and there's a pool too. Also, the people coming here seem to be on a time-crunch and don't stall or look at their phones as much. They seem to know what they are doing so sharing equipment is much easier. For those used to the nicer-looking chain-gyms, the weights don't go up increments of 2.5lb if you're used to that. People who are not used to only using free-weights and want to use machines may find that F2K doesn't offer enough variety of gym machines, nor are they very new. The TVs are also limited, not sure if that's a pro or con to some people. Overall, this is a good gym. I hope not too many people come here and ovecrowd it. Also, sometimes they blast Adele on the speakers. I think good-taste is important in a gym, don't you?
