The chap at the tyre barn knew it was a Jeep as soon as I told him the tyre size and was able to get the right tyres in with the right speed rating for a better price than everyone else was quoting for lower-rated tyres. My husband went in to get the tyres fitted and tells me they were friendly, efficient and did exactly what he asked them to do. Perfect! We'd definitely use them again.

Absolute scam merchants- avoid at all costs rude and unhelpful to boot…read more My car failed it's MOT due to rear brake issues (uneven brake force) at the Salisbury Kwik Fit who decided they were too busy to do the repairs and suggested going to another branch. I work in Newbury so it was the logical choice. After 'inspecting' the car they tried to convince me that the problem was that the brakes at the front needed replacing (to solve a rear brake issue!) and became very confrontational when I asked for a reason for this work being carried out. The best they could come up with was 'air in the brakes' - despite there being no sign of this. The staff I dealt with, one of who I presume to be the manager as he was in a shirt rather than the usual uniform, we're evasive, unhelpful and In the case of the manager he tried to be agressive and intimidating using scare tactics to try and get me to agree to the work. When I declined the work and picked the car up the wheels had not ever been taken off - the cable ties holding the wheel trims in are still in place. When pressed they said they had looked at the rear drums, opened and inspected them and found nothing wrong- an outright lie. Having now taken the car to my local mechanic to have the work carried out, there was a cylinder in the rear drum that had ceased - a £20 part - and nothing to do with the front brakes that I was told needed to be replaced. For peace of mind I also had the front brakes checked and they were found to be well within acceptable wear limits and perfectly safe to drive. Thankfully I am competent when it comes to cars and actually do a fair amount of my own maintainance so was able to spot a con but I'm sure many people would have bought into it and agreed the work - and it still wouldn't have passed an MOT afterwards. So, never again will I use Kwik Fit and I will do my very best to make others aware of their shoddy ways.

I arrived mid-morning on Saturday and despite being very busy the job was done quickly and efficiently. Highly recommended.

Special applause goes to the lady on reception who juggles phone, computer and customers with polite ease! Always a big selection of tyres for the poor or rich pockets. The fitters are all lovely and helpful to car-ignorent people such as myself who don't have a clue where my wheel-lock nut would be (or even what it looks like)! Even the waiting time is pleasently spent drinking coffee, reading the current magazine selection or watching the big tv. I wish i owned more cars so i could go back more often.
