In My Atrium app for each appointment at this facility there is a reminder that valet parking is offered at this location. The dozen times I've been there - they are always closed and you are forced to parking in the blue parking deck which isn't a bad walk when the weather is nice but when it's raining or 28° outside that's another story. I'd like to suggest they remove the mentioning of valet parking since they are not really offering it. Don't set the expectation then not deliver on the service.

Although my dad didn't survive from his illness the doctors, nurses and staff were excellent and did best they could for him. Moving four years forward the medical industry has seen many changes and these hospitals have seen an exception. Although I'm sure that doctors and nurses do the best they can, I do notice them working under that much more pressure and during several circumstances my sister had to talk to nurses about which medication had to be administered and which one's shouldn't. It seems there was a confusion on this matter on how notes were written down. Facilities are very clean, well maintained and staff was knowledgable and friendly. There is ample parking for visitors with free parking if you get your ticket validated at reception area. There are various restaurants in hospital for staff and visitors, but my favorite was cafeteria on third floor which had good food at a decent price and was very delicious. Overall my both experience at these facilities was good and treatment to patients is handled with loving care and although we live in an era where people have lost faith in medical field due to COVID pandemic and many mistakes you can look forward to getting proper profesional care at these facilities.

I am writing my experience regarding Atrium Health on Yelp since Atrium cannot return my phone…read morecalls or respond to the complaint I wrote on 10/24 on their website. In addition, I hope this will help someone when choosing health care for a loved one or themselves. According to Caregiver.org 34.2 million Americans have provided unpaid care to adult age 50 or older. I was one of those caregivers until October 18th of this year. The gentlemen I was caring for transitioned to independent living and during that time I reached out to his care team at Atrium with a few issues that needed to be addressed before the gentlemen transitioned. My concerns were pertaining to diet, mental capacities and safety. It was a few simple questions and it turned out to be a nightmare dealing with the staff. Below was my experience following which started 9/26 and today is 12/2. I still have not heard back from anyone. Below is my letter I sent on 10/24 to their compliance department via website. I am the caregiver & health care proxy for a patient at Elizabeth Family Medicine. He had a visit on 9/23/19, to meet Dr. Goyal's replacement and check-in. I thought this would be a great time to address his transition to living alone, as well as a few concerns I had about his safety and diet. I typed my concerns in an email since I could not attend the visit. I called the office on 9/26 and asked for an email address of someone on his care team. This turned into a 20-minute power struggle I typed my concerns in an email since I could not attend the visit. I called the office on 9/26 and asked for an email address of someone on his care team. This turned into a 20-minute power struggle with Robin (refused to give last name) the person that answered the phone. She made it very clear; I could drop it off, mail it in, leave a message or login-in to client's health chart with Atrium regarding his health issues, but I could not email it. I even tried to explain that I was a member of the patience's team and that I was asking for an email address, so we could work together. As I explained to her; it was too late to mail since the appointment was Monday, I could not leave work to drop it off, the letter was too long for a message and I did not want to use the online chart because there was sensitive information in there. He is 88 and I am concerned about Dementia. He deserves respect and dignity. Finally, I asked to speak with a supervisor. I spoke with Marisol Brown and she seem to understand my dilemma and was able to assist me. I emailed her my concerns and she passed them on. She is totally a team player. So, the patient's appointment came and went, and I have yet to hear back from anyone. Today is 10/24. Five days shy of a month since the client's visit. I have called several times since trying to get a response and each time a telephone girl (a professional sees thing through) assures me someone will return my call, and no one does. The policy manual for Atrium under Patient Care and Privacy states, "Patients are entitled to prompt and courteous responses to their requests and to their need for treatment and services." I don't believe this experience has been prompt, courteous or even helpful. This experience has been stressful. As I stated earlier it is 12/2 and I have not heard back from one of the hundreds of people they employ. I am one person. They have a team of people at their disposal and a compliance department, but no one could return a call. -- l

I love Dr. Kenning but me having to jump through hoops when I need to speak with her is ridiculous…read more I love her but every time I need my prescriptions refilled it doesn't happen for 2 weeks. Signs all over the office that say call 7 days out for refills and not ONCE have I actually received them in 7 days. It takes multiple calls to people who state it's going out in an urgent message but I never hear back from anyone and have to keep calling. They even "lost" a prescription and tried to argue with me that she never prescribed it, this is after her prescribing it for 6 MONTHS. I'm beyond tired of this and want to find a new practice after constantly dealing with it. Why not be like every other office so that when you call in you leave a message for the Drs nurse instead of calling and getting people in a call center that aren't onsite just sending the nurse emails? Get your process organized as I see I'm not the only one who experiences this!

CONTROLLING, MANIPULATIVE, HOLDS TEST RESULTS HOSTAGE, TALKS DOWN TO YOU..DO NOT GO !!!!!! READ…read moreFURTHER TO UNDERSTAND WHY. I switched from Atrium to Novant having spoken to several friends that had great experiences with Novant. An appointment was set at this facility for an annual physical. The appointment we as to be expected, patient history, family history, blood work. Now comes the issues. My test results came back. A "scheduler" call to schedule a follow up appointment. I asked why I need an appointment as I have yet to see my test results on the portal. I also stated that as an analytical person, I would like to have the results posted so I could see what issues existed and do my research to be able to ask intelligent questions. She said she was not able to do that. Ok low level employee, I understand as I do not allow my employees to release information either. Then I get a phone call from, Suzette Schlafly, the office manager. She informs me yet again that I need ro schedule an appointment. I again told her I would not schedule an appointment until I had the opportunity to review my test results and if necessary could the PA Samantha call me. It is at this point the conversation took a turn that I was not expecting. Suzette said that the PA does not have time to call me and that is not her job. Then she told me that I needed the appointment so they COULD TELL ME what my treatment plan WOULD be. She also talked down to me in a manner that inferred I was not intelligent enough to advocate for my own Healthcare. I was extremely frustrated. I told her that it was "my body, my blood and my choice" and she no no right to hold my test results hostage. I also told her that if I needed to set an appointment to get my test results the appointment would not be pleasant and they would regret the appointment if this was how they were going to unprofessionally conduct themselves. I called back in 2 days hoping someone in authority had understood that keeping a patient's personal test results and then talking down to the patient was not an acceptable approach. I called Suzette and asked if my results had been released to the portal. She stated they were going to release them onto the portal. They were never released them. I went earlier the next week and moved to another practice that have requested my test results and I have accordingly scheduled an appointment to discuss the results. If the office manager lacks the communication skills to speak to patients in a manner that is not; arrogant, demeaning and belittling she does not need to be in that position. She is obviously nothing but a mouth piece for the practice. As such, this reflects poorly on the doctors at this facility as this level of arrogance, belittling and manipulation either comes from the doctors, as this is their attitude or they do not know how to manage their staff. Either way this culture showing such a disdain and lack of respect for the patient and indicates you are but a number they need to process. I have never had a doctor's office believe they are so omnipotent and you the patient are so stupid that you are not allowed to see your test results from your own body. THIS HAS BEEN UNEQUIVOCALLY THE WORST experience in Healthcare and with a doctors office in my life. It ranks highly as the worse experience from a customer service perspective. I HAVE HONESTLY HAD FAR SUPERIOR EXPERIENCES FROM THE VETERINARIAN THAT TAKES CARE OF MY DOGS. The response below proves my point !!!!! This person has the very same culture as the others in the office. A professional office would have reached out and worked through a solution. No, you are not a person and they aren't professional. You're too uninformed, too uneducated and not intelligent enough to deserve their attention unless you comply. See how their response goes. Demeaning: how I do not understand the medical industry and corresponding federal guidelines. How they view facts of their practice as threatening. How can a factual and articulate review be threatening? Note also, if I did not bend a knee to their pressure and manipulation I was avoiding medical services. Notice how immature and unprofessional by listing medical conditions ? This exemplifies every issue referenced above; intimidation, manipulation, unprofessionalism, arrogance, threatening and contolling. Again, their response proves the arrogant, demeaning and ridiculing nature of the culture in this office. NEW PATIENTS, make your own decision about the care you deserve and the provider you choose. Know that as a fact, the above was precisely what I experienced. The below response PROVES every one of my points precisely. Amazingly, the new office that I have chosen, released my results and I went to the appointment. At no point, as inferred below, did I want to avoid nor delay a physicians consult. I simply desired to have an opportunity to understand my test results.. My body, my blood, my choice.

In fact, of the many doctors I have to see Dr Kanelos by far gives the most time and through explanations. I have looked over all of the reviews here and it is very revealing that there are large percentage of 5 stars and an offsetting amount of 1 stars. Ironically, all of the 1 star reviews had to do with money they had pay or lack of professional care. It's routinely receive follow up callsfromLIsa to see how I am doing after they notice I have went to see another doctor (specialist) for a condition I am being treated for. It's typical for people to leave reviews that feel they have been overlooked or underserved. The one star reviews have complained about 2 things: 1) a sum that they owe the. practice because their insurance didn't cover the tests the doctor or the PA ordered for the patient 2) a long wait 3) rude front office staff. As to number 1 if you expect god care then their are some things that the doc may order that will have to be paid out of pocket. 2) The same people that complain ed about having to wait beyond their appointment time are the same people that said that the doctor didn't spend enough time with them. This is ridiculous. In my 25 years of seeing doctor Kanelos there were many times that I was seen later then my doctors appointment. However this is the same with every doctor. The good ones give the patient the time they need which often results in others having to sometimes wait beyond their appointment time. Finally, I have never received anything but courteous service from the employees on Dr Kanelos staff.
